Welcome MoMoll! I work with foreign exchange students who are living in the US for a year as a part of the Rotary Youth Exchange program, and many of them have said to me exactly what you said about language. It really is a struggle, but once you know it, it opens you up to so many new and wonderful things! Good luck with learning French! I took it for three years in high school, so I'm a little rusty, but if you have any questions, feel free to shoot them my way.  :D

Thanx Flootie for the offer. The problem is I have a mental block to the language. I understand more than I speak, and I can't seem to lose my accent. Whenever I open my mouth, the otehr person reverts to English if they now it. I have been living here for 15 years, working in an English speaking Pharmaceutical company. My husband is French, but we only speak English at home and it's difficult to change that. Of the three girls only one is completely bilingual (the other 2 returned to the US).

Greetings, folks!  Posey here!

Long-time, on-and-off Simmer (starting with the first SimCity).  I started TS3 at launch but it and my computer did not get along.  Couldn't even get through CAS :(, so I uninstalled, put it in the back of the closet and pretty much forgot about it.  Long story short, I recently replaced the old comp and, last month while rooting about in the closet, I stumbled across TS3.  On a whim, I decided to give it another go and voila, it works like a charm now!  Yahoo, here we go!

I've been playing and enjoying every moment.  There's so much to do, and I only have the base game, no expansions yet.  After lurking this site and these forums (an excellent resource, my heartfelt thanks to those responsible!), I figured it was time to join up, so here I am!

Welcome, Posy! Be warned, I think that TS3 is much more addictive than the previous games!  ;D

Welcome to the forum, Posey. :) I had nearly the same experience with TS1 back in 2004.

Thanks for the welcome, Samoht, Floottiebeauty and ChronicR!  I know what you mean about addicting -- I'm already finding myself imagining relationship plus (or minus) symbols when interacting with people in real life... :o

 ;)

That's only the start - you'll be imagining needs bars, Lifetime Happiness, Wishes, Events, and the like. ;D
