Stories of Sunset(Last Updated: 04/02/17)

Holly was painting when she heard the doorbell ring. Instantly throwing her paintbrush down, she rushed downstairs, ignoring her parents flirting in the next room.

“Bebe! Did you bring the movies?” Bebe grinned, holding up a box.

“What about you, did you get the popcorn?” Holly rolled her eyes.

“Of course!” She said, pulling her best friend into a hug.

“So, homework first? We should be done in time to finish the movies by eleven.” Holly said practically. Bebe groaned.

“Oh my god, Holly. Of course you want to be finished by eleven on a Saturday night,” Holly frowned.

“Come on, the history homework was the whole reason you came over!” Bebe laughed.

“Using facts against me? Sit down then, let’s get to work.” Just then, Vita walked in.

“Hello girls! Bebe, how are your parents? I hear you have a new dog?”

“Yes, Mrs Alto. She’s great, but a bit messy. My parents are fine. How are you?” Bebe asked politely.

“Oh, you know. Not that busy right now, but the election period starts soon, so that won’t last long. I don’t suppose your parents have any idea who they’re voting for?” Vita asked with a sugar-sweet smile.

“Um, I’m not sure, but I’ll, uh, put in a word for you, Mrs Alto.” Vita beamed.

“How sweet! Now I must be getting on, I-” She suddenly put a hand over her mouth.

“Mum?” Holly asked in concern. Vita recovered herself quickly.

“I’ve just been having some nausea recently, don’t worry about it.”

“Have you been to the doctor?” Holly asked. Vita made a face.

“And have Dr Landgraab tell Nancy I’m ill? Not a chance in hell. But you two get on,” She said, suddenly remembering Bebe was in the room. She walked back up the stairs and the girls sat down at the long dining table.

“So, what did you call the new dog?” Holly asked.

“Waggles. Mum’s idea. She is adorable though. Waggles, not Mum.”

Holly knew Bebe’s parents were a bit on the odd side, to say the least, and it was increasingly Bebe taking care of them rather than the other way round.

Holly zoned back in to find Bebe talking more about the puppy.

“She pees all over the house, you know, but Mum seems happier these days, so I try not to complain about her. Besides, Dad said he’d get her house trained, but I expect he’ll forget. I’ll try and work on it at the weekends.”

~

“Fina-freaking-ly! Let’s go put the first one on!” Bebe declared, standing up. Holly laughed and soon they were sat in Holly’s room. When it got to a boring part, they started talking and Holly suddenly remembered Bebe’s date the night before. Bebe had been dating Ethan Bunch ever since Bebe got bored of dropping hints and kissed him at the park, and they were really cute except when they started getting too sappy in the middle of lunch at the group’s table.

“I completely forgot to ask, how was the date?”

“Well, you can imagine how awkward it is to find yourself at the same restaurant as your boyfriend’s parents.” Holly gasped, hands on her mouth.

“No way! What happened?”

“Fortunately they’d just finished eating, so they left for a movie once we saw them. Oh, by the way, did you know Judy’s pregnant again?” Bebe asked.

“Oh yeah, Ethan told me at lunch on Friday.”

“Oh, right. I wonder where it’ll go? I guess it’ll stay in their room until it’s older, but then Ethan or Lisa will have to share their room, I guess.”

“You never know, Ethan might have moved out by then, or at least be at university.”

“True. God, we’re old, aren’t we?” Holly snorted.

“If we’re old, what are our parents? And you worry too much about growing up. The world will keep going around after we leave school, Bee.”

Bebe shrugged. “I guess.”

“Anyway, did Ethan finally ask about prom? That boy cannot take a hint, can he? You literally asked me on Thursday what dress I was going to wear so we didn’t wear the same thing, unless of course you didn’t need to worry because you weren’t going.” Bebe laughed.

“Yeah, he asked. It was so cute! You know how people put engagement rings in champagne glasses? He did that with my water glass, but it was a little laminated piece of paper saying ‘Will you go to prom with me?’. So cute!”

Holly put her hand on her heart. “Awwww! That is adorable!”

“So, are you still going alone?” Bebe asked.

“Yeah. Ever since Ry moved away, I just don’t want to date. Besides, what are even my options? Parker is Parker and Michael…. okay, you can’t tell either of them this, but…”

“Yeah?” Bebe asked eagerly.

“Don’t you think Mike likes River? He’s always holding doors for her and picking up stuff she drops,”

“He does that to me and you too. It’s just how his dad raised him.”

“Yeah, but he gets this look on his face when it’s River. I don’t know. Just don’t tell them I said anything.” Holly pleaded.

Bebe smiled. “Pinky promise.”

Hello everyone! This is my first story in quite a while, but it's good to be back! This story will mainly be focusing on six of the Sunset Valley teenagers, Holly, Bebe, Ethan, Michael, Parker and River. Constructive criticism is appreciated.

Updates may be slow as I have a busy year at school, but the next few are half written so I'd say probably one by the end of the week, at least.

I like how this has started off! It was cute how Ethan used the glasses to ask Bebe to the prom.

