(You can read this post on Wordpress HERE)1.2 — Hard Work & Heart BreakPicking off from where we left off, Ying got herself a job as a Palette Cleaner. There was still a day or so before work would start for her so she headed off to Casbah Gallery, San Myshuno to study up her new trade.
Ying: "Early bird gets the worm! Always best to be prepared!"
Ying can't afford an easel at the moment. She doesn't even have a bed and has been jumping between the Spa-Gym and Parks to get her fix of food, showers and sleep. So the easels in the gallery will have to do.
Not only does she get to fufil her daily task and level her painting skill, I'm pretty sure she levels it faster in the gallery if those sparkly, golden icons above her head are indicative of anything. Must be the décor. Or maybe it's a lot trait?
Ying: "Whatever it is, I'm overflowing with inspiration! Just wait and see! I'm gonna paint something awesome!"
Are those... humanoid cats?Ying: "Yeah. Cute aren't they? On the way to the gallery I saw two meows getting it on. Must've stuck with me."
Ying's first portait sells for a miniscule profit of $6, but no matter. She paints for the rest of the day, leveling her skill. The profits she gets from her portaits also scale up with her skills. It's not much, but some cash is better than no cash. It's pretty much her routine for the next few days. Work. Skill. Sleep. Work some more.
All that hard work pays off and she gets promoted a couple of times! She's no longer a lowly Palette Cleaner, and is now a Hungry Artist. With all the money she's managed to save from her promotions and portrait sales, she finally has enough to afford a bed, an easel of her own, and basic hygiene facilities ( no sink though ).
Hungry Artist is a pretty apt description of Ying's situation. There's still no fridge, simply because Ying is stingy and insists that she can still live off the grill by the beach.
Ying: "A fridge is way too expensive at the moment. And totally not necessary."
You can afford it. Running to the grill everytime you need to eat is so inconvenient...Ying: "Eh. I'd much rather spend my money on making more portraits to sell. Don't worry, I'll make enough to buy that fridge soon enough."
She's way too practical for her own good. Sometimes I wonder if she'll ever learn to enjoy herself.
But hey! Here's a cute shot of Ying sleeping in her new bed. No more benches and sofas!
This update would've been rather boring, since Ying was basically trying to grind her painting skill and power through her career. A tough childhood has left her pioritising money above almost everything else, and she can't bear to do anything other than work for more money while she's still so strapped financially. But everyone has their exceptions. And for Ying, her exception was Marcus Flex.
The Humor and Hijinks Festival rolled by, and Marcus asked Ying
out on a date if she wanted to go with him, and she said yes in a heartbeat.
Awww, so you do like him.Ying: "Of course I like him. He's a nice guy. A good friend."
You know what I mean ~Ying: "I don't know what you're trying to insinutate but—"
Ying and Marcus sitting on a tree. K-i-s-s-i-n—Ying: "OKAY. That is so childish! What are you? Five? I just thought it'd be nice to have a break from all that painting. And I also can't have my friendships detoriating because of my work."
If you say so.Ying totally likes him. I mean, look at that hug!
Their little social gathering soon turns into an actual date and well, no one's complaining.
Marcus and Ying are pretty cute together. For one, Marcus plays along and responses really well to Ying. If she flirts, he doesn't just take it, he flirts back. And their back and forth is really cute to watch.
They flirt so naturally the 'date meter' easily hits gold range in no time. Ying is totally smitten, and it's not surprising. She's never dated or ever gotten involved in a romance before and here's Marcus. A man who plays off her so well and knows all the right words to say. Things were going so well, and surely the feelings were mutual. Right?
Ying thought so. The mood was right, so she gathered her wits and took a leap of faith and asked Marcus to be her boyfriend...
ONLY TO BE REJECTED. WHAT?!?Marcus: "Erm, sorry. But no. Not ready for that sort of thing yet Ying."
Why!? He was totally into you like just moments ago!Ying: *sniffs*
Turns out the jerk has noncommittal as a trait. Grrrrrr....
I can't believe he still has the nerve to look all smug and blasé about the whole affair.Ying: "You said that we had something special! That no other girl has ever made you feel this way!"
Marcus: "Yea— Well, I mean. We do!
Ying: "Then why are you so against us becoming a couple? At least tell me why you rejected me!"
Marcus: "It's not like I don't like you or anything, but do we really need to put a label on... this?"
Ying: "This?"
Marcus: "Yeah. We have it good now right? Why change it?"
Ying: "Because it tells me you're serious about 'this'."
Marcus: "But I am serious."
Ying: "Urgh, nevermind."
Marcus: '"So, I think our date's coming to an end. But wanna do this again some other time? There's this bar in Windenburg that's—"
Ying: "Yeah. Whatever. I gotta go. Night."
Urgh. I oughta just. Just. JUST HAVE HIM PEE HIMSELF AND THEN DIE OF SHAME. If it weren't for the legacy testingcheats would've wrecked his sorry ass.Ying: "There's no need to go so far... but thanks Watcher. It's nice to know you're looking out for me."
Ying: *Burp* "Am I doing it right?"
The rejection took a hit on Ying's mood so she went and had a go at the bubble blower to bring it up. It was her first time so it took a while for her to figure out how to use it properly. She felt a little better afterwards and decided to retire for the night. Starting tomorrow, Ying is probably going to throw herself into her work. At least work and money won't break her heart.
On the bright side of things, at least she got her first Gold Medal for the date despite things sort of going awry towards the end. One step closer to finishing up her aspiration.
Authur's Notes:Well. That certain was a curveball. What am I gonna do now??? Lol ~
Sorry if my legacy seems sort of grindy. I'm not great at writing nor am I used to starting out with so little finacially on Sims so I'm just a little obsessed with the number on the left-bottom corner. Thank goodness it fits Ying's character.
With rules and legacy goals to fufil though, hopefully I'll branch out a little more so I can write something more entertaining. >< I mean. Ying has to get like 8 boyfriends eventually and that ought to be exciting?
