Author Topic: Question about "Simple Shower" for Aesthetics and Unhappy Sims....  (Read 7641 times)

So, sometimes the "Simple Shower" is nice for aesthetic reasons, but sims hate it. Can a handy Sim upgrade it to make it so the negative moodlets (Cold shower, or whatever) associated with it go away? That is, are there any upgrades available at higher levels of the handiness skill other than unbreakable or self cleaning? I assume no, but it's not really worth sims being unhappy just to make the bathroom look a certain way, I'm just sorta curious.

I've had a few sims at max handiness and have never seen any options for upgrades other than self-cleaning or unbreakable.

That's a shame... the glass is a nice look when I'm freely building houses, but it's not very practical once Sims actually start living there. It seems like half of every shower taken in one of them ends in the Sim being sad for one reason or another. Thanks for the input!

It's the same with the showers from expansion packs and Store sets.  They are square and glass, based on the one in the base game.  They look awesome, but you sometimes get that cold shower moodlet.  And these are expensive showers which makes it even more annoying.

My Max Skills sim has fullfilled every oppertunity that comes with Handiness and he unfortuniatly can't cause miracles with the shower just because he is overskilled. So I asume that if he can't do it, nobody can.
But... what you could do to sort of overwin the bad shower moodlets is sciencetiffically upgrade the shower so it provides the sim with a moodlet which + effect can overwin the negative - moodlet of the occasionally cold water effect. I don't know how long that moodlet last, but positive science moodlets lest for several hours, up till 4, if I'm right. That way, you can use every shower you want (and a handy sim can make it unbreakable or selfcleaning) while having a sim that comes out of it happier than it came in before.

This is a very interesting idea, and I think I'll experiment with it a little.  But is there a list somewhere of what the effects of the science experiment results are?  At least this way I'd have a good idea when to stop.

And also:  if your handy sim has completed the plumbing challenge, making something unbreakable is kind of a waste.  If he's the one who fixes it when it breaks, it will never break again.  ;)

First of all: sorry for responding so lately. This topic must have been overflueded by another topics-tsunami which prevended me from replying to this first.
But about your question: I don't know if there is a list for science upgrades. There sure are on the internet somewhere but they may appear on sites which contains third party content, which we won't link to on this forum.
You could try Google of course. If you fail finding what you need you can send me a pm here, so I can help you further.

Actually, I Google'd it as you suggested, and found that Sims Wiki actually had a list.  Well...two lists:  one for the moodlet effect (if it has one) and one for how the effect is applied.

And really, science experiments aren't all they're cracked up to be:  there are a good number of negative moodlets that can be applied as well.  It would take quite a few experiments to get something worthwhile.

Sorry to revive an old topic, but I was wondering if the "Futureshock Loft- Sani-Booth Max 3700" has the 'cold shower' moodlet problem. I'm sorting through my store content and making a smaller file with only content I use a lot (for my slightly less capable laptop)- and I don't want to use a shower that has the negative moodlet. As far as I know the Ultra Lounge Shower does (someone correct me if I'm wrong) so I usually end up using the base-game expensive shower to avoid it.

If it helps to find out, for anyone who knows how the code in s3pe works (it doesn't make much sense to me), this is what I found inside the .package file that had any mention of moodlets:
