Hello, just a quick update to what is happening. I am working on making my pictures the correct size so that everyone will no longer have the loading issue. I apologize for this taking so long to figure out and by the next update it will hopefully be fixed. I wanted to get an update out today but it looks like that will not happen because something happened with my Origin and Sims 4 and I cannot find my screenshots or saves. This is why I should wait until my tech friend can help instead of thinking I can fix it on my own. I'm good at computers, but apparently not with this kind of stuff. So fingers crossed that I can recover at least the save file. If I can and I lose my screenshots that means I'll have to time jump it because at this point in my game Sabrina and Aria are aged up already. Absolute worse case scenario is that my save is completely gone and I'm left with, once again, having to restart... I hope that doesn't happen but wanted to let you guys know what was happening!

Scruff was sick.

It was the worst feeling, it was like one of the family members was sick. He was family even if we had him for a short period of time. He was barely eating and when he was eating he would throw it up again. Thankfully he was able to keep water down so he wasn't dehydrating. We took him to the vet for some testing and we were still awaiting the results. I held it together though for the girls because they were taking it hard.

"He'll be fine." I told them.

"What if he's not?"

"He will be."

The first night he was sick we spent the entire night with him. We all slept on the living room floor with him in our sleeping bags.

...

"Mom said he'll be fine. So, things will work out right?" Aria asked Lily.

"Yes sweetie, things will be fine."

"Will we know tomorrow?"

"Yes, mom is going in the morning to pick him up and find out the results."

"Okay."

"Now try to get some sleep."

A Few Weeks Later

It turned out that Scruff got into something he shouldn't have and it caused a major stomach issue. After a week of giving him some medication he turned into his old self again.

"You're such a good boy Scruff!" I told him as I walked into the kitchen.

You see, this was a special day. Why you ask? Because it was my birthday. I was now going to be an adult. It seemed like being a young adult was forever, I never thought that I would become an adult. It seemed like I have been alive longer then I have because I've been through a lot. I lost Johnny and became a single mother to Lily and then soon after that I found out that I was expecting Aria. I became a single mother to two beautiful little girls and turned my grief into drive to raise them the best that I could.

One of those beautiful little girls was about to be not so little as well. A few days after my birthday came Aria's birthday. Time to have another teenager in the house, ready or not.

...

"I told you not to touch my stuff Aria!" Lily screamed.

"All I did was borrow a shirt!" She screamed back.

"MY shirt!"

"I wore it once."

"You didn't even ask!"

"HEY!" I screamed.

They both stopped and looked at me. Lily was standing with a blue shirt in hand and Aria was across from her almost in tears.

"What is going on?!" I asked.

"Aria decided that she was going to go in my closet and take my shirt! Without even asking!"

"I didn't think it would be that big of a deal!"

"IT WAS!"

"Lily, it's a shirt. Is the shirt ruined?" I asked.

"Well no, but it's the principal of it!"

"Aria, next time please ask your sister before taking her things. Lily, next time something like this happens please come to me and we will take care of it."

"Fine." Lily grumbled.

"I will not have screaming in my house, got it?"

"Got it." They both said.

After that they found a way to live in the same house peacefully.

So as you can see my save file and screenshots are saved! I also converted the screenshots so they hopefully are the correct size and will load correctly! If not let me know and I will look at it again! =D

Ally, your new photos load fine for me. Thank you for doing that. It still takes a long time, because of all the older photos, though. Rather than expect you to go back and change every photo, I think all of your readers should post a nice comment, so we can bump this thread to a second page, and then smooth sailing! ;)

I actually have a serious question, though: what's with your aging? I was working on a family I planned to pen a story about, but found it frustrating that my young adult sims seem to breeze through adulthood into elderhood while still being parents. But you have Sabrina just becoming an adult now. Do you have aging turned off, or do you buy youth potions, or something else? I'm starting a new game file now, and trying to figure out the easiest way to tackle this problem.

I hope when we get to the next page that it solves that issue!

I remember having her aging off for a little so that may be why. However it's driving me nuts how fast Lily and Aria are aging, it seems faster to me in this game then the third one. I almost wish we had the age span sliders again so you could manually set how long you wanted each life span to be. I think the next story I will have the parents start as adults instead of young adults like I normally do

"Don't burn the house down!" Aria snickered.

