Seriously too long to post but many bug fixes and great free content for all players: photography, new roof shapes and manipulation points, sizing down objects, monitor and select safe households from culling... go check out the details for yourself but remember to make a back up of your saves and to remove all mods and cc and delete the localthumbcache.package file before playing. This patch is huge and reports of broken mods and cc are already coming in.

Where do I find this Localthumbcache.package file? I can only see something called Onlinethumbnaailcache. :/

The weird thing is, I don't have one of those folders either.  I never thought too much of it until I heard about deleting that folder. So I just looked again to be sure and nope, don't have one.  Obviously, it doesn't interfere with the game, so I really haven't worried about it.  Just wanted to throw my two cents worth in, so if anyone else doesn't have one, not to worry.

localthumbcache.package file will appear directly in the Sims 4 folder after each play session.

As seen in the photo below: Click image for larger view.

I delete mine after every time I play when I am using mods, not so often if I am playing vanilla but still delete it regularly.

Everyone's game will produce one so make sure you are looking for a file (not a folder) when you open the Sims 4 folder. It is something to keep in mind as deleting the cache will many times clear out minor bugs and actually not so minor bugs, that are caused by cache issues.

If you use mods it is a must to delete in between adding new mods or if you remove some etc. Basically any time you change anything in your mods folder (cc included) you should be deleting this file.

This is a file you should probably worry about a little @Saltypaws  :)  , it's important for keeping your game running well when using mods or cc in particular. Remember it is a file, not a folder. You should not be deleting any folder named 'cache'

The Onlinethumbnaailcache is a folder. Do not delete this folder. You can delete the thumbnails that from time to time build up in this folder. This occurs when you use the online Gallery.

As seen in this image. Click image for larger view.

Path to the cache package file = Documents>EA>The Sims 4.

I just patched up, did a quick test of everything and that file you mentioned is showing up now but it has a winrar icon instead of the white  square icon. (The size is nearly 8000 kb!) Still safe to delete? I never delete this file btw, didn't know that was a thing).  I use mods and CC and I removed my mods folder before patching and put it back afterwards, everything works fine.

It shouldn't have a winrar icon. It should be the blank square icon like in this photo: Click image for larger view.

How long has it been since you've created a new Sims 4 folder. Basically done a Sims 4 Factory Reset? That might help with the winrar icon issue.

I never do those things, I see no reason to do a factory reset when I only have minor bugs in my game such as the Sims popping up out of bed when I load the game. I didn't know I had to create a new Sims 4 folder, why do I need to do that? Btw, is that file safe to delete or not, just wondering?

Yes, it's fine to delete the localthumbcache.package file. The reasons to do a Sims 4 factory reset every now and again if you're having issues with bugs and crashing, etc. is to have a fresh folder to play the game in.

Thanks Mrs Flynn and Playalot.  :) My game doesn't crash and I've never had any major bugs just little ones like that, I do get  slight lag but only with large families and big houses. I'll do a factory reset if I feel the need, but for now I'll just delete that file, thanks.  :)

Mine has the S4PE icon lol since I made it the default for opening .package files, so, maybe that's the situation that happened above? I try to delete the cache file as often as I remember. Like Play says, it helps with sometimes even the smallest thing. And, then others, it helps stop me from throwing my laptop against the wall lol

Has anyone else been noticing new bugs since the recent patch?

I've made a new Saves folder with no cc (I don't use script mods) to test how the game is working because I can't hire a caterer by clicking on the stove or fridge.
In my new game as well, I cannot hire a caterer at all, though I can hire a massage therapist, mixologist, the various musicians, the nanny, well every other NPC one can hire.

I've tried moving to various lots and even buying an extra stove, but no option for hiring a caterer pops up.
Would this a patch-related issue or is it my (new) game?

P.S. My sim without the Insane trait can now "Flirt with self" in mirrors (which is an Insane social).

"Flirt with self" seems to be a common bug.
The worst bug I've heard of is the one that wipes out the relationships in a household, but that one can be avoided. Just make sure you click on "play" before going to build mode. And if this does happen to you, exit without saving.

On the positive side, many things to be excited about. You don't have to have Get to Work to have the photography skill now. Abductions are more frequent. And being inspired should boost baking. They also have fixed the clock so that it doesn't rush ahead in fast mode and then drop back when you return to normal.

I agree with you, MarianT, that this latest patch aims to resolve a large number of long-standing issues.
More frequent alien abductions and faster Baking skilling in Inspired mood are great! So is the Connections reward working as it used to (granting the lower-level rewards).
(My teens still leave their homework out after they're done, though. )

Thank you for the warning about the relationships bug and how to avoid its impact on an ongoing save!

The relationship bug is being worked on so hopefully there will be a proper fix before long. There are quite a few bugs etc but if you play without mods and cc and only very slowly introduce them back in, testing each time to find any broken ones, you should be fine.
