No one’s point of view
Lilith walked into Dina’s room and paused for a moment as she watched her sleep

It was like she wanted the carefree life that Dina was living to continue forever.. but time was short, she was only free to speak for a limited time

“Dina.. Dina..” Dina didn’t move to Lilith’s quiet voice. Lilith sighed and then took a deep breath “DINA!”

This last call woke her up with a start, Lilith gave her a moment to awaken

“What is going on? Is the baby ok?” Dina looked at Lilith in confusion
“Yes Dina, all is ok with your son. But I must speak with you now” Lilith leaned in with urgency
“Lilith, I don’t understand? Why did you wake me?” Dina asked her with some annoyance
“There are some things that I have to tell you and I only have a short time.. a very short time” Lilith looked at Dina pleading “Please.. there is so much to say, I know that you will have questions, but you need to hear me out first.. please Dina” Lilith leaned in closer to her
Dina eventually nodded her head in approval, although reluctantly

“There is so much I want to say.. and I will need to start at the beginning.. Caleb is not my brother.. He is my Father” She had only just managed to finish the last syllable before Dina stood up and started to ask questions
“Dina! Please!!! I swear I will answer everything.. but you need to let me finish this!” Lilith implored her
She could see how many emotions were running through Dina’s mind and waited as patiently as she could for Dina to agree
“I will hear you out Lilith, but you better explain everything! And where is Caleb?? Why isn’t he telling me this?” Dina started to rise again and head towards the nursery
“You need to trust me now and sit down” Lilith’s tone had changed from pleading to warning, there must have been something in her voice that made Dina pause and turn back to her
“You have 10 minutes Lilith” Dina responded
“Actually Dina, I have 30 minutes and I mean to use every single second. So please, let me continue” Lilith stared at Dina until she received a hesitant nod
“I was born in the 1800’s, my Father was a man of many means and had an appeal to him that people were drawn to”

“I remember looking at him when I was a child with such wonder and love” Lilith continued

“He had such love and compassion, always smiling and always ready to show his love”

“I hold onto those memories too hard now I think” Lilith stared in the mirror with distain

“But I wasn’t alone in my childhood.. I was a twin you see. Not identical, I looked more like my Mother and Victoria, my sister, looked more like our Father” At this Lilith smiled

“There were other differences as well, I seemed to be fluid, steady, reliable.. Victoria was clumsy, distruptive, funny”

“She used to think that this caused our Father distress, but all I could ever see was pride”

“It often felt like I was never quite alone with Caleb, Victoria was always around. He loved it, not only the sibling competition, but Victoria was his favourite and having her near him always made him smile”

Lilith was so caught up in her story she was not noticing the effect of her words on Dina

“The way he would spend time with her was always so different to how he would spend time with me” Lilith was wistful for a moment

“I never felt jealous of her or her relationship with Caleb, she was such a wonderful child and sister, you couldn’t help but want the best for her and want to please her”

Lilith then paused.. “This will be difficult for me, so give me a second” Lilith looked to her lap for a moment, took a deep breath and looked up towards the ceiling “I don’t often get to talk about my Mother.. or even allow myself to think of her, but when I do all the emotions of loss and love come rushing back.. you see, my Mother was Human”

“Her name was Margaret. She and Caleb were very much in love”

“Extremely devoted to each other and to us girls, we would often catch them together and giggle”

It was then that Lilith seemed to remember that she was talking with Caleb’s current wife, and with some guilt she looked at Dina to see if she was OK

“Continue Lilith.. please” Dina said with steel in her voice
Lilith had the grace to feel guilty about letting her story get too far away from the reason of telling it.. So she allowed herself one more indulgent image to flash through her mind before she continued
