Corrupted Aleister's Store

Help. It doesn't seem to matter which town I'm in or which active family. My Aleister's Store suddenly refuses to go into "buy" mode. My Sim can talk to the employee but can't get to buy or consign. This has happened multiple times. It usually happens when I place the store in a town that doesn't come with one so I place a new one from the edit town list. This time I'm playing Moonlight Falls, which comes with the elixir store. It just crapped out again.

I've tried editing the town to bulldoze and replace the store - back in it's original lot and in a different lot. I did change the lot type to match. I finally removed the store altogether and quit & saved my game. I just got back in and went to edit mode to replace the store. The new one (again) will not allow my sim to put stuff on consignment. What am I doing wrong?

The other consignment store won't buy elixers.

Have you tried a factory reset and a new game to see if Aleister's Store works in a new Sims 3 folder and new game? - Maybe something in the game has gotten corrupted.

You can save your family and house, export them so you can play them in the new folder and game.

Yes. I"ve started new games several times and the store works in a new game. Unfortunately, whatever glitches eventually happens even in my new game. I don't want to lose all my built up relationships - again.

This only seems to happen to the elixir store. The others work just fine. Has anyone else run into this problem.

I don't know if this applies to your situation, but I've had a similar problem in the past. It happens when I've had something on consignment for longer than three days. The first time it happened, I had to bulldoze Aleister's and replace it. Then when my sim went in, and I clicked on the register, I finally got the option to cancel consignment. Once I had canceled, I could buy and sell again.
