It's a H*ckin' Good Dynasty, Bront (a 10 gen townie dynasty starting with Brant)

Heya folks, I'm doing a 10 gen townie challenge with Brant Hecking as the founder, and I'll be posting story updates here and stuff. I've played just far enough to get to where points start being counted, and I'm gonna give you a rundown on what I've done so far to start. I'm using the museum in BB as my family museum. After moving my elder into Crick Cabana and going to manage worlds, I went about filling the empty lots according to the rules. I used only lots that are in one's library by default, and tried to keep the worlds diverse in the lot types they contained. The 3 empty lots in WC I filled with Creekside Smooth, the picnic spot, and the cadenza lounge, since they are 30x20 lots designed for WC and all lot types the world doesn't already have. In Oasis Springs, I put Desert Muse in the empty lot in Johnny Zest's neighborhood and the Dust Bowl in the other empty 30x20. While going by their screenshots both are designed for the one in JZ's hood, I find the OSDB looks better in the other empty lot so I put it there and put DM in the intended lot. For the 40x30 I put Enchanted Springs because I've always found that lot to be a good fit for OS, even if it's technically meant for Windenburg.

Now as for Newcrest, I put Paw-Readers Palace and Crick Cabana in the 20x15 lots. In the other 3 lots in that neighborhood, I put, from left to right, Patchy's, Halvsies, and Club Slate. I like to put those 3 all adjacent to each other and in the same hood to give it a bit of a 'downtown' feel. For the eastern neighborhood, I put Commodial Residence in the northmost 30x20, the Perfect Balance Spa in the southmost, and the Lost Gardens of Healing in the 40x30, since going by their screenshots those are the lots they're meant for. I completed the hood by putting the Newcrest gym and library in the last 2 lots, the 40x20 going to the gym as I thought it could use the extra space more. For the south hood, I put Chez Llama in the 30x20, the Newcrest Park in the lot next to it, and Suspended Modern in the 50x40, the latter 2 deliberately going in lots too big for them because I wanted the extra space. Widow's Watch went to to 30x30 because I didn't want FH to be entirely residential lots and I wanted NC to have at least one residential lot in each of its 3 hoods. Country Clinic went in the remaining lot to ensure Brindleton Bay didn't have 2 vet clinics.

For the empty lot in MP, I put L'Attente Bistro there because I like to have a variety of restaurants spread throughout several different worlds, and I feel it goes well with MP. In Windenburg I put Tudor Bungalow in the 40x30 because it's designed for it and looks really good there, so I never fail to put it there. The 20x20 got Mimsy's Cottage Cafe because even though it means WB ends up with 3 cafes, there's no other empty 20x20 lot in the game. FH got Villa Bovine because I thought a fancy restaurant like it fit FH better than any of the others, and it has a darker color scheme than Chez Llama. In BB, I put The Diving Pelican in Dachsund's Creek because I think a seafood restaurant fits BB well and that lot is closish to the sea, and in the other empty lot in Cavalier Cove I put Seaside Stories because its meant for that lot. I put Luxe Health Club in the final 30x20 in BB because its a pretty nice gym and BB doesn't have any gyms. I replaced Pupperstone Park with Peppy Puppy Playpark since its a bit nicer imo, and I didn't want 2 parks in BB. Finally, I put The Muckery in the remaining empty lot because BB lacks a nightclub and putting it there means BB gets one that's also in the same hood as its bar and lounge.

I did save after this, and I proceeded to start adding objects to the community lots, but sadly, when I was nearly done with this time-consuming task, the game crashed on me and I hadn't saved since I finished placing lots. I really don't feel like doing it all again, so instead the first time I visit a given community lot I'll be adding objects and stuff, rather than all at once at the beginning like one's technically supposed to do.

Before I began playing the Heckings, I went and made it so Brant, my founder, can get pregnant. I'm hoping gender customization of my founder isn't illegal, as I want he and Brent to have a biological heir. I then began playing them, pausing the game and placing the career reward objects sitting in the family inventory like so:

I gave the lot the traits 'training ground', 'breeding ground', and 'dog hangout', as I thought it fitting to give it pet related traits. I decided to get the collection and portrait requirements out of the way immediately by having Brant take several photos of him, his hubby, and his dog, using 3 for the portraits and the rest for the collection. I then traveled to the family museum, Deadgrass Discoveries, and setup a little wall for the photos, before placing them.

And that's the tale so far, time for the meat of the challenge to begin. I'm gonna work on conceiving an heir and accumulating points now, and I already have designated skills for Brant in mind: Gardening and Painting. They go well with his traits and he has no points in them at the start, so they're perfect. I'm doing Gardening first as if I did painting first I'd have to hold off on having him harvest plants to avoid him gaining the gardening skill before I was ready. Anyway, that's all for now, the real story begins next time.

