Did you know?.....
« on: July 23, 2018, 05:00:21 AM »
If you are friends, close friends or better, with a native from Selvadorado and you've maybe been flirting or have romantic notions and they call you up and ask you on a date to the Cantina Arbole del Jaguar and you agree, you will actually go to Selvadorado?  What's better, if you've altered the cantina by adding showers, a small kitchen and a bed you can live there free and continue to do adventures there?  I thought once the date was over my Sim would wind up back home, but she was exhausted and I had altered the cantina so I put her to bed.  Next day she used the jon, showered, grabbed a bite to eat, went to the market and bought supplies from the vendors and then went fishing!!  I'm not sure how long she could have stayed that way as I had to send her home to save her huge garden from dying but it sure was a shock and fun!

@Joria
A question about gardening...what state did your sim find her garden upon returning home?
My sims left for Granite Falls on Friday evening and returned home on Sunday afternoon--their extensive garden showed no change at all.
Wouldn't your sim need to return home before 5 am for the garden to produce harvestables?

I'm still new to the revamped gardening system, but the only time I've seen my sims' garden get unruly is when they remain at home.
Just wondering...

  It was fine.  I was just paranoid with all the gardening glitches.  Besides, she had caught a ton of fish and I didn't want it to rot.  Kind of sorry I didn't hang in there longer to see if you could do the whole temple thing and what not.  Sure was a cheap way to vacay!

@Joria  anything on your home lot when your sim is being played on another lot will be frozen in time. Lots that aren't loaded will not change in anyway as the game considers them to not exist basically. (For some reason the only thing that this doesn't apply to is a cow plant, they will die when left on an unloaded lot. This may be a bug but just put them into your sims household inventory if leaving for an extended time.)

I did know about being called to dates and asked out etc to the Cantina. I hadn't considered using it an exploit though to stay for jungle adventuring for free! It's a neat idea.

It's nice to know there is at least one exploit left!  I take it the connections one is still "fixed"?

The reward trait Connections was broken for some time but it is supposed to let your sims start every career at L4 and give them all the money and items for the promotions 1-3 that they skipped by design. Was there some other aspect you meant? @Joria

I think what Joria means is that when she was playing previously, the Connections reward broke and didn't offer the career objects for levels 1-3.
This made things more difficult for her No-Buy-Mode challenge at that time.
While Joria was away, though, the Connections reward got fixed and is currently working like before. Hurray!

But is it correct to say that if a sim goes on vacation and leaves his wife and children at home that the wife and children's lives will continue?  I had a baby age up to a child while the dad was away fishing in Granite Falls and it randomly assigned the child traits that I NEVER would have allowed.  Since then I only allow single sims to take vacations.

Yeah.  There was a ploy you could use where you went through each and every career leaving the one you actually wanted till the last to reap all the goodies from all the other careers.  If I remember correctly this ploy was not allowed for Metro's challenges.  Glad to hear it is working again, makes No Buy so much easier~~!

For free Jungle Adventure trip!  Once again got invited to a date at the cafe so decided to play it to the hilt.  My Sim stayed for over two weeks free!  Completed a temple crawl, authenticated all her loot and started to open all her mud lumps when I got bored and sent her home.  She did enough she maxed out several skills and had enough points to buy a money tree, steel bladder, always full and never weary, frugal and still have points left over.  Busy lady.  The sad part is the "boy friend" who keeps inviting her there is a Selvadoradon JERK.  Good looking but who invites a lady out to dinner, leaves halfway through the meal and she gets to pay the tab?  And worse...he makes noncommittal into impossible to keep any kind of relationship an art form, but at least he got her a free jungle adventure temple crawl!  ::)  The best satisfaction buy is definitely never weary!

@Manderley  yes, when it comes to sims (as opposed to plants) they will continue to age when your actively played sim is on any other lot including destination worlds.

Yeah, that was super handy when the game first launched for sure.  :) I remember using that quite a bit, nowadays I'm so jaded I just cheat in what I want and don't care!  ::)

@Manderley
An alternative would be to check your family's simology tabs so you'll know when their birthdays are coming.
If there's a nooboo in the household, I just wait until after the birthday to send the other sim(s) on vacation.
Or your fishing sim can just go home when they receive "Celebrate birthday" notification.
If you play on Normal lifespan, for example, you have 24 hours after the notice to get home before the nooboo ages up on their own.

Did you know the more you bond with your home bees the fewer "attacks" and curses/whatnot you'll get from bee attacks in the jungle?  Can't really prove it but after my Sim got very well bonded with her home bees and went to the jungle, even though she'd get swarmed she didn't get harmed at all after several days there and several attacks.