"Shut up Ari." Lily snapped.

"Girls." I warned.

"I'm not going to burn the house down!"

"Yet."

"MOM!"

"Aria, stop pestering your sister."

"Fine."

"I'm going to take Scruff for a walk, please don't kill each other while I am gone."

Scruff was doing much better since his scare. We were all thankful for that, we would've been lost without our Scruff.

"Come on Scruff, this way."

He barked and trotted along next to me.

"Look at all those birds!"

Across the field there was so many birds, it was like the movie The Birds. The next thing happened so fast, Scruff barked and then yanked all the while getting out of my grasp.

"SCRUFF!"

He shot towards the birds as I ran after him.

"SCRUFF! NO! STOP!"

He leaped and tried to catch a bird but they all flew away in a frenzy. He lost his footing and slipped into a huge pile of mud. I stopped running and sighed.

"Scruff." I groaned.

I picked up his muddy leash and we walked back home. I scolded him to get inside while I started his bath.

...

"So there I was just walking him and the next thing I knew he takes off running and yanks the leash from my hands!"

"Oh no!" Aria laughed.

"So he takes off and leaps in the middle of this group of birds who freak out and fly away before he could catch one of them. He loses his footing and then slides into a huge pile of mud."

"That's our scruff!" Aria laughed.

Lily walked in.

"There's our birthday girl!"

That's right, Lily was about to become a young adult. I don't think I was ready for my smallest child to be an adult.

But, before we knew it...

She became a beautiful young adult before our eyes.

"I'm going out!"

"What? Wait, but we made you a cake..."

"Sorry!"

I looked at her as I looked at Aria who was equally as confused.

"How about we have pancakes for dinner?"

...

Little did I know Lily was up to much bigger things just down the street.

"Hello, my name is Lily, I see you just moved in." She greeted.

"Yeah, yeah this is my first night in the house actually."

"Well, this neighborhood is pretty quiet as you can see, I'm sorry what was your name?"

"Oh! I'm sorry! Lucas, but you can call me Luke."

"Nice to meet you Lucas."

We smiled.

"Listen, would you like to hang out? I know you just came to welcome me to the neighborhood but it's kind of lonely, would you want to just hang out a bit?"

"Sure, I can stay for a while."

That while turned out to be all night. He was pretty cute actually, and had a great sense of humor too. We talked all night about everything and nothing at the same time.

"Look, there's the little dipper." I pointed.

"Oh yeah! There's the big dipper too."

"It's getting late, I should get home." Lily said.

"We should do this again, it was nice to talk to such a beautiful girl." Lucas said.

Lily blushed before turning around and walking away. Maybe it was good that she went out, maybe a new chapter in this story was about to begin...

Okay, update is finally out! Started it a few days ago but my computer randomly restarted and I lost everything that I had typed. I rage quit and took a few days off haha. I hope everyone had a great Christmas! Let me know what you think! =D

"Mom his house burnt down! He has no where else to go!" Lily argued.

"He also doesn't have a job Lily, how do you expect me to feed another mouth? The money we have now is for us to live comfortably on. Sooner or later it will run out though."

"He will get a job mother, and so will I!"

"I never said no Lily, but I will have to think about it."

"It's not like we don't have the room."

"I understand that Lily, but you just met this guy. How well do you know him really?"

"Well enough to know that I may be starting to like him more than a friend!"

"Really?!"

"No mom don't go all gushy on me!"

"My baby isn't a baby anymore!" I said as I hugged her.

"Mother." She groaned.

There were often times that I thought she was still a teenager with all her groaning.

"Fine, I will consider it. But, you have to make sure he is serious about this job idea. I will not be supporting someone who refuses to help."

"Thank you!"

...

A few months had passed, and boy has a lot changed. Lily and Lucas were getting closer and in my opinion it wound't be long until they made things more official. Lucas seemed like a really nice young man, he was roughly around Lily's age and lived down the street. Well, that is until his house caught on fire. I thought long and hard about if letting him move in was a good idea or not. Young adult or not she was still my kid and I barely knew Lucas. We had the room however, and that's where the major change of the past few months came. We moved! We had just enough for a down payment on a new home with more room! The old house felt crowded especially if Lucas was going to move in.

"You're kidding right?"

