Married Sims won't sleep together

My married Sims won't sleep together.  When one Sim is sleepy and I tell them to go to bed, then the partner to go to bed, they stand there and say the bed is occupied by the other person.  I've deleted and bought another bed.  I've moved the bed to where there is nothing on either side or at the end of the bed, so there is nothing blocking their path.  Any suggestions?

What is their relationship like? If there relationship has taken a hit they may not be in good enough terms to sleep together.

I just checked it.  They were listed as roommates! Changed to husband and wife.  Yay.  Now sleeping soundly in the same bed.  Thank you!
