My son randomly got taken away by child services for "neglect" ?

I adopted a son as a baby and had him until he was a child, and took very good care of him. his mood was always happy and always "Green" and his needs/motives were always taken care of. then one day i left to go to work and my son was at home alone and the notification popped up that he was being whisked away because of neglect. is this because i left him home alone with no adult? it was only me and him living in a house and i left for work.

No this would have been because of a bug with babies, their needs stay 'green' usually after leaving the lot, but in game terms their needs are depleting. When playing a baby you have to feed, cuddle and change diaper even when the needs are green and the baby is crying.

If you stay on the lot 24/7 this glitch doesn't usually occur. It's fine to leave the lot, go to work etc but just have to remember to interact with the baby a lot. Normally you get a message saying that 'baby's name is very hungry and will be removed if you don't feed him/her soon'.

@Playalot, I'm not sure that's the situation @dewmongo is describing. It sounds as if the baby had aged up to child. Since babies and toddlers go to daycare when the last adult leaves the lot, it's possible that the child was taken because there was no adult on the lot. To avoid that, you have to hire a nanny.

Opps thanks @MarianT  , missed the 'child' bit!  But children can stay on a lot by themselves so that can't be the reason. I guess that's why I misread the 'child' portion of the question.

In fact the whole question doesn't make sense as children would be playable if it was a base game career and if it was an active career the child would just have the usual 'away' actions available.

Hi everyone, To anyone still having this problem in 2018! i have found a soultion kind of. What happened to me seemed to be some kind of bug which some of you have mentioned i searched the internet for answers but none of them really worked for me. My child kept getting taken away everytime i played the family he would get taken away, i didn't save and replayed about 3 times but every morning he would still get taken even though his needs was fine and i had zero warnings about hunger or anything! so i opened the cheat bar ( ctrl+shift+c ) and entered ( cas.fulleditmode ) then aged him up to a teen and he hasn't been taken, this seemed like the best option rather than him getting taken i preferred to just skip some of his childhood.
I choose to do this because i remembered a couple months back i had my game on the wrong setting where my families where growing older even when i wasn't playing them which i didn't  want , when i realised i changed the setting went back in with the same cheat and returned all families to the correct ages, some how i think this caused some kind of bug with that child in particular.
