Walls stuck up

Hey all

Just recently started playing 4... long time player of 2 and 3. Every few minutes or so an NPC will walk through my front door and suddenly the walls will change to up with roof so I can no longer see inside the house. I can not find a reasonable way to fix this when it happens.. Moving the sim to another lot then moving them back works... Restarting the game does not, Page Up/ Down on the keyboard does not. If i switch over to build mode I can see inside and change wall settings, but when I go back to story mode the walls go back up.

Any ideas?

Sims 4 base game only, 7700k, 16GB, GTX 1070

Hello xb2003! Welcome to the forum!

While you're in Live Mode, isn't it possible to click the 3D cube icon between the upstairs/downstairs (up triangle/down triangle) and camera icons in the upper right corner of the screen?
That icon will change to a flat square when your walls are down.
The link below to Carl's Guide describes the various keyboard shortcuts, like the End key for Walls Down and the Home Key for Walls Up.

Or might your problem be that these usual ways to lower your walls aren't working for you?
My apologies if I've only stated the most obvious solutions. I tried, lol.

I'm a bit confused when you say 'story mode'. Do you mean 'live mode'? Also is your sim in the detective career?

Try doing a Repair Game (click for a guide) and of course, if you are using mods or cc take them all out, do a game repair and then see if it is all working as it should.

I did mean live mode, I don't know why I said story mode- Sometimes my fingers move faster than my brain. lol

I tried the repair game, nothing changed.

Oshizu: Unfortunately the issue is that the usual ways to lower the walls are not working.

Edit: So I did just find that if I switch to a different active household and switch back, the walls go down and everything is working normally. But I'm hoping someone knows of a bit more permanent solution, as this has been happening frequently.
