Mostly Martha Immortals in Twinbrook (The End)
« on: December 12, 2010, 06:50:19 PM »
Martha left her housekeeper position at a fancy Bridgeport hotel to start her cooking career at a small town bistro.  As luck would have it, the bistro did not have any openings and she had to apply at Mickey's Diner.  Time is of the essence, first on the agenda is clean the piece of lint from her pants, then scour the local parks for potential partners.  She is inappropriate, a natural cook, friendly, neat, and a hopeless romantic.

Martha is very direct: "Hi would you be interested in being my produce provider while I work long hours and stuff you with delicious food?"

The park is pretty empty, few tourists, tons of WOMEN, and old people...wait what is Martha doing??  Noooooo!

Yuck, Mark has commitment issues.  No deal.

Tomorrow is a big day, tonight is sponsored by the fire department.  Thank you lovely hot showers and big screen tv!

After work, Martha visits a random house with bachelors and decides to make them dinner.

Mr. Good and Mr. Bad are thankful (see if you can tell which is which).  Martha says between bites:  "You guys don't mind if I crash tonight right?"

Turns out they did mind and sent her home around 3am.  But until then she had quite a good snooze in Mr. Bad's bed.  What's with the baby dreams?  Cut it out!

The next night she follows her coworker home.  Julie has cooking secrets to share and they are instant BFF.  When she goes upstairs to take a nice hot bath, Martha heads off to the kitchen.

"Ooh imported extra virgin olive oil!  Don't mind if I do!"

After dinner Martha invites herself to bed.  Turns out Mr. Julie is a doctor and was quite cranky about not getting any sleep.  Martha does not understand why, there is a perfectly comfortable couch in the room.  Tonight we are dreaming of having our own home.

The next morning Crankypants went to work and Martha took a tour of the house while Julie disappeared to the backyard in her swimsuit.  A knock on the door revealed Lincoln, who was very surprised to be greeted by Martha in her jammies.  "What nice square jaw you have," she says, "do you like food?"

Martha's ToDo list:  1.  Go to party and make everyone food when the host is not paying attention

2.  Go home to my little shack and make a big serving of salad for myself

3.  Make hot dogs for a some guy who will pay me a lot

4.  Pay the bills (note to self, find a way to never do this again)

5.  Propose to Lincoln.  Aw crap.  That did not go well at all.

Reinforcement is needed.  Martha pays a visit to Lincoln's mother, who happens to be her boss at the Diner.  Mary is very sympathetic but not entirely surprised, her boy is a known flirt but runs at the slightest hint of commitment (is the whole town like this?).  Mary promises to speak to him.

Meanwhile, parties had to be attended and food made.  Martha is getting quite a reputation.  Something about a Red Riding Cook...

Serving of falafel for some people in town.  Maybe with the money she can buy another pair of pajamas.

Tada!  Seems Lincoln had a change of heart!

Martha rewards herself with a night of dancing and some nice cash for being seen.

Lincoln preferred to keep his career in Science, despite Martha's misgivings.  Gardening, fishing, doing repairs and painting to boot makes for a stressed out husband.  Today he is not so sure this was a good idea.  A little accident at the lab had singed his eyebrows.

On her way to a party at Julie's house, Martha suddenly realizes that she forgot to have a baby.

After work Martha finds Lincoln at the kitchen table with all kinds of papers and calculators.  "Dear," he says, "it seems we have a bit of money saved now and quite a few options."

He shows her the list he made:

1.  Invest in a business - slow but good return
2.  Start construction on the house - really cramped in here and the neighbors are starting to petition
3.  Buy a vehicle - taxis are so slow!
4.  Have a baby - you were talking in your sleep last night

When she was done choking on her sandwich, Martha carefully looked at the list and picked 2.  Several months of going over blueprints, counting squares and living in half-done rooms followed.  Lincoln have discovered a wood trim that costs next to nothing and Martha was getting severly sick of looking at it in every room.  The garden was relocated to the back of the house and a big cherry tree was planted in the front.  Martha wanted a red roof but the neighborhood association pointed out that all the houses in the area have black roofs and they will not have any deviation.

One day after the new kitchen was added, a friendly neighborhood burglar arrived for the stove.

Martha called the police and the items were returned.  Police officer Darling was very friendly "I am so sorry about this, Mrs Martha!  Call me anytime and we can talk!"

