The Magical Sharebears Legacy- 2.4: Sisterly Matters

Our intrepid avengers spent the next few days working hard on their skills, Penny and Raj included. They each had a metric to reach with their careers in order to progress and with grit and determination, they would hit them. Raj mastered Cooking and Gourmet Cooking in almost no time at all and so challenged himself with Baking. Penny, on the other hand, quickly learned what kept her followers entranced and spreading her fame: ten-minute long livestream sessions back to back to back. Salim mastered Writing but knew it would take until the following Monday for his royalties to complete his aspiration. So, he focused on books for work and let the quality fall where it may. Sometimes quantity over quality works. Sometimes, people write best-sellers until the pressure to do so is actually applied and then they freeze up for days on end.

As for Ellie....

"Oh, thank goodness that's finally done," she heaved as she completed her legacy's first aspiration and mastered Painting. She then quickly purchased every single consumable potion available, completing the Sharebears' first collection.

Your dedication is admirable but you really needn't go to all that trouble. Think of the baby.

"The baby can take a dirty mom," Ellie said as she sniffed herself. "Whew, yeah, I'm going to take a shower. See ya on the flipside."

"I seem to recall some promise you made, Wizard," Penny interjected. "Hmm, something about makeovers and aspirations? I wonder what it could be."

Yes, Ellie has completed our first aspiration. Therefore, you, Raj, and Salim may have new looks.

Penny squealed. "Yes! Finally. I really have to get out of this dress. Love the cut, hate the color. Hey, Raj, get over here!"

"I've almost mastered Baking, could you wait a minute?" he snapped.

"Come on! Who knows when this spreadsheet-obsessed weirdo will let us do this again?"

"Ugh."

And so, all the newcomers received a new look. Penny dyed her hair and changed to a brighter ensemble.

Salim trimmed his beard and cut his hair into a shorter, curlier style.

Quite handsome.

"Thanks. It's a little more grown up. Can't look like a kid in front of my kid."

And Raj was bullied into changing his wardrobe and shaping his eyebrows.

"Now can I finish my skill?"

"Nope, because tonight, we're going out on the town! Disco here we come," Penny exclaimed.

"Are we sure a disco's a good idea, what with Ellie ready to burst and all?" Salim asked awkwardly.

"Dance now, worry later," Ellie declared. "I have been cooped up on this lot for far too long."

"Wow, we're a bunch of nerds," Penny said, giggling.

"I could have told you that. Oh, wait, I did," Raj said.

"Are you okay, Ellie?" Salim asked.

She has been in labor for the last hour.

"What?!"

"Forget that, I'm having a blast," Ellie said through gritted teeth.

"Yeah, no, we're leaving. You are not having a kid at a freaking disco, we don't need any Dance Machines in this family."

"Bye, Penny, bye, Raj," Ellie called as she and Salim were whisked to the hospital.

"And you're sure that disco dancing while pregnant doesn't create Dance Machine children, right?"

"Mr. Benali, for the last time, no, that's not how it works. The parents' traits are the biggest influence on a child's. Aren't you missing something?"

"SALIM!"

"Oops."

"Okay, Ms. Sharebear, just relax and we'll have your baby out in a moment."

"Any time now, it's not like we're on the Short lifespan or anything."

"Bodhi. Welcome to the world, Bodhi Sharebear," Ellie cooed.

"Bodhi Benali is more alliterative, just fyi," Salim said.

He must be a Sharebear to be eligible for legacy heir.

"And him not being the heir would be such a bad thing?" Salim muttered under his breath.

"Wow, Penny and Raj are still out, huh?"

"And the baby is nice and settled. Know what that means?"

"After you."


Meanwhile:

"I wanted to apologize for the way I was acting," he began but Penny wasn't having it.

"You were a complete creep, Akira. Like, it wasn't enough that we lived together, you went through my social media stuff and my texts!"

"Look, I can't help it all the time, okay? I have the Jealous trait. And I know that I shouldn't do those sort of things and that it was wrong. I'm sorry. Can't we just talk?"

"I think talking is what got us into this mess," Penny replied. "So, no, not right now."

"Come on, Penny. We were good together once. I just want to try to get back to that. Can we?"

"We were good. That's the problem. We aren't good anymore. I have a new life and new friends and I just don't want to go through that again."

"You won't. Please, babe, just let me try."

"Nope, not thinking about it. Just video games. You guys have a good setup."

Lol, thanks. And yes, the San Myshuno crew really doesn't get the respect they deserve. They actually helped me get back into Sims 4 after being super disappointed with the base game.

Lovely couple, nice roomates, and an amazing setup, good start you have going here.
And i could not stop laughing at this, its like taken out of my head. Only thing is that I always calculate that the first generation wont reach the average, and I do not want helpers.

"Very well. 144 skills across 9 generations comes to an average of 15 maxed skills per generation or 5 skills per sim for a 3 sim generation or 4 skills in a generation of 4. 55 aspirations across 9 generations comes to 6 aspirations per generation or 2 per sim, provided, of course, that the random aspiration is not time sensitive. Combine that with 29 adult career branches and the fact that you're going to want move members out and in, you're looking at 4 careers per generation. Unless, of course, the Vampire generation agrees to carry the 10 children burden and those children live in the house until they max a career. Any number over 4 would be hugely beneficial for the legacy. As for parties, you'll need 14 gold medal events per generation on average to complete those points."

