"We're home!"
"Welcome home!"
Sarah and Simon both let their book bags fall to the ground.
"Wait a minute, do you have homework?" I asked.
"Moooom." Sarah groaned.
"Can't we just watch some TV first?!" Simon whined.
"You know the rules, homework first and then TV."
They both groaned and picked their backpacks back up and headed upstairs.
"Love you." I called after them.
"I don't feel well." Simon whined when he came downstairs the next morning.
The first thing I did was feel his forehead.
"Oh my, you're burning up!"
Sarah came down with her backpack and I looked at the time, the bus would be here in about ten minutes.
"I'm sorry Simon, I think it's best you stay home today." I said brushing the hair from his face.
"Okay." He said.
I knew he didn't feel well when he didn't fight to go to school. He had really started to enjoy school even though the bullies were still at large.
"Go lay back down and I will make you some soup."
He nodded while he walked back upstairs, Tiger and Tony following behind him.
...
"We're home." I said carrying Tux back into the house.
"Did the vet say why he was drooling the green stuff and puking?" Aria asked.
"Stomach virus."
"Ah okay."
I released Tux and he sprinted upstairs scared that if he stayed downstairs much longer that I would take him back to the vet.
"Where are the kids?" I asked.
"Upstairs, they did their homework and now I think they are drawing again."
"Those walls are going to be full of their drawings, I can't wait."
Aria has now published four books, and people around town were starting to recognize. She was getting letters in the mail stating that they loved her books and couldn't wait to read whatever she wrote next! I was so proud of her and I could tell that she was proud of herself.
"Sarah! Come in! Time for dinner!"
"Okay mom!"
She was outside playing on the monkey bars that we had in the backyard. We still needed to get rid of Scruff's play stuff but for now it would stay. Who knows, we may end up with another dog at some point.
"MOM!!!" Simon screamed.
I dropped what I was doing and ran outside.
"Simon?!"
He was standing by the yard and he had his mouth covered with his hands and he was crying.
"What is it?!"
It was only then when he pointed that I realized what was going on.
"Tiger." I whispered.
I walked over to Simon and pulled him in my arms as he cried. The others heard us and came outside only to discover what had happened. We lost our Tiger, and we knew it was coming but we wouldn't ever be ready.
...
"Can we get another cat?" Sarah asked.
She was taking Tiger's death pretty hard because they were both buddies.
"I don't know honey."
"What about a dog?" Simon asked.
"We will talk about getting another animal, but we do have two others." Lucas told them.
We finished eating and Lucas and I worked on getting the dishes washed.
"Simon, you still have chores to do." Lucas told him.
"I know." He groaned.
"Mama, can I use your favorite pen for my homework?" Sarah asked.
"As long as it gets back to me, yes." I told her.
She pranced upstairs to work on some extra credit.
"Another cat or dog huh?" Lucas said once we were alone again.
"I don't know if we can handle it." I told him.
"Well, not to be horribly morbid but Tux won't be with us too much longer here soon."
I sighed.
"Yeah, I guess."
"It's something to think about, it may be fun to have another dog."
I smiled and he gave me a small kiss before continuing drying the dishes that I passed him.
RIP Tiger </3 I really hate when animals die in real life, but it's just as heart breaking here too. Sorry it's been a little while! Got a little busy!