Thanks both of you! Cheezey, you actually inspired me to do a realistic SV story(I love Brilliant Minds)!

Holly yawned as she woke up, patting around for the alarm clock. She wasn’t much of a morning person, but unlike some of her friends(read: Parker) she could still get up in the morning. She walked into the kitchen, rubbing her eyes, and sat down at the counter with her mother, who already had a bowl of cereal.

“Hi, Mum.”

“Holly! Good morning! I have news. I’m pregnant.” Holly choked on her cornflakes.

“What? Really?”

“Yes, I had a suspicion so I thought I’d take a test before going to the hospital, just to rule it out. Your father has always wanted a larger family so he was very…. positive. It’ll certainly make the mayoral election more complicated, but as you turned out… not quite as we hoped, shall we say, I suppose having another child would be good so there’s someone to uphold our reputation.”

“Uh, right. Congratulations?”

“Yes, yes. Get ready for school now, dear.”

~

Holly got off the bus and immediately spotted two of her friends.

“Jeez, guys. It’s literally 9am, calm down.”

Bebe laughed and dusted herself off. “Sorry, Hols. Have you seen River? I need to ah, borrow her physics notes. Just to compare against my own, of course.” Holly shook her head fondly.

“I only just got here. Have you tried the library?” The bell went as she finished her sentence. “I guess you’ll have to ask at break. C’mon.”

~

Ethan blew a kiss at Bebe as he sat down. “Hey guys! What’s up?”

“The sky,” Parker said cheerfully and everyone looked at him.

“I will end you.” River hissed. Parker raised his hands in surrender.

“I’m sorry if you don’t appreciate- Ethan, is that your sister?” Ethan looked confused.

“Which one?” River rolled her eyes.

“How about the one that’s in this school?”

“Oh, right. Yeah, that’s Lisa.” Ethan confirmed. Michael wrinkled his nose.

“Is it me or is she kissing VJ Alvi?” He asked and Ethan huffed.

“Ugh, whatever. Let’s hurry up and get out of here, I don’t want to see that. What do you guys have next?”

“Me and River have cooking or whatever the fancy name for it is.” Holly said. Parker groaned.

“Oh yeah, guess who the newest teacher in the technology department is, specifically working in cooking and woodwork? My dad. Have fun with that, ladies. I have drama, I think.”

“No, we have PE theory next.” Michael said. Parker nodded slowly.

“Oh yeah. I might need to borrow some of your notes, I hate that class. I think I’m going to take Communications at university instead.”

“Oh yeah? I’ve been thinking too. I love art, but I also like cooking and a chef earns more than a self-employed artist. I know it’s the same degree, but I still need to think about careers.” River said.

“Great, but can we get going? VJ and Lisa haven’t come up for air in way too long.” Ethan pleaded, and Holly and River stood up.

“We should go say hi to Parker’s dad, I mean Mr Langerak, before class anyway. We haven’t had a proper cooking teacher in weeks.”

The group said their goodbyes and River and Holly headed to their classroom.

“Mr Langerak! Parker told us you were our new teacher,” River said, all smiles.

“Oh, hi girls! Yep, Iliana said that now Kaylynn is nearly in high school, it was time for me to get a job, a friend suggested teaching, and the rest is history.”

“So what are we doing today?”

“I haven’t fully researched the course yet, so today we’ll just be making a salad while I look up some more things. Nice easy lesson.” Dustin explained.

“Cool! I’m sure everyone will be excited to have a proper teacher… although about half the class is on the geography trip right now.” Holly said thoughtfully.

“I see. Good thing they’re away the day I don’t have my stuff together,” he laughed as the bell went. “Well, there we go! You two can go to your seats now,” he said, clapping his hands together.

Holly and River took their seats as the rest of the class filed in. Dustin introduced himself and explained the task.

“As you can see, I’ve laid out the ingredients on your desks. I’ll put the radio on in a minute. I’ll be making the salad at the same time as you, then you’ll be copying down the recipe into your books and answering a few questions. Let’s get to work!”

There was a relaxed, easygoing atmosphere in the classroom and River and Holly chatted as they assembled the salads.

Dustin managed to make the salad as easily as the class did, and Holly remembered all the nice food she’d had at Parker’s house. She never really connected the dots that he was a good cook, although she wondered why he didn’t try a job at a restaurant in town.

~

Bebe walked with Holly to the bus stop as her father would be late picking her up.

“I can’t believe prom is next week! I’m so excited!” Bebe squealed. Holly laughed.

“I still can’t believe I’m going to be a big sister! I’m worried I’ll miss him being small and cute though; he’ll nearly be going to school by the time we’ll finish university.”

“Him?”

“Yeah, it’s a boy. I always wanted a little brother, you know. Finally got my wish.” They reached the bus stop just in time, and Bebe hugged Holly before she got on the bus.

“See you tomorrow!”

Next chapter is the prom! I already have most/all of the screenshots for the next two chapters, I just have to write them. I do have a Welsh CAT on Tuesday though, so I'll be spending my weekend revising for that.

