Problem Changing Trait

My sim's traits are Family Oriented, Ambitious, Loves the Outdoors, Artistic, and Bookworm. I'm trying to change Bookworm into Angler. First off, I don't want to use cheats as that can really mess up their purchased ltr. I've tried using the Mid-Life Crisis and the brain enhancing machine, but Angler is not available, not even grayed out. It's just not there. It works for her husband, but not her. I cleared my caches...again, and I will go back into my game to see if that solved it. I just thought I'd check hear to see if anyone has any ideas. If somehow I can't change it, so be it, but fishing goes so much faster with that trait.

Is the trait there if you buy the LTR faction influence to get the additional traits through University LTRs? Or is it just if you try to switch some traits out through Mid-Life Crisis?

Another option could be going into edit town, splitting her from the household, then moving her back in would do a reset to her alone. (Plus add a nice 16,500 to household funds.) If that happens, is Angler still missing?

Other than that, I don't know what else to do. These did work for me, when I had a sim who had a trait that disappeared upon aging up, and the game wouldn't let me use Mid-Life Crisis to give him a 5th trait at first.

I'm just trying to swap. She has abandoned writing and taken up fishing. I tried switching out traits through both the mid-life crisis and the brain enhancing machine. Angler just isn't in the list of options...not grayed-out like when there is a conflict or the sim already has the trait. My fairy sims are taking over Riverview in an unofficial Domination dynasty. I cleared caches and restarted my computer to no avail. They have over 2million in funds so money is no incentive. Her fishing is going along as well as her husband's who is an Angler so it's no big deal. She also has in excess of 400,000 happiness points. I might buy some rebel points and see if it's available as an extra trait more out of curiosity than necessity Thanks for the ideas. Well, that didn't work either. Neither did moving her to the clipboard and back. She reached the top of the fishing career anyway. It's going to remain a mystery.
