Welcome to Snowy! Glad to have you join us!

@ Snowy: And can I just say that we Western Canadians have seen enough of you over the past 3 days!!  ;)  (It's been a regular snow storm here - beautiful, but dangerous for driving.)

Um...hello.

I'm always stumbling into things in life, with this thread being one of the most obvious examples right now. I found this site by accident, after clicking on the wrong Google link, but ended up looking at both the guide and the forum. I spent a while lurking around here, but was finally persuaded to join by the arrival of the new challenge season.

The name's from a book, by the way. I'm not even remotely religious.
There is definitely no plug for either the No Photos Legacy or Room Dynasty here. There's a time and a place for plugs, and this is neither.

Hiya!
If anyone needs I can supply formulae for challenges and the like
But if I get them wrong please don't have a go at me. This is GCSE stuff and I'm not even 13 yet.
But I can do the maths!
For instance, let's say that there is a timed challenge on. Someone posts their time as "Week 2, Day 4, 15:00", and you need to find the number of hours.
The formula would be as follows:
W=weeks, d=day, and h=hour.
168 hours in a week, and 24 in a day.
T(total)=w(Number of weeks)(multiplied by)168+d(number of days)(multiplied by)24+15(from the hours)-8(because the game starts at 8am.
So it all boils down to:
T=(wx168)+(dx24)+h-8
Yes, I know I shouldn't be using the multiplication sign, but it makes it much easier to read.
The answer is:
168x2=336. 4x24=96. Plus 15. Minus 8. And the answer is...439 hours in total
To clarify... 14x24=336(from the weeks). 4x24=96(from the days). Plus 15 from the hours. Minus 8, because of the start of time in a game.
Which equals... 439 hours!
Hooray!I was right! :o
So, if that doesn't prove my equations as genuine and correct, then I don't know what will. If you need an equation calculated, you know who to come to. Don't you?? ???

Hello, MissMaths.

Have a good time on the forum, and keep doing maths!

I'm sure that if anyone is stuck on their sums they can rely on you.

Welcome to the forum ElectricMonk and MissMaths! Enjoy it!

That's quite good maths for someone your age MissMaths. If you ever need help on something more advanced, give a shout as I do have a similar talent, but am just older. :)
I'm sure you can be of help to other people too.

By the way, if you want the proper multiplication sign, press alt and type 0215 if you have Windows (on the right number 'square'). That or alt and 00d7 depending on which one you like.
Manbearpig simply wants to get you. I'm super cereal. - Al Gore :)

Uh... I'm your age, and that is very very very confusing to me.
You ask me to solve a maths equation, and I'll do it and get it wrong anyway.

This is something that has bothered me for a long time and I'm finally just going to ask.  When did "math" become "maths" with an S?  I have a professor and two teachers in my immediate family (one is a geometry teacher) and I asked them the same thing.  They all told me that it's always been "math" and adding the S to it is a mystery.  Is it a generation thing?  Or a new age thing?  Or is it just incorrect?  I'm really curious.

What? I never say maths. It's not a new age thing. I'm in high school and no one here says maths.
