Hi Everybody. I somehow doubt people will read all the way to the last page of this thread to find my intro but I'll put it here. I've been a big fan of Sims games since #1. I just never seem to find time to play them. I have an on-again off-again relationship with Sims 3 and right now I'm on I guess, partly because I'm excited about the Pets expansion that's coming out. I didn't get Generations until earlier this month and I love it.
I think this is probably one of the best Sims3 sites I've come across which offers support for the basic game without modification. I decided to join up because I want to try my hand at some of the contests. I've never entered a contest before, but I love building houses. I'd try a dynasty challenge but my game is kind of unstable and tends to run into a lot of problems once I get past 2-3 generations unless I use mods to let me get around some of the problems. Photography is completely bugged out for me (the sim freezes up while taking a picture and I have to use resetsim to get him out of it) and there are some tombs in China that are impossible to complete without enlisting the aid of cheats unfortunately and I had a freezing bug for awhile that was lagging China like crazy but I figured out how to fix it. The last time I stopped playing it was because I had that WA bug that caused my family trees to vanish and that was completely disheartening since I like to see the family tree grow as I play and losing the tree made the whole thing feel pointless, especially on top of the various bugs I tend to find. Even with my current set up though, I managed to get the bug where the adventure board in france stopped giving me quests
So I'm getting to be an expert on fixing or getting around these problems, from restoring back up saves to finding just the right cheat code haha, I'm determined to get a family to last a few more generations than last time. I'm a former computer programmer myself so I've been mildly tempted to learn how to write mods for the game. Right now I'm a stay-at-home mom with two lovely real children, a 6 year old daughter and a brand new 4 month old son. We live near Washington DC. I've been thinking it'd be neat to build a downtown area
(using CAW) to resemble the brick streets of Annapolis. The problem is that Annapolis is a harbor and I don't have appropriate buildings to make a 'harbor' look to something and there's only the one swirling sailboat world decoration but I may come up with something.
Oh and before anyone says anything. I KNOW we don't talk about mods here. I don't think there's a taboo against saying something about them in a general sense and I won't mention any specific ones anyways but I have found them helpful myself and trust that I know how to use them without breaking anything that isn't already broke ;P
But I can build houses! I hope y'all like what I come up with.