"No, those are the rules while you are living underneath my home."

"Mother."

"Lily, until I get to know him better or until you guys get married you are not to share a room. That is final."

"Lily it's fine, we aren't even dating. I respect your mothers rules and we will all take this one step at a time." Lucas said, gaining major mom points.

"Fine."

I smiled.

"So Lucas, how was job hunting today?"

"Mom!"

"Lily it's fine, it went well thank you. I applied several different places."

"That's good."

"Can you believe her?! She's being totally unfair!"

"No she isn't Lily." Aria said.

I may or may not have been listening from the hallway.

"She's giving me rules like I'm still a child."

"With that behavior you kind of are..."

"Aria!"

"I'm sorry but which one of us is the teenager?!"

Lily huffed.

"Lily it's not that bad. We all just need time to get to know Lucas. I think it was pretty cool of mom to let him move in to begin with."

"Yeah, I guess."

...

"You did not!"

"I promise you I did."

"You shoved his face in the cake?!"

"And stormed out."

"That's wonderful." Lily laughed.

"I'm sure he didn't have a very good going away party after that, but I was mad that he fired me just before he decided to leave."

"I would've done the same thing." Lily told him.

"Scruff! What are you doing buddy?" Lucas asked, he became best buds with Scruff.

Scruff loved the new house. We were all surprised at how comfortable he seemed to be with the new house. He even had his favorite spots to sleep already! In moms room and then strangely in front of the front steps on the hard concrete path.

The only problem he seemed to have though was finding us. The house was bigger which meant he couldn't just cross the house quickly and spot us. There was now several more rooms to explore and a big backyard with new things for him to play with! Aria was currently training him to go through a tube in the backyard but he was still skeptical about the whole thing. We made sure to give him lots of attention though because he did get lonely a lot.

Did I mention that the new house came with not only one but two new washers and dryers?! Two! I've never owned one washer and dryer let alone two! Goodbye grungy laundry mat and hello doing laundry in the comfort of my own home! I splurged on that room and made it look extra nice because it was my treat to myself. I was one of the very few human beings on this Earth that actually like to do the laundry. What was so wrong about throwing clothes into a machine and then going to do other things? Would people rather hand wash them like in the old days? Not this girl.

Everything seemed to be working out perfectly. New house, bills were paid, still had a comfortable amount of cash, and my girls were doing well...
Who knew one word could change that...
Just one phone call...
One word...

"Hello?"

Plot twist incoming because it just hit me, so I will be "nice" and leave you with this cliffhanger! Also 500 views?! Wow! Thank you guys so much for sticking around through all my stories and being patient while I figure out where I want this one to go! I have plans though so no need to worry! Until next update, how ever long that will be mwahaha. Just kidding, hopefully won't be too long!

Probably going to just be a text post this update!

A Couple Months Later

"Girls? Could you come sit down please?"

Lily and Aria walked downstairs and entered the living room. They sat down on the couches across from me.

"What's up mom?" Lily asked.

I took a deep breath and smiled at them.

"Mom, you're scaring us. What is it?" Aria asked.

"Um, well. Okay. So a few months ago I went to the doctors office for my check up, remember?"

"Yeah, you said it went fine."

"It did, or so I thought. They called back a few days later with the results of the test."

"What did they find?" Lily asked.

I looked at my hands and shook my knee to stop myself from crying.

"Girls, they told me that I have an aggressive form of an illness."

The silence in the room was deafening.

"What?" Aria asked, her voice shaking.

"You... You told us it was fine... You went months ago, have you known for a few months?!" Lily asked.

I looked at both of my girls, "Yes."

Lily looked at me and got up from the couch and walked upstairs without a word.

"Lily!"

SLAM!

...

Aria's POV

I walked into Lily's room and she was sitting on the floor against the wall just staring blankly at the opposite wall. I silently sat down next to her and wiped the tears from my own eyes. I was just a teenager, I wasn't sure how to feel or how to process this. I needed my older sister but I wasn't sure if she was mentally here.

"I was so mean to her." Lily said after what felt like forever.

"You weren't."

"When she was against Lucas moving in, I was so mean."

"Lily, you were expressing your thoughts and she knew that. She doesn't think you were mean at all."

"Did I cause this?" She asked.

"What?! Of course not!"

"I caused her stress."