I'm glad this part is super relatable. Yeah, if you're not adding helpers, it's pretty hard for Gen 1 to reach the average. The good news, though, is that extra point down the line for the 10 kids. If a player can find balance between moving out the kids and letting the kids stay and max a career, that generation can make up a lot of ground.

Avengers Assemble indeed.  Must say, you gave me Infinity Wars flashbacks, so this reply almost started with movie spoilers  ;=)
Seriously, though, looks like you're shaping up into having a lovely little household.  Raj is awesome.  I had him as a helper in my RDC and he was great at everything...well, not great at pollinating, but otherwise.
The continual references to you as "Wizard" reminded me of "Oz the Great and Powerful."  Just kept hearing Little China Girl's voice  :=)

Thanks, I'm glad you're enjoying it. Raj has been surprisingly helpful, he's basically Dad 2 in the house to every kid and has a great relationship with them. I'm normally put off by Slob sims but man does he make up for it. Thanks for noticing the Wizard reference, it may or may not become important down the road.

Great start! I was surprised that you used those well-known City Living sims as most everyone avoids premades unless they are part of their storytelling.
A little revision of your Popularity category math, hee.
1000 points divided by 3 (1 point = 3 gold medals) = 334 social events.
That's roughly either 34 social events/generation (for 10 generations), or 38 social events/generation (for 9 generations).
I have never managed to earn all 10 points in the Popularity category---all those social events (even dates, which are the fastest/easiest) are too much of a grind.

*quickly runs and edits post* Nobody saw that, right? Lol, it was a typo over here, thanks for catching it. I see one thing, my fingers type something different, you know how it goes. Yep, 37-38 gold parties a generation for 9 generations (1000/9/3=37.03) is just too much of a grind for me. Like, no. Every heir could come out with the Party Animal Aspiration and I still wouldn't try to get all of those points. Especially in a fun, not at all serious run. I considered starting with some spawned townies but I love the San Myshuno sims and don't really see them all that often in stories. That and having two sims already high up the career ladder helps me keep the average in the center and they are just fun.

Watcher's notes: Toddler spam part 1! Enjoy!


Today is a very special day.

"Bodhi is just aging to toddler, Wizard," Ellie replied from her easel. "I mean,  it's important but it's not unexpected."

It will be his first step into the larger world. Toddler and child skills and aspirations count towards your legacy's point totals and averages. He and his sibling will be well ahead of the curve before they reach their teen years.

"True. Still, it's careers that worry me. Teen jobs don't count for much. And I'm going to be a bit behind if I wait until the kids go to school. Maybe I should start now?" she asked, worry in her voice.

You will be fine. You already maxed Painting and your club has purchased each reward. That should get you to level 5 within the first week. Trust me on that, I have quite a lot of experience in that area.

"Besides," Penny called from the computer, "I'll take a second career once I finish this one. Shouldn't be more than a few days from now."

"Really? Which one?"

"I don't know, honestly," Penny said thoughtfully. "I'll have to think about it. Wizard?"

I would recommend a five day a week career with a skill you already maxed.

"Yeah, like that narrows it down. I've already completed Charisma and Video Gaming and am just about to max Comedy and Handiness."

I would recommend staying away from the Comedian career. That one has too few hours for you to complete it and still have time to retire and enjoy yourself.

"Noted."

Raj, have you decided what you will do once you gain your final promotion?

"Just go to work, Wizard. I don't want to change my job and someone's gotta stay home with the kids while the others are out. They have weekends off and I have week days off. It works fine."

Indeed. Very well. If that is what you want. Are you certain you don't want some sort of romantic relationship or children of your bloodline?

"Maybe later. I've earned enough points for one Potion of Youth if I feel it's necessary."

Hours later, Bodhi aged up into a Fussy toddler in his father's arms.

"Well, at least he's got my eyes," Salim joked as he set his baby boy on the ground.

They compliment his coloring beautifully.

"Papa, whee!!"

And it was adorable. They played until Bodhi passed out on the ground.

To complete Ellie's Leader of the Pack aspiration, a few (temporary) new members joined the club and gathered at the lot.

"Thanks for coming,everyone," Ellie said as she sat for the meal.

"A free Raj Rasoya meal? Lady, anyone would have come," the redhead snarked.

Unfortunately, that was where things went wrong.

"How dare you break my son's dollhouse?? We invite you here and you pull that crud?!?"

The redhead gasped in embarrassment. "Omg, I am so...not sorry. I hate kids, dude, what did you expect?"

That...was rather impressive, Raj.

Bodhi whimpered. "She broke my house, Auntie."

"I know, sweetie, but I fixed it. And Papa chased her away. Okay?"

The first Flea Market came to town and the household decided a trip was in order.

"Keep an eye on Bodhi, Wizard, I'm going to haggle for those fossils," Ellie declared as she headed towards the stall.

"Thank the watchers I only have to do this once," she panted.

