Great ideas!  The guests do seem to follow the host around, which is a nice detail in the game.

I have an idea about fishing parties.  Two of the families I have are large and I have them meet at fishing spots around and while they are fishing, everyone is talking, laughing and having a good time.  I don't know whether this will work or not as guests are not controllable but it's worth a shot, lol.  Some of my families have large ponds on their lot that are well stocked with fish and hopefully, if the sims are anglers, they will have a good time.  With a firepit and tunes, who knows. :)

Except when you go to the bathroom of course.

Sounds like fun though, bbq'ing freshly caught fish.

I haven't used the BBQ pit for a party, but use it for my family when they are out and about.  I have them pull it out and it seems to attract a crowd.  So I imagine it would be great for a party.  :D

Hmmmm...  I'll have to try that and see if it attracts enough of a crowd to make it worth playing guitar for tips.

My Johnny B Goode character in the Rock Star Challenge just threw a really great party, so I wanted to share some observations of what I did. With the huge addition I built to his home he could afford to invite the maximum guests — 8. And they were very targeted individuals. They were all Good Friends of Johnny's and my goal was to have them jump to Best Friend by the end of the party.

Step 1: Everyone shows up and is mulling around the front yard not really wanting to go inside. I instruct Johnny to go watch the big screen wall mounted TV and call over everyone to watch. There's 3 rows of couches, plus the nice stereo is going on at the same time. Plenty of lightning — it's a nice, big beautiful room.

Step 2: Johnny's wife Arianny is making 2 guest-sized servings of that egg dish I can't remember the name of  :D. After she kicks it up a notch they're Outstanding quality and she calls everyone to eat.

Step 3: Time for Johnny to live up to his name and he performs both of his Master Tracks. Guests start leaving during the 2nd song and it was an epic party.

7 out the 8 guests made the leap to be Johnny's Best Friend. It was a huge success. And he never opened his mouth and had to individually use specific socials on anyone. Lots of fun.

I think that will be my big strategy for that tournament — get the initial mass friendships via playing for tips in the park and in front of the Theatre, and then bring in small groups of weaker friends to strengthen the relationship.

I just decorate the area, make drinks on the bar, then dance and get the other guest to join then leave them and go to bed, they left at 2am and thought it was a great party  ;D

Fascinating thread.  I haven't dared throw a party yet because I hated them so much in Sims 2.  My Sim is in the politics career track though, so at some point I'm going to have to bite the bullet and do a fundraiser.  It sounds like it won't be as bad as I think!

This is all good stuff about throwing successful parties.  But really, 5,000 happiness points to buy Legendary Host is well worth it.  You'll have a great party every time, no matter what you do.

My Legacy Family threw a wedding Party and the Brides worst Enemy Malcom Landgraab Showed up, so he was quickly asked to leave, another Fat guy showed up to he was bigger than the (I think) Andrews man, then they all went to the Bathroom at the same time, even thought the party was great!