"Life causes stress, the doctors told her it was nothing that anyone did. It just happened."

"So we lose our mother because of something that just happens?! How is that fair?!"

"It's not."

She nodded and laid her head down on my shoulder, I rested my head against hers and we held hands. We would get through this together.

The next few weeks were spent planning. Planning for the future and planning on what was going to happen once mom did pass away. It was all a lot to process but we were going through it together. We could already spot changes in mom, she was becoming weaker and her memory wasn't always the best. But we had weekly adventures and Sunday movie nights where Lucas made dinner and popcorn. We made sure to make the most of the time we had left, no matter how long or short that time was.

...

Sabrina's POV

I must admit having Lucas here was helpful. He cooked almost every night and cleaned up the house. He was struggling to find a job but he made up for it with working around the house and making sure that I had everything I needed. With all that was happening I was glad that I was getting to know him a little more before I was going to leave. He was incredibly supportive and loving towards Lily, who insisted they were not a couple yet, and he was wonderful with Aria. He helped her a lot with her school work and projects. He made me feel better about not being able to stay around for as long as I wanted too. But those are the cards I was given and I had to hold on to hope, hope that I got to stick around a little longer. Maybe even make it to be an elder, even for a little while.

"Scout it's time to go out!" Lily called from the kitchen.

"Make sure he goes to his favorite place!" I called.

"Of course mom!"

Aria walked in and scuffed.

"What's that about?" I asked.

"I have this stupid math test next week and I'm going to fail it."

"With that attitude you will."

"I just don't get math! How important is it?!"

"Important enough to pass high school."

"Ha. Ha. Mother."

"Look, unfortunately I suck at math. Maybe when Lucas gets home he can help you study."

"Do I have to study?"

"Do you want to pass?"

She groaned and threw herself off the couch and walked upstairs to her room. Teenagers.

I was no where near ready to leave the two of them, but it was coming full swing and all I could do was make the most of it.

Kind of short, but I wanted to get the main thing out of the way so I could start playing and getting pictures and such. I said sickness because I didn't want to cross a line of some sort! Thank you again for 500 views!

"Smells great Lucas!" I said from the couch.

"Thanks!"

Lily and I were watching our weekly movie on the couch while Lucas made mac and cheese.

"Where is Lily again?" Lucas asked.

"Science fair at school, she has a big project!" Lily answered.

"Ah okay, so make her a plate?"

"If you wouldn't mind." I told him.

"Of course."

"So, when you bake the cookies you want to spread them out enough to where they won't bake into each other." I told Lily.

"How long do you bake them for?"

"Depends on the cookie size, smaller cookies around eight minutes, large cookies around ten."

"Got it."

I suddenly got winded and tired.

"Mom?"

"You know, I'm kind of tired. Lucas would you mind making me a plate and put it in the fridge? I'm going to go lay down."

"But mom, the movie.."

"I'm sorry, we will finish it later sweetie."

"Oh, okay."

Lily's POV

"She's getting weaker." I said.

"I know, but it's to be expected."

"I know that!" I snapped.

"Okay, I'm sorry."

"No, I'm sorry. I shouldn't of snapped." I said, my eyes filling up with tears.

"You're under a lot of stress right now, it's hard taking care of someone that's sick especially a parent."

I nodded.

"Come here."

He pulled me into his arms and I allowed myself to break for the first time since she told us the news.

...

Sabrina's POV

"Lucas?"

"Yes?"

"Am I reading the signals wrong, or do you not have feelings for my daughter?"

He turned pink.

"There may be feelings, yes." He whispered getting uncomfortable and nervous.

"Take care of her."

"What?"

"I'm not going to be around much longer, so I need you to take care of my little girl for me."

"Of course I will."

I smiled and he rubbed my shoulder. I smiled and took a deep breath. It was getting more and more real that I was not going to be here very much longer. It was getting tougher to get out of bed each day and when I did my energy was drained quickly. I had more to teach them, things that they'd need to know growing up. But how do you know what they would need to know and when they'd need to know it? There was so many changes going on, not only in their life but the entire world. We were getting robbed of time, but that's what life gave us and we had to live with what had.

"She's stubborn you know, my daughter."

He laughed, "Yeah, I figured that out."

"You have to push to get through to her, she's strong and tough."

