2018 TS4 Building Challenges Discussion Thread

First of all, I want to say how excited I am to see the entries for the first challenge on February 16th!

Secondly, as a simmer who exclusively plays dynasty challenges and tournament challenges, I would personally prefer building challenges that contribute to that kind of gameplay.
The #carlsguiderdc offerings consist mainly of 1-bedroom starters so I'm really pleased with the first challenge.
These are the types of lots I would love to tackle in future challenges, not in order of preference, to add diversity to #carlsguiderdc selections.
* More mid-range houses
* Cottage
* Beach house
* Toddler park (the only one dynasty challengers can download at the moment is MaxisCreator_01's Park and Play)
* Spa resort
* Restaurant
* "Glamping" rental for Granite Falls that accommodates toddlers/pets
* Cafe
* Vet clinic
Okay, so I realize I'm not being very imaginative or original at all, but I'm mainly thinking it would be fantastic for building challenge participants to create lots that we, as members of this wonderful forum community, could legally place in both our challenge games and for-fun games.

Thanks @oshizu  I can say that some of those suggestions are already on the discussions table, so to speak but we only do a few competitions during the year due to time constraints and all that so don't get your hopes up for all!

I just made a quick list of possibly fun-to-build-and-use lots off the top of my head.

I have an idea to share as well. More Than Meets The Eye - the idea is that the outside of the house is vastly different than the inside.

Examples: looks like simple country cottage for a sweet grandma but on the inside, a high tech villain's lair.  Another example, a warehouse on the outside but a cozy family home on the inside.

To help people along, there could be two contrasting idea lists to pick from: outside look and inside look. Or people can make up their own

Quickly, do you submit your entry to the gallery at the end date of the challenge (Feb, 14) or do you wait for approval first?

After the winner has been announced for this challenge. That will be Mon. Feb.27th probably in the evening, pacific time.

Thanks MrsFlynn for the clarification. Going back and rereading the building challenge rules and set up, I really like how it has been structured to be fair and official, well done.

As for future ideas, not sure if this would be much of a challenge, but I would love to see more venues in accordance with the themes of the stuff, game, and expansion packs.
i.e. Laundromat with 'Laundry Day Stuff' (and base game items), Daycare with 'Toddler Stuff', Vampire lounge/den with 'Vampires' (of course), Clubhouses with 'Get Together' etc. Or just more base game venues would be great too.
I'm always in need of more unique playable venues that are not overly stuffed with items from multiple packs or "cheats" that make some of the objects difficult to interact with.

@IronicBeauty  I agree, I'd like to do some pack specific builds also. I've been keeping them general just so we don't alienate anyone who does not have all the packs etc but at the same time that doesn't cater for those of us who do. Trouble is we just simply do not have enough time for the amount of challenges to cover all the options! This is a good thing though as better to be brimming with ideas than the opposite.

@oshizu  yep, those time zones get me too especially seeing as it is already past midday on the 17th here for me. lol
