Thanks. Maybe someday I'll find images I need there. This can help us all in all sorts of ways. If ever selected to use an image or two from a poster, I'll be sure to ask permission first.

That sure is a nice thing to do Carl. So I can asume that the images in fact 'do belong' to the person who uploaded it? Like in Esthers case, it would be a real pain if she just have made that perfect shot and someone is going to use it without her permission AND without her being able to do something about it.

If I may ask, how many GB or TB does the harddrive contains, if that question is relevant?
If it wasn't to late now probably, I would have adviced you to use a Solid State Drive. I have one as my C-drive and it really is a relieve.

I think they belong to the author and the community, but I shy away from leaning either way. There is an uncommon problem that can cause a big issue -- someone deleting their entire album. They'd be making entire threads seem out of whack should the author decide to strip all the pics out. I think someone who posts on our forum, gets disgruntled and out of anger nukes everything they've done just to mess us up might find it a little frustrating trying to nuke their account. It'll take admin approval to remove everything from the gallery. I hope it's something we never need to get into, but that method will keep someone from causing some anarchy around here before Admins can react.

We've a Terabyte drive, and with the gallery automatically resizing images to reduce space, we can hold tens of thousands of images comfortably.

So Carl (Or whoever can answer), if a picture that we have posted on the forum is deleted from our album, it will dissapear from the forum? Like how Photobucket works? Thanks! :)

Yes, because the Forum is rendering a direct image link from the Gallery.

Aha! Well, that can be a problem indeed.
But maybe we can work around this by letting the program create a sort of tumbnail to the place on the forum? I asume it is user friendly like that. Otherwise Carl is adapting to his software himself which is entirely the other way around as it should be.

I don't think we'll have problems.  Part of the reason Carl got this set up for us is so that we don't have to use thumbnails on the Forum, which is what happens when the in-house image service is used (the "Add image to post" link).  It's preferred that everyone use full size images, if possible.  It's really not much different from Photobucket, except that it's private for our members.  There were issues with members' Photobucket accounts getting full and such, so now everyone who is a member can use this private Gallery for Sims 3 photos that are posted here.

I love the Gallery, but I'm just wonding why thumbnails must be eradicated? :)

It's nothing set in stone.  We just prefer to see full size images because they are much easier to see and don't require that extra click to expand them.  Our veteran members probably don't mind thumbnails, but there are new people coming every day and we also have to do as much as we can to make them want to return and hang out with us.  Full size images are more pleasing to the eye when someone visits for the first time.  That's our theory, anyway.  :)

Pam's right, it's prettier. Another stance is that right now we have a growing user base and must keep in mind that they desire to upload more. Shortly, having a thumbnail picture extracted adds 30% more size to each shot, as that must also be processed for every single shot on the gallery. Instead, I'd rather have one standard which is also the standard used on the guide for a wide shot. 660 pixels is relatively small.

In this case, the disk space usage is more important than the bandwidth consumed. I know this is a thread that has been inactive a bit but gallery applications keep coming and I wanted to provide my input on the matter.

I really appreciate the Gallery (and the rest of the Forum, of course)

Hit upload file, browse and find the pic you want, click it and it will upload into the folder you selected!

I had nothing else to do so I made a picture guide to uploading a picture.  ;D (Mainly while I wait for a game to install, not a Sims one something else)  ;)

I hope that's clear enough.  :D Yes I know it wasn't necessary but it may be easier than words. Like they say, a picture tells a thousand words.  :)
