Origin Issues
« on: May 21, 2017, 09:09:55 AM »
Hi! It's been a while since i logged in here.
So anyway, I've been playing the sims 3 with a few expansions installed with discs without many if any problems. Well a few days ago i bought/downloaded an expansion and a stuff pack from origin and now my game keeps crashing. I tried the DEP thing, changed compatibility and even unchecked a few expansions just earlier and then my whole laptop just turned off during game play :/
Is it because some expansions and stuff packs were from discs and some were downloaded? Is it an issue with origin? Everything is up to date. Is it better to go back to just using the CD versions?
If there is a similar thread, please feel free to redirect me :)
Thank you!

It shouldn't be crashing because you have a mix of disc games and download. However, something may have happened during install of the expansion and stuff packs.

Something to try is to register your discs with Origin and download and install what expansions and stuff packs you have purchased.

I was thinking about doing that, actually :) i can't find my supernatural disc though :/ another idea that my partner had was to uninstall/delete everything and start fresh but i don't want to lose my sims family. I'll try registering and downloading first
Thanks for that ^_^

Back up your Sims 3 folder from your documents.
C:\Users\<Username>\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3

This way you won't loose your game saves, families or houses, etc.

You mentioned uninstalling everything and reinstall. I can't tell if that means windows and the like or just the game. But if it's reinstall windows and game, back up your Sims 3 folder to a usb flash drive. So you have the folder backed up and can use it after you reinstall the game.

I personally like to back up the whole Sims 3 folder, but in the post linked below I break it down a little further and give an idea of what files/folders to save.

Oh, just the game :) i don't like the idea of reinstalling windows. I should have been more specific, lol sorry about that. Thanks again! I'll be sure to back up if i do decide to give reinstalling a go :)
