PULASKIS RULE! A Life States Dynasty

Prologue

Cranberry and Steve Pulaski got married with the full disapproval of their family and friends.

"Aren't you worried that the children will be" (lowered voice, raised eyebrows) "blue?"
"Pulaski!" giggle, "What kind of name is that?"

"It's not going to last, son. She's a fairy. She'll flit away as soon as she finds someone more interesting."
"But he's a human! They're so dull, darling. Why don't you go spend some time in Sylvan Glade and think about it?"

Steve and Cranberry were the only ones who attended their wedding, but they didn't care. They resolved to raise as many children from as many different life states as possible, bringing them up to understand and respect each other. Then maybe their grandchildren, at least, would grow up in a world where differences didn't matter.

Week One

Steve got a job as a scientist, and he and Cranberry both started with the Soulmate aspiration. For several days they dated and flirted and kissed and canoodled until finally both of them achieved their lifetime wish.

Steve immediately went off to the Wishing Well to ask for a child. The Well granted his wish, sending him a little genius who wanted to be a Social Butterfly.

They named her Anne.

Although Cranberry was pregnant, probably with twins, she decided to take advantage of her free time while Anne was at school and adopted a baby boy, Brian. She and Steve cooed over him and cuddled him, and soon he became a fussy toddler.

Brian was quite clear about his dislike of the high chair.

Even before the twins, Clematis and Dandelion, were born, Steve and Cranberry were tired of living in an apartment. Their neighbors had repeatedly awakened them with their noise in the middle of the night, they had mice, and the landlord was always in a bad mood. When Anne informed their neighbor that she was a witch and intended to put a curse on them, the Pulaskis knew it was time to move.

But first they had to make one more addition to the family. As a witch, Anne was going to need a familiar. Since she was still a child, they decided to get a kitten rather than a full-grown cat.

Barley was a clever, territorial, and gluttonous Cornish Rex.

Once the decision to move was made, everyone, including Barley, got a good night's sleep. Whether the neighbors relented out of sympathy for a family with a toddler, two babies, and a kitten, or whether they feared little Anne's curse, no one knew. As soon as Cranberry paid their rent for the week, they left San Myshuno.

Am I the only one who thought for a second that Pippin's Izumi was visiting when Anne adopted her familiar?

You mentioned that Cranberry was probably pregnant with twins. Because of the lot trait?

@sdhoey, if you've ever played in the TLC unit, you'll know that the Rasoyas certainly deserve to be cursed.

@PeregrineTook, Probably too soon for a favorite, but that's okay.

@oshizu, yes, I gave the apartment the On Ley Line lot trait. And I must admit that with a child, 3 toddlers now, and a kitten, the chaos level is pretty high.

Psh, Izumi's way more beautiful than that!
And yes, I'm unfairly sticking with my favoritism of Anne  :=)

I haven't played that unit yet. But I can only imagine, I've had some pretty loud neighbors in other units before.

Week Two

The week got off to a rocky start for Steve with the failure of his synthetic food serum.

He relieved his feelings by indulging in language that Cranberry didn't allow around the children. Luckily he was at work, where he could do a longshoreman proud if he wanted.

The first major event of the week was that Barley became an adult cat, with his own Simstagram account.

The twins Clematis and Dandelion, more commonly known as Clem and Dan, were the next to age up.

As fairies, both of them loved being "flown" on Daddy's back.

But they practiced walking, too. "If it's good enough for your mother, it's good enough for you," Cranberry told them.

Not everyone was pleased that the twins had become toddlers. Brian soon discovered that they were more fond of hugging than he was.

Barley, on the other hand, was quite willing to accept the twins' homage, either as pats...

...or as hugs.

 [ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Hugging was one way that Anne managed to become a Social Butterfly. She hugged everyone, including Barley...

...Brian...

...and her father.

But at soon as she was finished with her aspiration, Anne declared that her hugging days were over, and she was now going to become a pirate.

Brian matured early, primarily so that he could move out of the bedroom he shared with the toddlers.

As a perfectionist hoping to become an Artistic Prodigy, he disapproved of the general level of chaos in the household.

With the children at school and the toddlers in bed, Steve had time to indulge in a little music before going to work. Barley listened, fascinated.

And when Steve went to work, and Cranberry took a much-needed nap, Barley assumed his favorite nap-time position on top of the refrigerator.
[Watcher's Note: I have a cat who actually lies like this sometimes -- not on top of the refrigerator, but on the edges of chairs and the couch.)

How delightful that the twins inherited Cranberry's skintone with Steve's blond hair!
I loved Brian's adorable look of dismay at being hugged by one of the twins (though he doesn't seem to mind at all being hugged by Anne).

I'm thinking cats may be the best choice for this challenge, since they clean themselves!

And Steve is probably relieved that he has a job to run off to when things get too hectic at home.
