From Flirty to okay?

Hey guys, for some reason, this pair of people just couldn't get past the ____ thinks ___ is flirty part. Whenever I click a romantic interaction, and it is successful, the screen has a moment of flirty showing before it randomly bounces back to okay. Can someone please tell me what's going on? This is on the sims 3 games, not sims 4.
