Simon's POV

"We should go help her." I told Sarah.

"She enjoys keeping busy, it helps her keep her mind off of things." She said.

"That's true."

I looked out the window and watched Aunt Aria unpin clothes from the line and put them away. She was putting on a brave face for us but I know it was hard to lose her sister and brother-in-law so close together.

"Our birthdays are coming up." I told Sarah.

"I know."

"What are we going to do?" I asked.

"About?"

"Are we staying here or moving out?"

She sighed.

"I kind of want to move out. Get a new and fresh start on things." She told me.

"I feel the same, I mean I will miss this house but I think it may be time for a change."

"Now the question is, do we move out separately?"

"No," I said immediately, "I want you here with me."

She hugged me tightly.

Sarah's POV

"I overheard your conversation with Simon earlier." Aunt Aria said.

"About what?" I asked.

"Moving out."

I immediately felt guilty.

"It was just an idea, we don't have too though. We would love to stay here with you."

"I'm kicking you out."

"What?!"

"After your birthday I am evicting you. You need to be out of the house shortly after."

"Aun-"

"No. You guys deserve to be happy and of course I am happy for you. It's time for a new chapter in your lives and I will be right there with you for as long as I have."

"But-"

"Nope, and if you need help finding a place you will let me know."

I started tearing up. It all became real right then and there as she gave us her blessing to move. Mom and dad were gone and it wouldn't be long until she was gone as well. We were all going to be young adults soon and it was our turn to figure out how life worked.

"Are you sure?" I asked.

"Of course."

...

"Lucy!!" I scolded.

She had yet to come back inside from going potty and I went to check on her and she was digging a hole in the front yard and she was covered in mud.

"What did you do!" I asked.

She gave me a little bark and wagged her tail.

"Come on, it's time for a bath."

I picked her up and brought her into the house.

I dried Lucy off and let her free, on my way out of the bathroom I wandered to mom and dad's room. It was empty. A few days after they passed we packed everything and donated a lot of it. Aunt Aria couldn't handle the room being the same and expecting them to walk out at any moment.

"I miss you mom and dad." I whispered.

I stood there for a while and just thought about everything and nothing at all.

A month had passed and it was our birthday. Aunt Aria had baked Simon and I both chocolate cakes and Jasper a vanilla cake. We all stood around the island with our birthday cakes in front of us with the candles already burning. We looked around at each other and took a deep breath, and we were all wishing mom and dad were here with us at this moment.

"Are we ready for this?" I asked.

"Not one bit." Simon said.

I grabbed Simon's hand while he held Jasper's hand. Aunt Aria watched from the side of the counter and smiled as we took another deep breath before we finally closed our eyes and blew out the candles. Just like that we were young adults and it only took a second. Time for a new chapter, in a new house, with new responsibilities.

"Are you sure that we can do this?" I asked Aunt Aria.

"I am absolutely positive."

"Then, we should get started." Simon said.

That night we all sat down and searched for what would become our first home. We wanted something small to start off with because we have been in a huge house for a while and we really didn't need a huge house for three people. Once children came into the picture then we would think about moving but that was a little ways away. I wasn't even sure that I wanted children yet and I think I would be fine with just being an aunt but we would see.

We ended up choosing a small two bedroom house in the same neighborhood so that Aunt Aria could come and visit if she wanted too. It was actually a cute little house and I grew more and more excited to move in. We would have to get jobs though because it was expensive to buy a home. With the three of us working though it shouldn't be too bad and we should be able to afford everything. We decided that Lucy would stay with Aunt Aria so that she wouldn't be too alone and lonely and I think she liked that idea. We might decide to get our own animal once we were in the house but we haven't really talked about it much.

When the time came to start packing up our rooms it was so surreal. We spent our entire lives in this house and in these rooms and we were packing up our lives into boxes. I worried that the house would feel even more empty once we were gone but she told us not to worry about her. We agreed that every Sunday we would call each other and catch up on what is going on.

"Are you almost done? Jasper is loading the last of our boxes now." Simon said.

"Yeah." I whispered as I taped shut the last of my box.

"Are you okay?" He asked kneeling down by me.

"It's just hard to grasp all of this happening, but I am excited to see how things are going to go."

"I know, but you have me and I will be right there with you."

"Forever?"

"And ever."

He hugged me.

He picked up my last box and we headed downstairs where Aunt Aria stood in tears. I hugged her as Simon went to load the car up.

"Call when you get there." She said.

"Of course."

She let go of me and held onto my hands for a moment before Simon and Jasper came back inside. I decided to go to the car while they said their goodbyes because if I hadn't then I probably would drown in a puddle of tears. Jasper and Simon came back outside and got into the car a moment later. Simon looked back from the drivers seat at me and gave me a smile. I wiped some tears away and nodded as he pulled out of the driveway and we headed to our new home.

Life has it's ups and it's downs but in my eyes it was pretty close to perfect.
