Well, I've been (ab)using the Carl's Sims 3 Guide-Site quite a bit for over a month now, and been a member of this forum for a few days, so after a little push from a certain Swede I decided to properly introduce myself. :)
Hello simmers, my real name is Catarina, and I'm turning 18 this year so I'm one of the teenagers in the crowd here. :D I live in southern Stockholm, in Sweden, where I've been living all my life with my family. We've got two cats, Bamse and Baltazar (both males), who like to release their bladders all around in our home  ::). If I were a sim my traits would probably be: Artistic, Ambitious (alternating with Couch potato ;D), Perfectionist, Bookworm (though it's been weeks since I last read a book... but I do read a lot of Fanfiction!) and Friendly. Probably with a bit of Over Emotional thrown in there, too.
I've played The Sims since 2002-2003 something, and loved it a lot. So of course I was very excited for The Sims 2 and I loved that too. Then, The Sims 3 came out and I must admit I wasn't as interested as with TS2, and nearly forgot about it, until my parents gave me TS3 and TS3:WA as a Christmas present. After which I was completely hooked, and I spent a couple of months playing it non-stop, but now it's calmed down a bit. I still play it approximately twice a week, sometimes more, sometimes less, depending on my mood and my amount of free time. I'm planning on getting HELS and Ambitions, but we'll have to see.
Though I am a native Swede and speak Swedish fluently, I am very good at English (after several years of watching English TV shows and reading English Fanfiction) and I have no real problems speaking it properly. I'm also glad to have found a forum where it's according to rules to speak PROPER English, instead of breaking every grammatical rule in existence. I'm a bit of a grammar freak, my class-mates would find it highly annoying when I would constantly correct Swedish mistakes, so I just stuck to doing it in my head and not out loud.
I'm also glad for a forum which is very children-friendly and definitely rated "All Ages". Recently I've frequented a forum which would be quite the opposite (filled with crazed, outspoken women, oh joy ;D), which I don't mind but it feels like a nice change.
But most of all, I'm here because it is not as cluttered and off-topic as the official forums, and it has many helpful people willing to answer any questions and help other members. Carl, Pam and all their helpers have really made a great guide, too, that I like reading, not much because I'm in dire need of help, but because I find it very interesting and informative. ;D I've learned a lot of TS3 these last few months, but there's always something new when it comes to The Sims (3).  :) So thank You for your incredible work, I've learned a lot from you!!
(And yes, I tend to be quite long-winded with my posts, hopefully it's not too hard to read for you :P)

Hello! I'm DeNile (witty, no?), long time lurker, first time poster. Figured it was only right to register and introduce myself since I've been using the two sites for months now and have never actually thanked anyone for it. So, thank you to everyone who helps out. You are all amazing people.

Anywho, back in fourth grade my friend Ian introduced me to The Sims, and I proceeded to go over to his house and hog his computer to play it. Eventually though, I got my own copy (The Sims: Deluxe Edition). I never bought any expansions to it, I just used Ian's, but I've always been an avid fan of the Sims. A few years ago I begged by mom to buy me Sims 2 (Also Deluxe Edition), and here I am! I own every Expansion for Sims 2, but no stuff packs. Last year I counted the hours until Sims 3 came out, did a happy dance in my PJ's on the balcony when my mom pre-ordered the Collector's Edition as a Christmas present, then threw a very, very interesting tantrum when the release date got pushed back. In the end, I begged my mom to upgrade the computer so I could play the game, somehow conned her into buying me everything that's come out for it, and have been using the Plumbob as a mind control method ever since.

I'm a high school student in CANADA, sorry about the caps, and am a certified Sims 3 addict. When I first discovered the Guide I think I read 80% of the pages in it before actually going to bed that night, and then proceeded to awaken at 3 am to finish reading it, on a school night.  :)

I plan on joining in on the rest of the forums at some point, as I know the answers to a couple questions I've found, as well as a couple of neat things I've discovered that I don't think anyone else has posted about yet. I've also just developed a new playing style! I hope none of you mind my long winded intro as I don't want to bore any of you.

Happy Simming!

-DeNile

PS. I actually went back and spell-checked this! I never do that! I must really respect you guys!

EDIT: By popular request ::), I've decided to translate this bit for everybody else:
Well, what can I really say more than before, Catarina, if not welcome another time! :) Good that you enjoy the forum, people here like to hear it. ;D
We must at least be more than half a dozen (only counting those who have said anything) Swedes here now! (and think to meet another 92 as well!)

Welcome DeNile! You must really have enjoyed the guide a great deal to read it all night! :o Hope you're going to like your time here on the forum then. ;)

Hi Illuminator! Think, looking at your profile I can see you've been here longer than me! ;D Perhaps it was time to present yourself.

I'm of swedish ancestry and being Norwegian I can understand swedish perfectly;)
Yeah, I'm Swedish, so Norwegian is also very comprehensible for me. Sure, weird grammar, spelling and vocabulary in places (at least for me! ;D), but hey, some supposed Swedish dialects I've heard have been worse! ;)

Another moderator here is a Dane and I've always been suspicious that she can read Swedish. :-X

I don't even have to welcome you to the forum. You're already welcomed like thousands of times now.

Welcome to the forum Castastic...I too am a grammer nut and it kills my brain to read most posts on the official site. :P  Thanks to everyone here, that's not a problem on this forum. ;D

Hi DeNile and welcome to the forum.  I threw my own particular tantrum also when the sims 3 was delayed...but I lived through it.  :D

Welcome to all the new folks!  Sheesh, you take off for a week or so and come back to what, 15 new members?  That's awesome!   ;D
It's always amazing how much you can miss, in what would normally feel like such a short space of time, right? :D
And Thank You for all the welcomes, guys (and girls!)! It's always nice to stop in on these smaller and friendlier forums where people actually know each other.  :) And yes, the grammar control is of course a nice element, that I think many people can take use of. I pop into the official forums, and every time I see someone write "your" instead of "you're" or "defiantly" instead of "definitely"(::)), I think I gain another grey hair on my head (and I'm not even legally an adult yet, it's absolutely shameful!).
And it's weird, I'm having summer vacation, but it feels like I have less time to do things than when I still had school.  ??? But I definitely won't be thinking the same thing when school starts again, uugh!
And yay, we're going out into town to do some mini-golf tomorrow! ;D I really suck at it, but it's really fun. Did it a couple of months ago with my school class, and I came out last in my group of three (:-[), and ironically, the one hole I got hole-in-one on (the last one), was the hole my other two team-mates couldn't finish without carrying the ball to the hole. Gotta love all these small and random stuff you come to enjoy so much in the everyday life! ;D

Hi all.

I'm another refugee from the official forum, tho I still go there. I'm not sure how active I'll be here, but it's great to find a place where an effort is made to write!
