Hi - I played the original Sims back in the day but had to stop because I got a bit obsessed, lol!

I got Sims4 in the Spring of 2020 and am getting similarly obsessed. I've only recently started the 10-gen Dynasty challenge and love reading other peoples journeys with theirs here.

I find the different strategies are really helpful so I thought I'd better join the forum officially instead of being a stalker.

Hello Granny Lawlor! I'm also new, and play The Sims 4. It's really quiet here, I'm surprised that there are almost no conversations going on. The guides are very helpful though, and reading old posts where previous players have tested various features in the game is interesting.

Welcome aboard Granny Lawlor,

Good luck with your 10-Gen Dynasty. I find reading others' stories helps me with finding new ways to do things that I never thought of before. If you ever have questions, please don't hesitate to ask. We are all here to help each other.

Yes, you do help eachother, here; you just don't really chat. :) Perhaps I'm too late to this game, all the good conversations are old and done, only the complaints are left.

EDIT: @sdhoey If you have anything to say to me about this post of mine I would feel more comfortable if you adressed me here instead of in a PM. And unless this thread is not for chatting or any rules were broken I don't see the issue with me stating the obvious, that this forum has almost no one posting in it, and barely anyone reading the threads and visiting. It is a shame, I think, because the forum is historically a place where a lot of people have posted valuable information about the game; but non the less true.

@nomo - @sdhoey wanted to communicate with you alone, so that was the reason for a PM. This is a public thread. She did the right thing.

On a different note, I totally am with you on the reduced activity on the forum. Anyone who has been around the forum for a while can see it. I head up all the Tournament Challenges and Dynasties on the forum and have done so since 2010. Back in the Sims 3 heydays, we would have 75+ players participate in some events. Nowadays, we may get 10-20 players. It is what it is. Sims 4 in many players' opinion is not as good of a game as its predecessor. Many great players have participated over the years and have simply moved on to other games. @sdhoey is part of my team and all of us do our best to come up with new ways to challenge players. Jump in a Tournament challenge. We'd love to have you participate. Once challenges are over there is good discussion from the top players on how they tackled the event -- great tips and strategy on how to improve your gameplay.

One of these days I will enter one of these challenges. I have been thinking this for years. I too miss the more active boards of the past. Issue is I have done everything there is to do in the game not counting mods. It is hard to talk about things that you seen a thousand times and be excited. I still like the game, but it just isn't fresh. Still haven't done an official challenge you guys put out.

@scoed: try it out, I get bored without any structure in this intentionally structureless game. The dynasty challenges don't taunt you with a deadline either if that's what scaring you (it scares me!)

It's a sad-ish result of the long running time of this game (the other Sims games packed it up after four years and the proclamations of "this is our FINAL YEAR OF CHALLENGES" for TS4 are very funny now) and relative content droughts. But I think it's manageable.
No respect, no chance, cease and desist when I chant-

I always play with restrictions and goals, usually more restricted then the challenges. What keeps me away is the record keeping and mod removal. And in fact I have unofficially done some of the challenges but started late or kept my mods in so it didn't count. Play time is an issue for me as well. I likely will do one eventually as they interest me.

Hello everyone!

I came here because I wanted to be part of a friendly Sims4 related forum. It's kind of a self-elected exile if you so want. I have been playing every game in the Sims series (Mostly The Sims 2, hardly anything of The Sims 1) and right now I'm on The Sims 4 where I focus on creating sims and doing makeovers of the auto generated ones/pre mades. Redecorating lots is also quite fun and the gameplay itself. My username is chosen based on the facts that I use to brows the net back and forth hunting down CC for my game. Today I have to be more selective about that as I'm on a very low patch level. I have chosen to play offline and avoid patches as I'm concerned about the safety of my game in general and the mod I use to create anthro furries more specific.
Unpopular opinion: I like the Sims 4

Hi, everyone! I'm a gamer and Harry Potter fanfiction writer. I'm in the US, but to be honest I'd love to move to someplace like Northern Europe. I don't know, it's just a thought. I'm a big fan of The Sims, but I like 4 best because it's so much more realistic looking than the first two, and my The Sims 3 games always took forever to load on my home desktop computer...

It's a pleasure to be here and meet all you fellow Simmers! Long Live the Spinning Green Diamond!

Note: Yes, I know it's called a Plumbob, but I thought my nickname for it would sound cute, just this once. ;)

P. S. I adore cats! The end. ;D

Hello my name is Sarah. I am from New Zealand. *waves at everyone*  :)

I used to play the old original version of the Sims a long time ago on our old family computer when I was younger. And later on, I would play the Sims 3 on my aunty's PS3 playstation.

And then I had joined Origin/EA to download and play the Sims 4 game on my MacBook laptop.

I had been playing the Sims 4 game since the end of December last year as it was part of my Christmas present from my little sister.  :D
