I have learned that no matter what body shape template my parent Sims have - their offspring all use the pear-shaped template once they have grown up. They might not be pear-shaped to look at, but they still use it. Oh, and about 90% of the randomly generated male townies in my games also use it. I have...no more words *facial tic*

My sims have yet to give birth to pear-shaped offspring so I thought we were safe, as long as we avoided introducing pear-shaped sims into their genetic pool.

I don't know what the difference is between "using the pear template" and "appearing pear-shaped," but I sure have an excess of pear-shaped male NPCs in my games.

If you go into CAS and click on 'body' on top (now only possible in cas.fulleditmode), the pear template is the second from the left on the top of the list. That's the template, but you can pull at your Sim's flab, so that he/she doesn't look downright pear shaped. Don, for instance, uses a template further down on the list. Caleb too. So why does a cross between other templates (in my case always) result in a Sim that uses the pear?

Thank you for explaining that! Why would the pear shape be a randomized genetic outcome!?  Why?
It just makes no sense. One brunette parent + blonde parent = offspring who is brunette or blonde

I had a pear-shaped sim marry into my legacy family last year. His shoulders were impossibly narrow and his hips more than twice as wide.
I tried an Insta-Lean potion as well as using the weightlifting machine to "build his upper body."
The result was barely noticeable but he looked healthier, I guess.
I ended up overlooking his pear shape because he was such a great household member, but I didn't allow him to procreate...

I have a pear shaped aim in my brownie dynasty and none of his kids so far (3 girls) have been pears when they've aged up to teens. So I've been thinking it was impossible to get pears born naturally?

Like Play and Trip, all sims have their bodies tweaked, especially in the teen years.

That was a typo I meant to say sim haha I wouldn't object to a pear shaped heir though so far everyone has a Nina body