Yay! What a great choice for founders! I love the Heckings, and I'm so excited to see what they get up to.
Thanks for your detailed description of your world set-up, too! I hope to do one of these someday, so I'm taking notes. Sounds like you have it all really well thought out.

I like them too. It's nice to finally see a gay couple in the sims 3, and I like how they're interracial too instead of just a couple of white guys. And yeah, I put a lot of thought into what lots I placed and where since Sims 4 only has a limited number of lots in a given save file and there isn't even enough for all the default library lots, let alone if you decided to download some from the gallery. I'd like to see another 'Newcrest' be added in the future. And I'm looking forward to cute babies too. They had a pretty daughter in one of my legacies and my heiress in said file intends to marry her when they reach adulthood. They're teens and dating at the moment.


Anyway here is the first update. It only covers day one because that's all I had time to play today. It's late where I live and I'm gonna sleep soon. I spoilered it for readability, so one need not have to scroll through it to see later posts on this page.

Little Rosie loves her owners so much that she followed them into the bedroom. Unfortunately, they're about to try for a baby in there, so Brant shoes her out of there so they can get some privacy. Such a cute pupper.

Brant is now expecting, hooray. It kinda disturbs me that he still has a prominent six-pack while also having a 'baby bulge', and makes me wonder if it's biologically accurate. I haven't exactly ever seen a pregnant trans man or cis woman with a prominent six pack before.

I love that they both wear bunny slippers. After sharing the big news, Brant decided to chat up his hubby in order to become good friends with him.

As they talked, Brent decided to practice dancing in front of the mirror. He eventually rejoined Brant on the bed, and after a couple sim hours of talking, they become good friends. Point 1 get!

He then works on becoming good friends with Rosie. I figure since he starts so close to good friendship with his housemates, I might as well get becoming good friends with them out of the way now.

He's so happy after befriending his dog that he clacks his heels together.

By the time they reached good friendship, he had become a bit hungry, so he made some grilled cheese. To my surprise, despite being at cooking level 1, it ended up being excellent.

Look at all these strays barging in uninvited. Maybe giving this lot the dog hangout trait was a mistake.

Brant went on down to the local gym to find someone to mentor in fitness for his job. Looks like Eliza Pancakes is teaching the art of yoga to Dina Caliente, Marcus Flex, and Paolo Rocca. He eventually goes home to sleep after being unable to find someone to mentor. And so ends the first day of Brant's dynasty.

I briefly played Brant for the last challenge and he was a great sim. I'm looking forward to see where you go with those two and Rosie.

For the lot trait, I used the cat hangout one, and the outside of the house (I locked them out) was constantly filthy. Interested to see if the dog one has the same problem.

Haha, let's hope she doesn't. When the heir moves out I just might bring her with them, not sure yet. And how could I not keep them together? They are such a cute couple, and that's saying something coming from me since I usually only care about lesbian couples.

For some reason when Brant got home J and Don were standing on the sidewalk outside his house in towels. They left pretty much immediately, and Brant then went to sleep, his hubby soon joining him in bed. He woke up at around 4:00 am, went downstairs and had some leftover grilled cheese for breakfast, before going back upstairs to shower before work.

Rosie followed him into the bathroom, because of course she did. He finished his shower just in time to go to work.

How cute, Brent autonomously decided to play with Rosie while his husband was at work. Mila Munch contacted him to offer him free earbuds, which he accepted. Has anyone ever actually declined them before?

Brent finds a bunch of stray dogs hanging about as he leaves for work. Brant's fun was a bit low when he got home so I had him admire one of the many paintings in the house.

Brant then went back to the gym to find someone to mentor, but once he got there he became hungry, so I had him order a haddock sandwich both to fill his need and learn the recipe.

His fun was a bit low again when he finished, so I had him head back home and give Rosie a walk. Brent got home around this time.

Marcus Flex then called and offered to take Brant to the Humor and Hijinks Festival to watch the fireworks, and I figured sure, why not. I even had him take his husband and dog too.

Since he's a good guy, I had him and the others join the Jokesters. Not sure why Liberty is a vendor, she's supposed to start with a job. Curious, I had Brant ask her about her career, and sure enough, she answered vendor instead of astronaut. There seems to be an odd bug currently where some pre-mades who are supposed to start with jobs instead end up unemployed.

Brant is sleepy at this point so I have him go nap in the Casbah. In the meantime, Marcus does stand-up. I do end up interrupting Brant's nap so he could feed Rosie, who'd become hungry, a few treats. Brent meanwhile ate and learned how to cook merguez. Brant was not yet ready to nap again, as he had to pee, so I had him do that, and then he was hungry, so I had him order some pho to help him with spice tolerance and chopstick dexterity. Then he went back to napping.

Katrina had a bit of an accident when setting off a firework.

