Journal entry, Lyanna Flint

I absolutely love my job.



I just wish I had more chances to work on the rocket.



Hands down, the best perk of my job at FutureSims is Proudwing.



For whatever reason, the number of vampires showing up at our house is much higher than usual.

Willem, who was playing with the twins’ toys again (he’s got the childish trait and can’t help it) looked up from Tentacle Tom and pointed out that since there’s almost always one of us awake that it probably isn’t anything to worry about.

I don’t care. It bugs me.

So last night when that annoying Vlad guy was standing on the porch for hours, I zapped him.



We were getting ready for bed and then another vampire started hissing and clawing at the door and I zapped him too.



It. Was. Awesome.

Grade School report of Davos Flint

My name is Davos Flint. I am seven. I have a twin sister. Her name is Serra. I wish I was in her class. She gets to draw all the time in her class and Mrs. Fyres does not make them write stupid papers.



My other sister is named Marya and she is a silly toddler.



We are part of something called the Project. Mommy says she will explain more about it to me when I grow up.

Daddy stays at home and takes care of us. Mommy is a scientist. She cannot talk about what she does. She said she works on rocket ships and inventions. Aunt Shireen says Mommy gets to meet aliens. She has a laser gun that is called Proudwing. I am not allowed to play with it. Mommy says she needs it to fight off the vampires.



I had a nightmare about vampires coming into the house while Mommy was at work. Daddy said I shouldn’t worry because vampires do not hurt children. He also said he would not let them in.

Tomorrow is Marya’s birthday. Mommy says Aunt Cassana and Aunt Shireen and cousin Nathan will be coming over and that we will have strawberry cake.

The freeze-ray is an awesome solution to your vampire problem.  I'll have to remember that.

Also, I loved Davos's school report.  I think his teacher should let him draw pictures, too, but his report was very informative.

I like Davos a lot so far. He's got a wonderful, skeptical personality, and he's a joy to read.
I feel for Lyanna. Grief is tough. I'm glad she's got her simray as a means of getting out her aggressions. And, really, two vampires in one night is just excessive. They had it coming.

You'd think the vampires would know not to come here anymore...


The more I advance in my career at FutureSims, the more I love it.



Sometimes, though, after I’ve had to do something that is a little bit morally dubious, it bothers me how much I still love the work.



Part of my experiments today required me to make Dominick Marin change his clothes (he has terrible taste, btw). He’s always been a jerk so forcing him to work in his swimwear was not unpleasant.



Lately, I’ve been able to work more on the wormhole flux generator. Kelvin Holguin tells me that there’s talk that I will be chosen to test the alien environment in the "very near future" and that a trip to Sixam may be in my very near future.




Marya aged up to a child. It's kind of nice having three little ones running around, although I do miss them a lot while I'm at work.

I age up officially to adult tonight.



Time is passing so quickly so the sooner the "very near future" is the better and there’s so much to do still. Looking at my list:

•   Build a 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom home (3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, thank you very much)
•   Get the house up to $50k after depreciation (we’re about 15k short of the goal)
•   Achieve level 10 of the Rocket Science Skill  (I need to move on this. I’m only at 6)



(It would help if they let me work on the rocket more.)


•   Achieve level 10 of the Scientist Career (about 2 promotions away)
•   Travel to Sixam (not yet)
•   Acquire at least 3 unique items from one or more of the following categories: geodes, space rocks, alien plants, alien metals, alien crystals, or alien elements (not yet)
•   Befriend and move in an alien (not yet - the ones I've met so far all seem to have families)



•   Produce and raise an heir to the young adult life stage (he's still a child. I was hoping I could influence him to be an artistic prodigy, but no matter what I try he will not use the activity table)

Willem’s painting continues to bring in a pretty good sum, but those light wells in the basement cost so much.



He's such a good father. Marya follows him around like a puppy.



Is it wrong that I won’t mind it if tomorrow’s work tasks include making my annoying work colleagues do things again?

Well, she's under a lot of pressure. You really can't blame her for wanting to take out a little stress on her co-workers. Especially the mean ones.

No, Lyanna, it is not a problem that you enjoy making your colleagues do ridiculous, embarrassing, or horrid things.  It simply displays an enthusiasm for your work  ;=)
Lyanna is rather outstanding. 
I thought it was sweet that little Marya got some time in the spotlight in this one.  Of course, I have a soft spot for daddy's girls as I have one of those myself  ;=)
Lyanna's really doing well on her checklist!  Looking forward to seeing her knock more of this out of the park!

Before the Drifter Challenge I had never done any of the active careers and I found to my utter shock, that I liked the Scientist one. A lot.

We’ve got the start of a pretty nice family room in the basement. The kids are all good and we had their birthday party today.





Davos is a dance machine and Serra, unfortunately got glutton. Their clothes were not great and Lyanna made them have makeovers immediately.

I am unable to tell you about my work lately, but I reached the top of the science career tonight.

Can I just say that I love my job?





Davos and Serra are doing well in school. They both paint so much that we bought them their own easels.



I spoke to Davos about the Project for the first time tonight. I have given him the family archives and explained that this is entirely up to him. We have also scheduled a meeting with him and the school counselor so that he is fully aware of all of his options.

Work continues to be exciting.

Things I could have done without today:

The phone call from Serra’s teacher about how she skipped school to go to a party at the Bluffs.

Not one but two people dying around me.

The one sim was a total stranger, but still seeing someone keel over in the neighborhood from too much exertion while jogging was a shock.

I never much cared for Dominick Marin. That was no secret, but I feel so horrible that he died at work in the bathroom no less! I may have watered a dying plant with my own tears.

Chatting with Davos about the project and then sitting down with the school counselor to discuss options was just wonderful!  It's such an odd concept to ponder in real life sitting down and explaining to the counselor that you're part of a project orchestrated by a secret group and are considering just going off and living off the land and so on and so forth.  They'd think you were crazy!  Ah, Sims, how we enjoy your weird little world  :=)