"She got that from you."

I smiled.

"I hope so." I said.

Lily's POV

"She's on to us." I said.

"Oh yeah."

"I want to tell her, but we're still getting to know each other. We haven't even made it official yet."

"I know." Lucas said.

I looked at him.

"What are you thinking about?"

"How cute you are."

I blushed.

"You think I'm cute?"

"Of course I do."

He stood up holding something behind his back.

"What do you have?"

"Something for you."

He pulled out a single rose.

"What is this?"

"Your mom told me once that red roses are your favorite."

I smiled.

"They are."

"I hope one day we can become a couple, but for now I will enjoy getting to know everything about you Lily."

My heart took a leap as he pulled me into a hug.

...

I stood with my arms crossed by the patio door watching Aria and mom talk.

"I'm not ready." Aria said.

"I know." Mom told her.

"Do you think dad will be there, you know, waiting?"

"I would like to think so." She told her.

"Yeah."

"I can't wait to tell him all about the little girl he never got to meet." Mom said, brushing the hair from Aria's face.

I smiled.

"And about your sister. She's really something."

"She is." Aria said.

"Can I take these?" Lucas said.

He picked up their dishes for them.

"Thank you Lucas, I think I am going to go take a nap."

Mom kissed Aria's head and walked inside.

"So, you and Lily, eh?"

...

I was in the kitchen making lunch while mom was upstairs folding laundry. She had energy today so I thought it would be good for her to do things instead of just laying around the house. Lucas was in the backyard with Scruff and Aria was somewhere around the house. All of a sudden the fire alarms went off, but I was in the kitchen so where were they coming from?

"HELP!"

"Mom?!"

I dropped everything, Lucas and Aria both came running after me with Scruff in tow as we all ran upstairs. By the time we got there mom was standing in flames in front of the washer.

"MOM!"

"Quick! Go in the shower!" Lucas screamed.

Mom ran into the nearest bathroom while we tackled all the flames.

Thankfully we were able to stop the flames before they spread to the rest of the house. We got the room cleaned up and Lucas worked on getting the washer back up and running.

"Lucas I'm going to check on mom."

He nodded as I headed downstairs.

"Mom?"

I searched almost everywhere until she came out of the bathroom.

"Are you okay?" I asked.

"Yeah, I- Um, yeah just a little winded." She said.

"Mom, maybe you should go sit down."

"No, really... I'm fine.."

She took some labored breaths and then all of a sudden hunched over.

"Mom?"

"I'm fine."

The next thing happened so fast, she took a final breath and then collapsed to her knees.

"MOM!" I screamed.

"LUCAS! ARIA! SOMEONE! HELP ME!"

I fell to my knees and shook her but she wasn't waking up. Lucas and Aria came running downstairs.

"What happened?!" Aria screamed.

"I don't know! She came from the shower and she was fine and then all of a sudden she was just- she just... she just fell and I can't wake her up!" I screamed.

"Mom! Mom please!" I begged.

I looked up at Lucas who was on the phone with the ambulance.

Later That Night

Lucas brought me a cup of tea. I faked a smile and took the cup.

"She took a shower and she was fine." I said, in shock.

"I know." He whispered.

"I was so angry. Angry that she was sick and that she was getting robbed of time. That we were getting robbed of time with her, and now it wasn't the sickness that killed her?! A freaking washer fire is what killed my mother!"

Lucas rubbed my back.

"I need to be alone, can you please go check on Aria and make sure she eats please?"

"Of course."

I was in total shock that I had just lost my mother. It wasn't the fire itself, but the stress from the fire caused her heart to give out. My mother was gone.

Yay, Page 2! Everything loaded super fast!

Too bad about Sabrina, but life goes on. And you wrote it really well. Very tense and emotional.

Just read the whole story this morning. It's great, full of life's infairness and unexpected events, and people strong enough to get through anyway.

Lily's POV

It's been a few months since mom passed away. It's been a rough few months but we were hanging in there. None of us had to worry about getting jobs yet, we still had plenty of money to get by thankfully. I was glad that Lucas had moved in because he has been an amazing person through all this. Aria was struggling a bit through the process of moving on without mom here. I have been trying to help her through it but it's sometimes hard when you yourself are also grieving. I tried keeping my emotions to myself and not let her see me cry, put up the tough front you know? But it was hard. I thought about picking up a hobby, but I wasn't sure what I would do. Painting sounded kind of fun to try and we had an easel upstairs.

