Oh my gosh! I am
so sorry guys. I have had a lot going on in RL at the moment... School work, friends, family, you name it! So much for trying to update more regularly....
But, if you can forgive me, on with the show!
Chapter 23- Cue The Soap Opera
FRIDAY
An average Friday morning in the Tunic household. Billi and Esther are both outside, Esther gardening, and Billi working on her topiary skills.
Sammy is invited over, and he and Esther share a summery kiss amongst the flowers.
Esther takes a long, deep breath. This is the moment she has been waiting for. Will she be the princess, or the old spinster? It all depends on Fate now. And Sammy's mood bar.
Esther- Sammy, will you marry me?
For a moment, Sammy is dumb-stuck. Then, he grabs Esther in a tight embrace.
Sammy- Yes.
Just a whisper, but it means so much.
She runs to tell Frank. He grins the biggest grin Esther has ever seen. She thought he might feel like jealous, angry even, but all she can see is joy for his little sister.
Frank- Hey, go tell Mum. She'll be over the moon.
But sadly, Frank is wrong. Very wrong indeed.
Esther rushes in, all a flutter, and breathlessly informs her mother of the joyful news. Billi's jaw drops.
Billi- What?! How could you! Don't you dare marry him, you disobedient girl! He is not good enough for you!
She screams in stormy rage. Billi just manages to reclaim her voice enough to speak. Or yell.
Esther- Shut up! I hate you! I will marry him, nothing you can do!
Her big green eyes fill with tears, and she flees from the room.
Billi goes to steam outside. As she ferociously pours a drink, she is sure that she has made the right choice.
But, still, Esther is equally sure that she right.
SATURDAY
After an almost sleepless night, Esther gets up for some gardening.
Billi sculpts, carefully ignoring her daughter. Until she drives off.
Billi panics. Not knowing where her daughter is going really hurts Billi. Then she sees the taxi turn the corner into Shabby McTabby's Watering Hole.
Billi realizes how much it hurt to think her daughter was leaving for just a moment. What if she left for life?
Meanwhile, Esther is at the bar with her new fiancé, talking and laughing. She is putting on a cheery face, but deep down, her heart is breaking. Although she knows that for her mother, nobody will ever be good enough, it still hurts. What if her mother never forgives her?
Then, suddenly, her mother walks in. Billi walks straight over to her daughter.
Billi- Esther, my beautiful girl, please forgive me.
Esther is shocked, but pulls her mother in for a hug. By the time it's finished, both girls are crying.
Billi soon is chatting happily to Sammy.
Billi- Actually, you aren't too bad!
Oops. Accidentally said out loud. Sammy just grins.
Back at home, Esther is recounting the series of events to Frank.
Esther- Seriously, we should have our own soap-opera!
Frank is just glad everything has turned out okay for two of his favorite people.
SUNDAY
Billi, yet again, attempts to get to work on time.
Esther gets ready. For what? You may ask. Well, yesterday, a deal was made between the Tunic girls. Esther wanted a quiet wedding. Billi, predictably, wanted a huge bash. Finally, they agreed on a solution.
Yep. It's time for the bachelorette party of the year!
Esther- Mum? Are you sure I don't look... Well, a bit... promiscuous?
Billi- Love, you look fabulous! Pa-tay!
And par-tay she did.
Half the ladies from Ruby Isle turned up to the Disco Nites' Club. So did a few scantily-clad army men.
Esther was rather shy at first, but soon, thanks to good ol' 'peer pressure' (Mainly her mum), she was soon wearing a rather revealing ensemble.
In the end, the only reasons that Esther agreed to go home was because
a) Most of the guests were passed out on the dance floor,
b) She was completely soaked in nectar, and finally
c) Her WEDDING was tomorrow!
Thanks for reading, and sorry again for the delay.
