Garden Pot (Woodworking) - Plants fail to germinate (Solved)

I have a sim who is creating Garden Pots (single plant) through the woodworking bench. I have tried planting multiple plants (vegetables, fruits and herbs) into the garden pot but they always fail to germinate (with the exception of mushrooms). Does anyone know if this is a bug of some sort?

Instead of deleting I thought I would let you know that I've solved the issue in case anyone else runs into this problem. The issue was with the garden pot being up against a wall. Once I moved the garden pot to an open area I was able to plant a plant into the pot.
