Help With My Sim's Relationship

So my male Sim went to University and got a romantic interest. And even there I couldn't make them boyfriend and girlfriend for some reason. They graduated and I invited her to my house (she lives in another town) and I still don't have the choice "propose going steady" to make them boyfriend and girlfriend. I really don't know what happened and if I should save and restart the game or what.

I too have had issues with the "propose going steady" option. I had to have my Sims do friendly and romantic interactions several times before I got the option to come up.

If you've already done that and feel it's going on too long, you can try resetting the individual Sims, Evicting household and move them back in, as a form of resetting them or if you have Nraas MasterController, you can try resetting everything. More details in the post linked below:

Do you keep having the couple interact romantically until it says "[Sim A] finds [Sim B] to be extremely irresistible" underneath the bar in the top left corner of the screen? I have found that I sometimes have to get them to that level in interacting before the option to go steady appears.

Another thing to consider are their traits. Are they compatible? Does either one of them have the commitment issues trait?