Jokesters won! Once all the festival items disappeared, I sent the Heckings back home to sleep. Rosie made a lot of noise in her sleep, as she slept by her owners, but didn't wake them up. It's a good thing Brant has Tuesday off cuz he woke up at 6 with low bladder and hunger. After going potty, Brant went downstairs to eat, filling the dog bowl before getting his food, leftover gc of course. The dog followed him down as usual and yowled as he filled her bowl. With how much noise Rosie makes one might think she has a hidden vocal trait or something. As he finished his food, I had him wake up his husband for work. I took the liberty of dragging the dirty dishes that had been left on the dining table to the sink, as they had begun to negatively affect the mood of those near them.

I sent him back to gym, and he finally found someone to mentor: Dina Caliente. He managed to befriend her as he did so. He hit his 3rd trimester too, so I had him take family leave once Dina stopped using the machine.

Mentoring Dina only got his daily task to 25% complete, so I had him move on to mentoring Paolo next. Brant ended up 50% done once Paolo stopped, and I had him go take a potty break, after which he needed to sleep, so I took him home. Pregnancy does quite a number on sims' needs, and I find the further in the faster the drain.

He ended up waking up not long after Brent got home from work, and he was hungry again, so I had him eat more gc. Gosh his belly looks so h*cking wrong.

The strays decided to nap on the Heckings' floor. The sleeping ones are named Rania Abd Al Kader and Pranav Ramesh, quite odd names for stray dogs to have. The other is named Dakota, a much more normal name. After eating and peeing, I send Brant back to the gym where he mentors Paolo again.

While mentoring Paolo, he got an invite from Bjorn to have dinner at Chez Llama, which he accepted, taking his hubby along too.

The meal. As you can see, the iconic Goth family is eating at this place too. I took them home once they finished, and decided to look the door so that pets couldn't come in besides Rosie. That way the strays won't steal her food.

After using the toilet, Brant went back to the gym one last time, taking Dina along, and mentoring her until at last his daily task became completed. It was back home after that.

While waiting for Brant to go into labor, I had him begin harvesting the wild plants in the neighborhood to level gardening, and to complete the 1st milestone of his aspiration, which he did via a single daisy bush that happened to be holding 10 of the things. He became tired after collecting it and 2 catnip plants, so I sent him to bed.

Bjorn, who came home with Brent and Brant, decided to play with Rosie while they slept.

I had Brant go back to collecting plants once he woke up, peed, and ate. Or I meant to, but on his way to the 1st one, he finally went into labor! I quickly built a basement and added a toddler room.

Meet Jaqueline Hecking, the latest addition to the Hecking household. I think I'll end the update here, it's a good stopping point, no? She seems cute so far, let's hope she stays that way as she ages up.

MarianT has explained that the game only loads one lot at a time but my game still dislikes having an overly large Tray folder.
Rather than hijacking your thread to explain, perhaps I'll do maps in my thread next time.

You are brave to choose the Dog-Friendly lot. Don't the visiting dogs leave poop everywhere?
Also, I wonder if a dog with a family name has an owner somewhere and is merely visiting. I'd though, but I'm not sure, that only pets with just a first name are true strays.

I didn't realize having a dog hangout would end up like this. I haven't seen too much poop yet but I'm sure it'll pile up.
And yeah, this lot is a breeding ground. Since it looks like Rosie'll be having pups, I'm sure a full litter can be expected.

I like my sims to get out and socialize instead of being shut-ins.

And yeah, I'm betting she'll grow up to be hecking great.

Rosie had become so dirty flies were buzzing around her, so Brant gave her a bath.

When he woke up, Brent had to make his own grilled cheese, as the leftovers had finally run out.

He did make sure to look after the baby, meaning Brant could finally get some uninterrupted rest.

Rosie's poop spawned a trash flower that I didn't want, so I went into build mode and sold it. I'll be sure to drag any poop I see into Brant's inventory in the future, apparently it makes good fertilizer.

Paolo offered Brant an invitation to Powerhouse, which he accepted. It should help him build fitness skill for work.

I had him swim since his fun was low and that builds fitness while also raising fun.

1st thing he did when he got home was water the garden, which was in desperate need of it.

The he went for a jog with Rosie, another activity that builds fitness and fun, and his fitness got to level 5.

Meanwhile Brent finally made a painting, before he went to bed.

After selling the painting and making sure his and the baby's needs were taken care of, I had him work on getting to level 5 charisma for work, initially using the mirror, but once his hubby woke up I had him do a handful of socials on him and he finally got to level 5.

He got a quick jog with Rosie in before going to bed.

I bought a toy box for Rosie, that she immediately began using, because of hecking course she did.

I love how the strays are licking up the puddles Brant leaves behind from watering the plants. Such cute doggos, I feel kinda bad for locking them out, but they were eating poor Rosie's food, so I don't think I had much choice. That's all for this update, see ya next time.