"Aria?"

I knocked before walking in her room.

"Can we talk?" I asked.

"Sure." Aria said.

I walked over to her bed and we sat down.

"What's up?" She asked, changing into her normal clothes.

I sighed, how was I going to explain this?

"You see, ever since you were born mom has obviously been your caregiver. Now that she's no longer here someone has to be in order for you to continue with school."

"What are you saying? That I have to be adopted?"

"Oh no! No! I will be stepping up and adopting you as my... I don't know what it would be called because you aren't my child. Anyway, pretty much I would be your guardian."

"Oh okay, what needs to happen for that to happen?"

"We would just have to sign some papers."

She nodded.

"You're going to be a young adult soon, so it will only be for a little while."

"Okay."

...

"I'm tired."

"I know you are." Lucas said.

"No, I mean really tired. Physically, mentally, and emotionally exhausted."

"I'm right here babe, you don't have to do this alone."

I smiled.

"I see the smile." He said brushing my cheek softly.

"I told Aria about the whole caregiver thing."

"Yeah? How did she handle it?"

"She took it okay, she's still struggling with everything but I think she will be okay."

"She will be, she has you after all."

I smiled again.

"Stop that, it's contagious." He teased.

I playfully pushed him away.

Did I forget to mention that Lucas asked me to be his girlfriend? It was really sweet. Aria had gone to bed for the night and I was about to go to bed myself when I walked downstairs to do the final check of the house. I went to lock up the house when I saw Lucas sitting on the living room floor with a makeshift picnic waiting. He had planned this whole thing out too, and apparently had been for a while. We ended up eating sandwiches with chips and watching a movie. Right before we ended he pulled out twelve roses and asked me to be his girlfriend and I said yes. It was unbelievable. Mom would have loved it but I know she was creeping and watching as it happened. Aria and I had this inside joke about mom being a creeper and stalking us. She would have hated that theory so much.

A Few Weeks Later

"Good morning." Lucas said.

"Morning." I said.

Aria walked downstairs.

"Ready for school?"

"Not really."

"Why is that?" I asked.

"We have this test in English and I forgot to study for it."

"Ah, I've done that so many times. Just do your best on it and remember to write the next test down."

She munched on her toast and nodded.

"Well, the bus will be here shortly so hurry up and eat."

"I may be going over to Toby's house after school."

"Who is Toby?"

"Just a friend from English."

"Put his phone number on the fridge before you leave." I told her.

"Okay."

She wrote down his number and headed out of the door. I looked at Lucas.

"Toby?" I wondered.

"Possible boyfriend?"

"She hasn't mentioned him."

"Would you have mentioned me?"

"Touche."

...

"So what is the movie suppose to be about?"

"They get kidnapped by this crazy guy who used to be in the military." Lucas said.

"Why?"

"They stole something of his and he is trying to get revenge."

"Ah okay."

Lucas smiled and started to massage my back while we watched this terror movie.

After the movie was finished Aria was home from school and Lucas went to work on the loads of laundry that had been piling up.

"I have a project to work on and I don't want to do it."

"You have too, and do it correctly." I told her.

She groaned and got up.

The next thing I heard was Lucas screaming. I rushed upstairs only to feel like everything was in slow motion and that the universe was playing some sick joke on me. Aria was already in the room and panicking as she tried to work the extinguisher.

"LUCAS!" I screamed.

I went into shock as I watched him try to get the flames off of him. He ran past me and ran into the shower. I barely remember helping put the fire out with Aria before running downstairs to make sure Lucas was okay.

"I'm fine!" Lucas said.

"You were on fire!"

"I am fine babe."

"Don't say that! Mom died from the same exact fire!" I screamed.

He pulled me in his arms and held me there for the longest time. I made him promise me to relax for the rest of the day. He also promised he would make sure to study how to fix the fire issue with the washing machines. I wanted to just get rid of them but he thought I was over reacting. So the next couple days he bought every book he could find on mechanical things.

Life was throwing everything in our direction. The next step? Young adulthood for Aria, whelp.

Nice long post for my awesome readers! Was easy to write! Hope you enjoy!