Casually at dinner, Lincoln has misgivings about getting hitched.  Martha wonders if he maybe could have mentioned this BEFORE the pregnancy.

Lincoln realized his mistake when the pots and pans started flying and quickly apologized by giving her an AMAZING massage.

Martha thinks that it might be time for this baby to be born.

Not soon after, blah blah blah and here is baby girl Lina!

A nice family picture with Martha, Lincoln and baby Lina.  Why is nobody smiling?

"I know about that Darling girl, I saw you in the garden with her today," says Martha.

It took a while for this to sink in but Lincoln is learning fast.

Martha makes time in her busy schedule to look after Lina.  A cooked meal is always better than a bottle, even if it is just gooey baby food.  Martha's baby food is extra delicious.  Lina learns to walk and blah blah blah toddler things.

Lincoln is working hard at his paintings.  For a scientist, he is not half bad.

A birthday, some midnight fishing, and we have Deathfish for the pond.

Lincoln calls in his retirement.  "Yaih me!"

"Did I hear a party?" Martha says.
Lincoln: "Never mind honey, it's over."

Martha completed her missions!  She already knew how to cook ambrosia, must have been from the tv or work or something.  I'm not complaining.

Congratulations Martha!  Here are her portraits.

Martha's Checklist:
Opportunities:  Hot Dogs, Please;  We love Falafel;  Chinese Stir-Fry;  Swim into the Grill;  Memorable Meals; Falafel Portfolio
Superskill:  Cooking (other is charisma)
LTRewards:  No bills Ever, Collection Helper, Food Replicator
Real Estate:  Bookstore (building), Guppy Hills Pond (property)
Best Friends:  Justin Kayes, Gala Ball, Goodwin Knack, Julienne Knack, Leslie Miles, Shark Racket
LTW & Top Career:  Celebrated 5-Star Chef

Does Lincoln remain faithful?  Does Lina learn to paint and sculpt at lightning speed?  Stay tuned for our next chapter on Mostly Martha!

Previously on Mostly Martha:
Martha cooked for the whole town until she met Lincoln.  They built a reasonably livable house and baby Lina was born.  Martha is now the cook and cleaner of the family.

Chapter 2: Lina
First we have to laugh at Lincoln for freaking out when the doorbell rings.  Yes, the house is THAT new!

Lina comes home from school with a mysterious smile and then bursts out laughing.  I think she's on to me.

Today Martha is cooking bouillabaisse.  The secret ingredient is deathfish!  Ack! Put that back!

"Mom, can you teach me how to make this?," asks Lina.  "No, dear," replies Martha, "Mommy will be doing all the cooking.  Always.  Forever and ever."

A tender moment between Lincoln and Martha in the kitchen.  Lincoln had a midlife crisis (ahem) which made him realize that he is not such a wanderer after all.

Barely 90 and it is time for Lincoln to go.  He caught many deathfish and grew lots of life plants.  He looks very happy and left a big lifetime-wish-achieved gravestone.

Meanwhile Lina is shopping for potential husbands.  She wants to kiss Thrasher but he is checking the stove.

Conner is spacing out while Lina is talking about art.

Lina found Donnell in the backyard.  "I was just checking out your sprinkler," he explains.

Uh, I think Stevie just disqualified himself!

Martha calls for maintenance.  She is tired of the dishwasher breaking and the garden being a mess.

The rep on the line suggested that Martha at least harvests the fruit herself so they do not rot and cause a health hazard.  Martha is trying to remember how Lincoln told her to do it.

The 2-door garage is actually a secret bunker for all the immortals. Would not want the neighbors to talk.

Martha has been trying out new activities.  "I ran around all day catching bugs!" she says.

She still goes to parties and cooks for everyone.  This recipe is called Grilled Ceiling Salmon.

A second attempt to be romantic with Thrasher.  As soon as she leaned in for a kiss, he remembered that he had to go home.

Donnell is prepared.  "Don't worry Lina," he says. "I have been hypnotized not to play with your sprinkler any more."

Armandso has beautiful violet eyes, but he admits that he never really shows up on paintings.

So who is the lucky man??

It is Donnell!  Lina found him fishing and fell in love.  "Congratulations Mr. Mostly Martha," she says sweetly, "would you be a dear and clean up the garden please?"
