Yeah, you always get a pop-up and 24hr positive moodlet when a female outside the household gives birth and the baby's daddy is in your household.

Seems Malrok snatched Asa right out from Malodie's bed! :)
You've played too much TS3 when ... your 13 month old's babble sounds like Simlish!

"Birthdays and The Wrench"

1.  Christopher has his elder birthday.  Here's what he looked like before his makeover:

2.  Generation 3 is born.  For a heart-stopping moment, seeing this sight, I thought another baby was on the way.  But then the bump suddenly disappeared.  What a relief!

Meet Pingasut, Number Three.  Feel free to call her Ping.  She is Disciplined and Friendly.

3.  Ping's toddler birthday:

As you can see, she has inherited grandfather Christopher's brown hair.  I think the brown eyes must be from her father Asa.

4.  Now, for anyone who has been thinking that Malrok's threats to Asa regarding Mother's Wrench were a bit exaggerated, have a look at this screenshot.  I highly recommend taking the time to enlarge this one.

We've all had Handy sims who liked to toss their wrench around, but I've never had one who managed to make this gesture seem as menacing as Atauserk does.  Her hunger bar was yellow, her dinner sits on the table getting cold, and she stands there looking at her son-in-law with a wild eyed expression, waving her wrench around.  I tell you, it's a very good thing Asa is Brave.  A lesser sim would be running for cover.

"Mortimer, Mercury & a Mystery"

Asa's parents, Gunther and Cornelia Goth, continue to show as living sims in Asa's family tree even though they aren't in his relationship panel and would have to be extremely old at this point.  Mortimer lives alone in that big old house, causing me to feel sorry for him.  So when Christopher pops a wish to become Best Friends with Mortimer, I have Chris invite him to stay overnight.  Christopher has his own ideas of how to impress someone he's trying to befriend.  Eating dirt off the floor, Chris?  Riiight.

The family enjoys a tasty dinner while the children play with the dollhouse.  Playing with the dollhouse is Asa's favourite activity whenever he has a free moment.

Mortimer loves sculpting and stays up long after everyone else is in bed, working on his wood sculpture.

Atauserk visits the Consignment store most days.  On a recent trip, she picked up some mercury and sent it off to be smelted.  The next day, this came in the mail:

Solid mercury?  In all the time I've spent playing Sims, I've never seen this before!  When I mouse over it, I read:  "Common Sims are used to finding Mercury in liquid form, but a true collector knows how to spot solid Mercury."  Well trust Atauserk to come up with something unusual.  Not that she's a big collector.  Christopher snaps a photo of the ingot, and it shows up as "Mercury Vial."

The mystery is Pingasut's brown eyes.  Christopher and Atauserk both have blue eyes, as does Malrok.  I've been assuming the brown eyes must have come from Asa, but when I finally got close enough to see his eye colour, I saw they're really dark violet.

So where did those brown eyes come from?  I have no idea.

"A Birthday and an Ending"

I'm afraid it's been a while since I updated this story.  But now that my gardener is finished competing in the Garden of Eatin' Challenge, I have a bit of time before the next Challenge starts.  So what have our friends the Otokraks been up to?  Answer:  not a lot.  They've mostly been resting in stasis waiting to be reawakened and spring into action.

Pingasut has had her birthday:

The guy on the right is Mortimer Goth, who spends quite a bit of time visiting and sometimes stays overnight.  Christopher missed the birthday party as he was out fishing.  By the way, I never did figure out where Ping's brown eyes came from.  Although Gunther and Cornelia still show as living sims in Asa's family tree, they aren't in town.  I did manage to get a close-up view of Gunther in another game, and his eyes are very dark, pretty much black.  Definitely not the source of the brown eyes.

Here's a shot of Ping on her way to school for the first time.

One evening Mortimer came over to visit and Christopher went out to meet him, when suddenly this happened:

Christopher dead already!?  I wasn't even keeping track of how old he was because I thought he had lots of time yet.  I mean, in the Dreamweaver Dynasty Christopher lived a very long time.  He couldn't have been much over 90, if he was even that old.

Everyone mourns, except Mortimer who is probably thinking what a lousy time he picked for a visit.

Pingasut tries to comfort her grandmother.

Good bye, Christopher.  You died much too young.

Yikes!  I wasn't ready for this.  Asa will have to stop playing with his dollhouse and get cracking on those ice sculptures.

What a shame that Christopher died so soon.  I believe he lived to 116 for me.  RIP Christopher.

"Adventures of Pingasut"

As everyone who has played a Dynasty knows, finding a suitable mate for the next generation can be challenging.  Pingasut starts early by meeting her classmates.  Saturday morning, she goes to visit Otis Manning.  As she looks around the house at the plaid couches, she's grateful that her future husband will come and live with her family instead of the other way round.

Pingasut following her teen birthday.  Her traits at this point:  Friendly, Disciplined, Bookworm, Lucky.

Shortly after becoming a teenager, Ping pops a wish to take on the Martial Arts Master LTW.  We lock it in, and she and Asa read the first chapter of the Martial Arts book that was purchased from the Consignment store.  Nobody in this dynasty has travelled yet, so the book is all they have.  Obviously travel is going to be essential with this LTW, but given the many travel problems I've had in my games, I want Ping to do as much at home as possible before risking a trip.  Once Ping and Asa have their first level, they start sparring regularly.  Here they are in the park, with Asa's other daughter - Ping's half-sister Ariadne - covering her eyes:

Friday arrives, the end of her first week as a teenager.  Ping has quite a few sparring matches under her belt, thanks to Asa, but he really needs to get working on his ice sculptures,  So it's time for our girl to head off to China.

She immediately joins the Tournament.  Of course, she loses a lot of matches at this point, but that's ok as all the sparring she does increases her skill and counts toward the Sim Fu King skill challenge.

When fatigue sets in, she decides to try her hand at a little vacation romance.  Here she is visiting Wang (Weng?) Lu in his home, closely chaperoned by Wang's father.

At the end of the trip, she has made it up to level 3 in the Tournament and made a lot of new friends.  She vows to return next weekend.
