One of my young adults glitched and aged to adult about 24 hrs after the other.  Am I ok to keep going and stop when the 1st adult ages to elder?

Yes, that's fine.

12 toddlers, 8000 whim points x 1.6 skill multiplier = 12800.  Seems like  the score should be higher with all that work!! I  really enjoyed playing  this one.

This event is now closed. Wow, honestly I am surprised we actually ended up with 40 participants. This was not an easy event -- definitely one of the harder events in recent memory *glares at Marian*. Lol. ;) But, hey...challenges are supposed to be a challenge, right? Great job, everybody. GlazeyLady -- oh, my gosh...that score! Can't wait for the low-down on how you pulled that off. Usually, the great players are bunched up at the top, but wow, that was the definition of a runaway win. Well done.

So, Rug Rats was the 3rd event of the 2018 season which means it's almost World Ranking time for those players that have participated in all events. Woot! :) I'll be posting that soon.

@GlazeyLady well done on the phenomenol win. As suspected I got no time to play but here was my strategy if I was going too: got me around 115k in dry run. Lot=pebble burrow, traits= penny pixies, gnomes and sunny aspect. Parent traits= both outgoing cheerful lto super parents. Neither got a job.

Cas baby= inquisitive. Adopted 2 babies, day 0 to aging, adopted 2 more then 1 day those 2 were due to grow up for staggered start since we had to wait until teen. Then after 4-5 as much as possible.

Keep everything close together. Give a toddler 1 toy and 1 book. No tv, stereo or potty training (not needed).

Concentrate on levelling all 4 need toddler skills to 3 asap. Takes just over a day. Comm= hug and talk, move=slide, think=watch, imag=books. Concentrate on trait compatible skill first. Then spam whims (avoid long ones like potty and change clothes). On last day, skill any remaining to 4 ( do not need lvl 5 for full 8 pt bonus).

Money made by dishes in electric bin. Also give kids in house klepto trait and sell anything toddlers can access in family inventory. Thank goodness hand of watcher was reinstalled.

May be missing something but on train on way to interview :)

Best. Idea. Ever. I was trying to figure out how everyone convinced their parents to make more money. Mine wouldn't touch an easel, woodworking table, or anything else of the kind during practice. Promotions beyond level 2/3 were impossible because they wouldn't level up the right skills either.

Good luck with your interview!  :)

One of my adults got a job in the tech guru career for money. I didn't even think of the trash can which has annoyed me because I always play with that in my normal games.

My strategy was to just keep at the aspirations and the skills naturally followed. I really struggled having any more than 4 toddlers at a time and watching my adults constantly wetting themselves, not washing themselves, and falling asleep in a heap. They really didn't know how to look after themselves! I also had many glitches with one child ending up stuck on top of the fridge which was rather interesting!

Lets just say I'm glad that one is over!

Congratulations, GlazeyLady!

My strategy was as follows:

Parent 1: genius, active, loves outdoors. This Sim got a job in the Astronaut career. I put a chess table, observatory, and treadmill on the lot. By the end of the challenge, she had Logic L7 and Fitness L5. She got to Level 5 of the career. I chose astronaut for the high pay and because Sims will autonomously play chess and use the treadmill if they are active.

Parent 2: Loves outdoors, genius, neat. In retrospect, Loves Outdoors was a mistake because of the +2 happy moodlet. This Sim came very close to hysteria twice. Fortunately, she never quite tipped over.

Income: Astronaut career and Nano can. My Sims ended with $16792, despite adopting 22 toddlers (plus the one CAS toddler).

Feeding toddlers: I moved into Oak Alcove in Newcrest (my favorite lot for challenges) because of the proximity of grills, if needed. I actually only had to send a toddler there twice for food. Although we had to buy a highchair, we did not technically have to use it. I PM'd the team to ask if the highchair could be on the lot, but inaccessible, and was given the green light on that. Same with the potty (HUGE time waster to potty train or use the highchair). So I built a 1X3 "room" and placed the highchair and potty in there so Sims could not autonomously use them. I built a small room and put a grill and a sprinkler in it. I did not give them a fridge. I chose a grill because Sims will autonomously use it (rather than getting a single meal if they have a fridge) and it always provides an 8-serving meal. Once Sims had eaten, I dragged the food into household inventory and pulled it out when toddlers were hungry. I basically forced the parents to cook by not pulling food out for them.

