I signed up in October.  Didn't this forum or site start up a couple of months before that?  Time has already flown by, I can't keep up.

Thank you for the compliment. I've read a lot of English stuff on mostly the internet or by watching movies or playing games (thank you Pokemon) so I'm familiar with the language.
He, I know what you mean. I attribute all my English skills from an English Cartoon Network from when I was 3 and then the Simpsons several times a day between 6 and 10. My pokémon however was in Swedish, so that's excluded. It's amazing how much language you can learn from TV, isn't it? :)

Like 90% of all my computer and console games are in English as well, so that certainly has had its part.

When I was very young I just started reading things in English because there was no proper translation available. I was miles ahead when I started English lessons. My parents also thought it was very important for me to learn English, because only a few countries speak Dutch and English is spoken everywhere.

People speak Dutch in... what will it be (?): 5 country's or so? Holland, partly Belgium, Nederlandse Antillen, a place in Africa I beleaved (wasn't it Kaap de Goede Hoop?) and that's it I beleave. Hmmm, I don't even reach five. Aw well, a few hundred years back we ware waayyy more famous around the globe with all our VOC ships than we are now. For them who don't know it: VOC stands for Verenigd Oostindische Company (United Eastindi Companion I beleave it was in English). But... we finally are getting back now in Sunset Valley! Yes, it's true. Haven't see us yet? Start painting people! Let the hidden old Dutch masters floating throw your vains while your playing with your easle.

Maybe we can come up with something for a one year anniversary.  That would be neat.

Hey all

I just wanted to introduce myself, I've been reading the guide and forum for some time now and its amazing how many little things you learn that I would have never figured out on my own about the Sims 3.

Again like many of you I've played the Sims series since the beginning.  I think the game is great and has so much playability.  The next expansion (Ambitions) looks like it adds a whole lot more, and of course, hopefully we'll get Servo back :)

The reason why I signed up for more than lurking is to try and take part in some of the challenges, as I think they look really fun.

Thanks and see you all around
^^!

Swedish pokemon? I wonder how that will sound. 'Ska fånga dem alla' instead of 'gotta catch them all?'

Welcome Seren and BabyJo! Happy you've joined the forum. :)

You're not far off. "Gotta catch 'em all" became "måste fånga fler" (literal translation: must catch more). Grammatically, the other thing must be "Pikachu, jag väljer dig!", but otherwise it was correct! ;)

Swedish doesn't look so difficult. When I was in Sweden I was surprised of how many I could understand!

Very interesting to see many different people and languages on here.  Always great to learn about different countries.  I live in Florida and it is boring here, not much of a beach goer and it is hot, but it is home and that is what matters.  Welcome to all of the newcomers, great site and sure you will learn alot.

Welcome to the forum Intelman!

Salty: Florida is probably one of the states I picture as exotic, at least relative to Sweden. Here, it rains more than in Great Britain, 80% of the land is scarcely populated forests and we have like one of the world's largest populations of mosquitoes! With 20 hours of darkness a day even in the southern parts, during the winter, in Sweden I would think that Florida is very tropical in comparison. ;)
