The cursor keeps loading?

Right now, I have my Sims screen up and the cursor keeps loading (like going round in circles). It won't let me do anything, like save etc. What can I do to escape, but save my game?

I have had that happen before, unfortunately I do not know a way to save the game.  I have had to start the task manager (ctrl+alt+delete) and end the Sims 3.  Then restart the game from where the last save was.

Ah yes, that happened to me once, and sadly, I did what gerrr00 did, terminate the sims 3 using End Task on task manager. It just happened once though.
But I also experienced similar but different problem. I was saving a game, and it just stuck, the screen said "Saving..." but it never ended. I force terminate it with task manager.
