My sister deleted my save
« on: June 26, 2017, 12:49:09 AM »
So me and my twin sister both love the sims 4 and then she was deleting saves we didn't use anymore and she accidentally deleted my favorite save of all time is there any way I can recover it?

If you're on windows, check the recycle bin.

Good chance it's in there if she didn't empty it. :)

Welcome to the forum @Tdude0317!

There's a recover games icon next to the play button at the bottom when you click load game.  I'll bet it's on that list.  I deleted my saved game (after patch, which changed how we save), and I got my favorite game of all time back that way.

I was helped in this thread when I lost my save.

Good luck :).

Edit: However, if nothing works, then, write down everything you remember about your Sims that you want back.  Then, start them from a certain point.  Last year, I had to recreate my Sullivan family.  They had about 30 generations, so I just wrote down everything I remembered about the last 4 generations.  I also made a floor plan of their house, and put all of that stuff in a folder.  I did that with a pen, not on the computer, and used a real folder to keep it in, so nothing could happen to it.  Luckily, their house was in my library, but I had the handwritten floor plan, just in case.

Another essential point is to back-up your saves to your computer.

If there is a backup save in the Saves folder
C:\Users\Username\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\saves

As shown in the photo below (click image to see larger view)

You can rename the Slot_00000010.save.ver0 file to Slot_00000010.save. Basically taking off the .ver0

Load the game to see if it's there.

Do you maybe have a backup of the save some where? In a different folder on your hard drive, backup drive or OneDrive or another cloud service?

If not there may not be a way to recover it.

Like CoolSim mentioned - if nothing works, and you remember your Sim family you can try to recreate them.

The only other way to do it, if none of the above work, is to use a program like Recuva... but you REALLY need to know your way around computers to use it properly, so I wouldn't advise it.
