There has apparently been a lot of complaints about snow depth not being included in this expansion due to gameplay restrictions. It doesn't bother me. But I'm wondering if there will be snow in a place like Oasis Springs (be weird), or if weather will only happen in a special new neighborhood designed for it. Does anybody know?

SimGuru Grant has said that each neighborhood will have weather, and that winter in Oasis Springs will be different from winter in Newcrest, for example. There's no new neighborhood coming, which is what happened with TS3, too.

True but there is no info on what each world will have as weather and weather it will snow in Oasis Springs or not. And if there is snow in Oasis Spring how much. And I was also pointing out it does snow in deserts in real life, just less as well precipitation is less common because that is what makes a dessert.

I actually think this is a good step forward as this time this character is a properly designated enduring NPC not just some random assigned townie. Potentially this could lead towards the more wanted NPC's that people have missed from previous iterations.

@Playalot I get what your saying. I am just don't like holidays as a rule and don't like Christmas, even if renamed, most of all and don't want it in my game. I dislike Santa, even if renamed. And am greatly disappointed about the "sorta" new life states being holiday related NPCs I don't want. I like strange NPCs as a rule but not holiday related ones. I wonder if there is a way to cancel or remove the holidays from the game including the NPCs associated with them.

I can get into everything else but not the holidays. This news is a near deal breaker for me, I want weather and the new weather related gizmo in my game though and the three new deaths. The thermostat is a great idea and sounds fun. The calendar is very needed. And seasons are a mixed bag for me but clearly not a deal breaker. I am just not into holidays and the fact all signs pointing to the sorta new life state being a Santa wanna be and similar is a huge disappointment. Its only saving grace in my mind is it sounds like you can keep them away by not celebrating the holidays. I really hope it is true as if not I may skip this expansion to avoid having them in my game.

It's very difficult when you hear of a feature that is just simply something you don't want in your game.  I can only suggest waiting until we know more as it may be that you can simply not schedule the holidays with the new calendar which would solve your problem I think. Honestly one of the largest issues with TS4 is it's lack of toggles, or some other feature, that would allow players to customize their game as they wish. But, maybe... maybe the calendar does this to some extent.

It might also be that these holiday events can be cancelled as soon as they start, much like surprise pop-ins with the apartments or indeed the base game parties, which might also be a possible work around.

I don't want any surprise holidays. How can I delete them all if they have surprise ones that sneak up on you like a stalker and ruin your game play? Grrr. I want them all easy to find and delete years and years of sim time in advance. What kind of holiday sneaks up on people? Worse idea ever.

@scoed the 'surprise' holidays show up in the calendar a few days in advance so you will be able to cancel them as son as they appear. The fact they can be canceled so easily is a bonus.

A lot of new information in that trailer, thanks for posting! New traits and reward traits, nice! Also shows more about the 'Traditions' and how they are used to plan/make you're own celebrations.

At points 0.22 and 1.37 sec of the new game play trailer you can see pop up vendors in the uneditable parts of the world. Interesting... I guess they appear in these off-lot areas as the seasons change.
