Gypsy Wagon won't place on community lots
« on: August 12, 2017, 02:49:31 AM »
Hi there, apologies if you're seeing this again, I think I posted it on the wrong board and so I've deleted my old post.

I'm having an issue where every time I try and place the Gypsy Wagon from my Community objects in edit town mode, it stays red instead of green (like it's out of bounds) and won't place down. The squares that indicate space required do not show up.  So far I have tried:

  • Copying the Gypsy park from Moonlight Falls and placing that in another town - this didn't work, the wagon disappeared once I placed the lot and entered Build/Buy in Edit town
  • Creating a new community lot, set to 'Small Park' and 'Supernatural hangout', and placing the wagon there
  • Placing the wagon onto an existing lot where there is clear space
  • Adding a car port (just in case that was the issue) and placing the wagon on top of that
  • Leveling the lot out completely to make sure the space is flat
  • Using moveobjects on - it still stayed red
  • Disabling all CC

Am I missing something really obvious here? I'm still able to place the Fairy Arboretum and other objects from the Supernatural collection. Any help would be appreciated!

I was able to troubleshoot the problem, place the gypsy wagon and view it in Build/Buy mode.

This is what I did to get the lot and wagon to place.

I saved the community lot from Moonlight Falls to the Community lot library. As it's not in the community lot library by default.

When placing it I selected a 30x30 lot size to place it on, made it a community lot with lot type of Small Park.

The other thing I've tried and it worked was I made a lot a community lot with lot type Small Park, and then placed the wagon from community objects onto the lot while on the lot.

Sounds like you've tried both these methods?

If so, try these troubleshooting tips:

1. Clear the game cache.

Delete Game Cache Files

2. Move the mods folder to the desktop and try placing/creating the lot again.

3. If that doesn't work, try a test game in a new Sims 3 folder. This is to make sure it's not something corrupt with the game itself or the Sims 3 folder.

To do that, Try a Sims 3 factory reset and create a new game.

In Sunset Valley, I change the two beach lots without a lot type to Beach prior to playing.

When I get enough money to do so, I purchase one of the beach lots (normally the one behind the Wolff house), go into build mode, go to community objects, locate the wagon, and place it, usually along with fairy arboretum and Vault of Antiquity. then I return to my game, which sells the lot, and I play on.

I've never had any problems doing that, and can interact fully with the wagon, arboretum and vault afterwards.

I always placed it on the Elixir Store lot through Edit Town. On one of the parking spaces. It doesn't appear on the main map, but if you actually go to the lot, then click on the wagon, it works.

But I play with no mods, and no CC.
