Just put Gabriella's Wedding Photos on my Dynasty Thread using this and it seems quite easy, but sometimes it keeps logging me out? Is that just me?

It might be.  I'm not having any trouble with being logged out.

Thank you I have just been having a play and I have worked out how to post pictures. It is easier then photobucket no resizing of pictures.

Yes, Joria, that's correct.  It's not much different from how you used Photobucket, but I think it's more user friendly.  The difference is that the images will be on our server, not Photobucket's server.  This gives us much more control over the whole thing, which is good for our members and good for the Forum overall.

Thank you, Pam.  I try to be a pretty conscientious forum member but I'm concerned because I tend to use a LOT of photos, particularly in my dynasty, (and I have a few legacy ideas I want to do), and don't want to overload the usage.  I pretty quickly went through the photobucket amount allowed with over 400 screenies, and that was with me frequently removing them as you know.  (messed up the forum that way)  I hate to suggest limiting our usage, but might it not be a good idea?  There are an awful lot of us doing the dynasty/legacy/story thing not to mention the showboat thread.  I can see where this could get pretty expensive if more storage, or whatever it is, has to be bought to keep our shots there.

If I remove a picture from my pc that is posted on the forum via the thumbnails, the pictures are still there.  (tested it this morning)
I do this to keep my pc from slowing down because of being cluttered with too many photos.  Would this still be the case with Coppermine?  (hmmm, I seem to remember using this when I had a business website.  It was pretty cool and easy to use.)

I'm not too concerned with setting a hard limit on how many pictures you can have. That's because the situation that got me to begin offering this service was people having trouble with the free options out there restricting their usage. If you are writing a dynasty and it takes a few hundred pictures to accomplish that alone, I consider that to be a fair use of disk space.

We have a terabyte drive on the server, so we might as well use it. On my end, I plan to be getting a new PC and storage for backing this up will not be too big of a burden.

Bless you, Carl!  Thanks for relieving my mind and I WILL be careful of my usage.

EDIT:  Ok, it shows I'm a member but after I upload my file and go to the button that says, "continue", it gives me an error message saying I don't have permission to go there.  If I click, or double click on my upload, I get a drop down box but I am unable to view my picture in the larger size.

I see your images there. Pam got this bug but found that when she returned to her gallery they were all where they were supposed to be. Are you sure that's not the case here?

EDIT: I fixed the issue. It is a security "Feature".  Basically I had the gallery's setup as being http://carls-sims-3-forum.com/gallery/ so when you went in through the link with the www prefix in place, it counted as a separate domain. This shouldn't happen any more unless people visit without the www prefix.

Not sure what I am doing wrong, but I followed instructions on how to post the pics from The Gallery and all I get is a red X.  I can usually follow directions pretty well and I caught on to photobucket with copying and pasting the IMG codes, but for reason, I can't get a picture in the post.  good grief, lol. ::)

Where are you posting the image?  I'd like to look at the code you're using.  I'm able to get your image to work fine.

I was trying to post the image on the forum.  What I did, was like the instructions said, right click the large image, copy the url, paste it between the img tags, highlight the text and hit insert image.  When I went to preview, all it had was red x, I must have missed something somewhere.  I was just reading your answer again.  Is there a code somewhere in the gallery, like photobucket or do you copy and paste the url from the top of the page where the picture is?  Either I am really confused or it is so simple, it could hit me in the face, lol :)

In regard to highlighting text and pasting it between image tags it should be one or the other, not both. You don't want two sets of image tags, just one. I just tried that and could not get an image to work.

Edit: So it should look like [ IMG ] http://www.carls-sims-3-guide.com/screenshots/latenightlogo75.jpg [ /IMG ] (no spaces)

I saw that when I tried the first time, so I left the image tags off and then highlighted it again and still got the x.  I will keep trying, I know I can't be that lame at this.