"Um, I think the baby's coming," Ellie said in the middle of the family dance session.

"Oh, um hospital?! We have to go-"

"No baby! Don't want!" Bodhi shrieked then cried.

Salim, distract him, would you? I shall help her.

"Yeah, okay, I can do that. Come on, little man."

"Don't want, don't want!"

"There we go," Salim said soothingly. "Splish splash."

"Splish, splish, splish," Bodhi giggled.

"We're going to get all squeaky clean now, okay?"

"Yay, Daddy, squeaky, squeak, squeakum."

"You okay, Wizard?" Ellie asked.

There was some sort of...dark flash for a moment.

"Huh, really? Is that a Watcher thing or something?"

It can be difficult for sims to recognize it if it happens, yes.

"Oh, okay. Well, you want to meet the twins?"

Twins???

"Yeah, twins. A girl and a boy. We decided on Sophie and Geordi."

But how? We have no fertility rewards or lot traits. You should not have been able to have twins.

"Well, the chances are small, I grant you," Ellie replied. "But still, this works out nicely. I'll be able to go to work sooner, Ginny has more friends to play with, and Bodhi will get to lead a much bigger pack of kids."

I still do not understand this.

"Well, they're here, I guess we're all going to have to get used to it."

Three babies, two days with four toddlers, three days with three. May the Powers have mercy.




Watcher's notes: Yeah, still don't know how we landed with twins. There actually was a huge amount of lag and the game seemed to glitch out because we only had one free bassinet on the lot. It wouldn't let me into Build lots either. I finally sent Ellie to the hospital alone and boom, another bassinet appeared and she returned with twins. It was really weird.

Thanks, I love Penny a lot and her starting stuff just looks really drab on her. I'm usually adverse to a lot of color on my sims but she makes it work wonderfully. Lol, wonder no more! We'll see what the future has in store for little Ginny.

It's really amazing what a new haircut, eyebrows, etc can do for a sim's looks. Salim just needs a little love to bring out his good looks. Lol, you'll just have to wait and see re: Ginny. I will say, though, that I usually test how various couples' offspring will look before I allow them to reproduce, just to make sure I can live with whatever pops out. The blitz didn't happen this week because of super duper long work days but fortunately, I have a three day weekend now. This time, it hsould work. *fingers crossed*

She really looks great in bright colors, it surprised even me. Bodhi is such a cool name, and I figured it honors the kid's heritage a little, given that I see Salim as Indian/Persian. Wait no more for the new kids. I hope you're as surprised as I was.

Oh wow XD Twins do happen without the rewards.  I can't remember, are you using MCCC?  I know there is a specific module you can tweak to lessen the chance of twins, while taking into account things like Fertility, etc.

Twins can happen without help. I've had it happen plenty of times.  I love the little tantrum Bodhi was having about having a sibling. Poor Penny, she so doesn't like having kids, does she?

Ellie and Raj readied the toddlers for their birthdays. Little Sophie was allowed to do her own thing because she’d already secured Happy Toddler.

“So, you ready to do this?” Ellie asked, a bit nervous.

“Ellie, I’ve made cakes for kings and queens, practically. Relax. They’ll all have a good birthday. Salim and I will celebrate after they’re done.”

“I know, Raj, and seriously, thank you for all you’ve done. I’ve just got a funny feeling, that’s all.”

“Well, cheer up. You’ll be going to work on Monday, right? Decided what path you’re taking?”

“Not yet. It depends on where I end up at the end of week, I think.”

Correct. One branch has more days a week at higher levels than the other. If you make it to level 5 or 6 by this time next week, I’ll allow either one.

“How magnanimous of you,” Ellie said sarcastically. “I’m going to round up the kids.”

Yeah, it's so nice knowing that I get through the Toddler stage in one play session. They're cute but a dang handful. And yep, the only restrictions on heir are bloodline and tweaking parents' parts so that they can bear the heir. It's a way for me to test whether the carrying parent's genes have more influence overall than the sire. We'll see how it goes. I am glad for the break as well. It'll be so great to get this stuff up. I'm thinking 2 or 3 updates until the kids are all teens and everyone can have a good look at them all.

I don't play with mods for the most part, I have enough bugs and glitches in my game I don't need to court any more. I wasn't mad, just super surprised, especially because the twins are completely fraternal (ie even if they were the same gender, they look almost nothing alike). Thanks for reading.

Twins can happen without help. I've had it happen plenty of times.  I love the little tantrum Bodhi was having about having a sibling. Poor Penny, she so doesn't like having kids, does she?

Lol, I can't blame Penny. She likes being a mom but the process isn't exactly pleasant . I honestly felt kinda bad for him as toddler, he was all by himself and had no one to play with most of the time. Raj and Ellie were good with him but he always wanted more attention.

Hooray for unexpected twins!  And with Penny's daughter you have 2 boys and 2 girls in the house, perfect!  Of course, that's easy for me to say because I don't have to play all the toddlers at once.  I just get to enjoy all the toddler cuteness.

Very, very true. Bodhi is a cutie. It ended up being a good thing I had twins just because they're all closer in age, which helps with the heir voting.
