Trying my hand at a Nancy Drew Sims 3 game and I've started by building the Drew Home from Alibi in Ashes (AiA).
The game only gives you small glimpses of the home, so I worked with what was there and improvised the rest.
This will be Nancy's home when she's a teen and since her hometown is River Heights in the books, I've placed it in Riverview.
Click on photos to enlarge them. Here's the outside, but no landscaping has been done so far, except for the start of a pool in the back.
The picket fence may not stay, as I was just using it so I could determine how close I was to the edge of the lot.
Here's the front entry with the staircase to the 2nd floor, as best as I could render it in Sims 3.
It includes the bench and a potted plant by the stairs, as well as giving you a peek into the hall ahead, but you can't actually go there in AiA.
Here's the other side, which shows a hall closet and another archway, also off-limits in AiA.
But in Sims 3, that door leads to Hannah's bedroom.
But you can go to the living room and check out a few things, like the coffee table, which has a newspaper on it in AiA.
Something that I couldn't find at all in decorative items, so we'll just have to wait for the newspaper kid to deliver one.
The piano looks nice though and this one you can actually play.
The fireplace in AiA was actually on the left as you walked into the living room.
But that put a brick chimney smack dab on the front of the house with no windows. Um, no.
Since that totally detracts from curb appeal, and offends my building sensibilities (lol), I switched the fireplace to the back wall.
And put full length windows on the front wall, definitely a better aesthetic, especially outside.
Then you get to head upstairs, and check out Carson's home office.
Archways can't be placed in diagonal walls in Sims 3, or not any way I could figure out, so I didn't bother with them and left this room open and decided against trying to make this room turret-like with many diagonal walls as that's also harder for me to work with in Sims 3. But I did add some seating in the center of the room.
Then there's Nancy's room, the 'center of operations' which is her desk.
Her bed.
And her sitting area.
I've added in the rest of the home using creative license.
The main floor with Hannah's bedroom on the far right.
And the kitchen and dining area on the back of the home.
The second floor also has Carson's large bedroom suite along with a guest room.
I've still got plenty more to do on it, but it's getting there!
