Time Portal: Odd Things Are Happening With The Portal!

My Sims are in their home, all of a sudden the time portal activates, and sends a Sim to the ''present'' time. The future is set on utopia, but I've seen this happen with a dystopian future as well. Is there a reason this happens, or is it simple Sims weirdness?

I'm not sure if you'll see this or not, but I have had the same thing happen. What I do is deactivate the portal and either sell it or put it in the family inventory. Then nobody can use it.
