Inviting a foreign sim over
« on: June 19, 2018, 06:02:24 PM »
hi!  i'm sorry if this question was already asked. looked here on the forum for an answer, found none. so i am playing a sim who has made friends with a sim who lives in egypt. i want to invite her over for the three days allowed, but will i be able to control her, tell her to eat sleep pee etc? or will she be deemed an npc? also, can i ask her to marry?

thanks! you all are so helpful, i looked on other forums but found no answer so i came here cause you guys are the best!

I think all you have to do is, call the foreign Sim on the phone and invite them over.

I haven't done this in a really long time. I've read that this option might (?) be bugged. I'm not sure, so it might be best to do a test and if it doesn't work don't save the game.

Not a pro on this kind of thing, but yes, you just use the phone or click on the sim's portrait in the relationship panel. Also, you will not be able to control them, but if you ask them to marry right after they got there then you can. And yes, I've had my sims marry while one is visiting from a foreign place.
Side note: make sure you invite the sim in immediately when they arrive or else they will leave. Very annoying, you would have to invite them again.
Hope that was helpful!
stories coming soon... my sims 3 is working again!
I am a pro lurker. If you are reading this right now, I have most likely read your story. Maybe I'll comment. No promises...

Make a backup of it first if you want to test it out. You won't loose anything.

1. In your Saves folder, mouse over your saved game.
C:\Users\Username\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Saves

2. Right-click on the save and select Copy, then paste on to the desktop.

3. Then load the original save and test it out.

If you find you like how the game is working out, then keep going.

If you don't, then copy back the save from your desktop. Doing that may ask you if you want to overwrite your file. If you want that particular save back then that's fine to do.

Have you tried reset sim or evicting the household and moving them back in?

I'm happy that helped!! :)

Evicting my household and moving them back in is one of the first things I try when my Sims are acting odd.

I also save a backup copy of the family at special stages of their life just in case something glitches in game and I need to start the family over. I'm kind of weird like that.

If you're interested in knowing how to do that, here's the link for that.
