Effects of Herbs and Coffee Beans
« on: July 24, 2018, 05:08:25 PM »
Hi, I just read Ricalyn's thread here: http://www.carls-sims-4-guide.com/forum/index.php?topic=14965.0 and I don't want to necro it from years ago so I just linked it. I have the Univ Barrista Bar and tried some recipes w/the herbs and coffee, but none seem to have any effect whatsoever. I tried lavender which is supposed to keep them from sleeping or not as much sleep needed and also the basil which is supposed to aid in promotions. Neither one had any effect. The coffee also has no effect except that they can't sleep regardless of how  tired they are b/c of the buzzed moodlet. So whatever n the world are these herbs supposed to do if nothing happens according to description?

There doesn't seem to be much information on the coffee beans or herbs, but I did find some information on the Wiki site -

I think I discovered the secret. It doesn't work in a drink, but it *does* work on food. I put some basil on a couple of sims' breakfast and they zoomed up the performance ladder and got promoted.

Oh I wonder if maybe cooking with the herbs will give a boost of some sort then. Thanks for the update!! :)

After cooking, just have the sim sprinkle an herb on the food to get the effect you want.

Good tip. Does using the herbs on food cause nausea? I know that eating them by themselves can.

In my experience, it can happen, but not as often as when you eat the herb itself. Sprinkle over a group serving to infuse all the plates and save on herbs.

Sims with the Simmunity LTR can eat any amount of herbs without getting sick. Unfortunately, they can't eat more than one at a time without losing the herb moodlet.

KRae: I just had my sim eat the herb by itself b/c she didn't have time to have a meal before going to work. So far, no nausea and I got the same boost. As for "saving on herbs" I don't have any problem there. I have plenty to spare, lol.

I've been experimenting as well with pretty much the same results - chances of getting sick seem to be about the same with both methods.