I kept a bathtub in household inventory and only pulled it out when toddlers needed a bath. No bubble baths for parents!

I kept three kids around until they were teens so I had three households to move children into.

That was my main strategy. The rest was just grinding out skills and fulfilling whims with the toddlers. For that , I worked on getting thinking to level 2 and all others to level 4. I stopped thinking at 2 because it tends to take the longest to skill up and felt the time was better spent on whims. I also stuck to quick whims where possible. The grill room was also the crying room. Whenever one of them wanted to cry, I sent them there so they wouldn't wake the others. If a toddler's whims got stuck focused on a parent who was asleep, I would send them to skill instead and focus on someone else's whims for a while.

@cyclonenic  As usual, our thinking was very similar regarding strategy.  I also planned a staggered start, adopting the first toddler at the very beginning of the game, and then staggering the next five over several days, with the last one aging up just before the first one became a teen.  The first one moved out with the last three, but the second and third one stayed.  I kept the second one for most of the game to help out, and the third one moved out when she aged up to teen.  That gave me two houses to move the next children into, and then close to the end, the third one, now YA, moved out giving me the third house.  I planned all the adoptions and age-ups on a calendar, which helped me stay on track adopting at the right time.

I also used the electric bin to get money, but I did give the dad a job (Tech Guru).  I was surprised at how much money the bin actually provides, especially when Watcher grabs any unattended bowls and tosses them ;).  I was worried that wouldn’t be enough, though, for the 21 toddlers I planned to adopt plus all the toys.  But I did sometimes send dad off to adopt right before he was due to go to work, or spam him with toddler requests and successfully kept him from going to work some days.  Toward the end, I tried to make him miss work every day in hopes that he’d get fired, as I had enough money, but wasn’t able to make that happen.

I used the baby tablet, a mirror, nesting blocks, various toys and toddler books, the dollhouse, and the slide, along with play with parent and running around naked (which was hilarious – at one point I had 5 toddlers running around the lot naked-so funny).  Having all these on the lot caused whims to come up for all of them.  The toddlers got between 1750 and 2675 in satisfaction points each, with most of them over 2000, and inevitably as their skills improved, they spawned more and more whims that involved parental attention.  So it helped to mix the focus on skilling and the focus on whims throughout the 3 days.  Having a teen stay on the lot helped because the toddlers would spawn wishes to engage with her.

I also didn’t focus on potty training, just used the diaper.  Baths gave good attention and moodlets that were helpful in spawning wishes. [Correction - whims.  Whew!  Flashback to Sims 3]

The first key thing that I learned about a week in that was big for me was that watching raises thinking.  I didn’t know that, and it seemed like thinking was taking forever to raise in practice, so I planned to just focus on getting 1 skill from thinking.  Once I realized that watching was such an effective way to raise thinking, I was able to get 8 skill points for a lot of the toddlers and 7 for the rest.  And they spawned a lot of wishes to watch their parents and their siblings, so that helped too.

The other key thing was that toddlers sleep much faster in a highchair than in a bed.  I was trying to get the parents to get two tods out of highchairs and into beds – mom was on it, but dad was clueless, and the toddler trying to get his attention fell asleep in the highchair.  After one nap in the highchair, her energy was in the green while the toddler in the bed still had a yellow bar, despite not being as exhausted when she went to sleep.  So I paid more attention and found that a completely exhausted, in-the-red angry toddler can fill the energy bar with 4 naps in the highchair, which takes about 4 hours.  A toddler in bed needed over 10 hours to fill bar with green.  After that, every time they ate, they napped in the highchair - none of them ever went to bed again.  This was also helpful because getting mom and dad to get the toddlers out of the highchair when I needed them to was difficult – having them sleep there gave me more flexibility with parent time.

This was really tedious, though.  I played on normal speed the entire time, and I think my game was paused about half the time as I scrolled through the tods checking for new whims.

@clyclonenic – I’m sorry you didn’t get to play this.  I think you might have beaten my score, given that you knew about the watching/thinking from the beginning, you had dad at home to help more, and if you didn’t know about the highchair, you likely would have discovered it as I did.  Good luck in your interviews.  I’m sure you’ll be great!

And a huge thank-you to the Challenge Team for giving us back Hand of the Watcher.  Without it, I don’t know if I would have been up to attempting this one. Practice without Hand of the Watcher nearly did me in.