I tried to talk about school without giving too much detail as obviously Sims education is based on the American system, and I have no idea how that works. Hopefully I don't confuse anyone by putting in something that only happens in Britain  ::)

EDIT: I just went back to space things out a bit more in the way of formatting because I think it's easier to read.

Wow - another update already! Anyway, I'm loving how realistic and relatable the story is, their school feels just like mine (with the added bonus of cooking lessons!) I've grown to love Holly already, and probably will feel the same about Bebe too soon! Looking forward to the next update. As for your CATs - pob lwc  ;D
If you're bored, try my Perfect Genetics Legacy thingy.

I like the school you set up.  The school depiction didn't seem off to me as an American, although in public school there generally aren't uniforms.  That's usually a private school thing.  They look good on your sims though and I wouldn't have thought anything of it if you hadn't mentioned it in your author's note.  I also wonder how Parker feels with his dad working in the school as a teacher.

I'm looking forward to your prom update, too!

Thank you! I was driving myself crazy trying to revise, so I gave myself a little break to get this chapter posted.  :)

Good to know! I'm sure Parker isn't exactly pleased :D

Holly smiled as she sat down at the table,

“Hi guys! Are Bebe and Ethan dancing?” Parker nodded.

“Yep. You know, I kind of want to dance too.” He glanced at River.

“Nope.” She said firmly, not looking up from her phone. He shrugged it off easily. Parker flirting with Holly and River had become a running joke in the group and they all knew he meant nothing by it.

“Holly?” He asked hopefully. Holly chewed her lip.

“If you don’t bother me for the rest of the evening?” He nodded his agreement and they stood up.

As they joined the dance floor, Parker snorted as they saw Ethan step on Bebe’s feet and even Holly smiled a little. Bebe waved him off hurriedly and resumed dancing.

Parker hummed along to the music as they danced.

“So, thinking Fine Arts still? University isn’t long off now.” He asked and Holly nodded.

“Were you serious about doing Communications instead of PE?”

“I think so. I like sports but all the theory stuff bores me to death. Way too science-y. Mike is still doing it though, I think. He’s more patient than me, I guess,”

“Or just more intelligent?” Holly asked teasingly and he stepped on her toe.

“Whoops!”

“Total accident, I’m sure.”

“I’m actually really excited for university. There’s so many things to do! Start playing guitar, go bowling…”

“…go to parties, chat up cute girls and guys…” This time, Holly was the one stepping on toes.

“Seriously though, I’m excited too.” Parker smiled.

~

“How come you came? I thought you said you weren’t going to,” Michael asked.

“Oh, last week I asked Molly if she wanted me to babysit Sandi at all this week and she knew prom was today – her team is catering it – and Mum heard her asking me and refused to let me stay home.” River explained.

“Ah, right. How is Sandi, anyway?”

“She’s good. She said her first word the other day, Molly was really excited. I know I was a bit worried about them coming to live with us, but I think it was for the best. Mum loves having Molly around, and Sandi’s so good. She barely ever cries or throws a tantrum. Plus, Molly’s a really good cook – no more living off takeaways.”

“Nice. I’m glad prom was tonight, Bella and her friends are having a sleepover.”

“What’s wrong with her friends? They’re good kids,” River asked curiously.

“Yeah, that doesn’t make three eleven year olds and a truckload of sugar any better a combination. Her room is right next to mine too.”

“Oh, I get you. Sometimes I want a sibling, then I hear these stories from you guys and I’m like ‘no way in hell’. Not like it was going to happen anyway,”

“Bella isn’t all bad – she’s better than Ethan’s siblings at least. Oh yeah, how long is it until the new one arrives?”

“Like, four months, I think. I know Holly’s brother is five months away and I think there’s a month between them,”

“Oh, right.”

~

The song finished as Ethan stepped on Bebe’s foot again.

Holly made her way back to the table and Parker was about to follow when Lisa walked up to him, smiling.

“May I have the next dance?” Parker gave her his trademark charming grin.

“Of course!”

Holly, Michael and River watched from their table.

“He did say he wanted to try to dance with every girl,” River commented.

The song finished and a fast, more upbeat pop song started playing and groups of friends started heading to the dance floor. Holly managed to find Bebe again on the dance floor and they chatted while dancing. When they saw Parker doing the smustle dance they burst out laughing. He winked at them before going back to the table.

“River!” He said in a singsong voice. “C’mon, it’s a fast song.”

River paused.

“Fine, but same deal as Holly. You can’t annoy me for the rest of the evening.” Parker grinned and Michael followed them to the dance floor, catching Ethan next to Holly and Bebe.

It was a great night, Holly thought, as she walked past her mother on her way downstairs. Vita was taking off her makeup in the mirror, and didn’t say anything to Holly.

~

Five months later, Holly was walking out of the kitchen when she heard her mother shriek. Holly dropped her sandwich and ran upstairs.

“Mum?!”

“Holly! I think the baby might be coming.”

“Do you want me to take you to the hospital?” Holly asked, trying to keep her worry out of her voice.

“Yes, thank you Holly. Go start the car while I get dressed.” Holly nodded and left the room.

Several hours later, in which Holly was sent home to get some sleep, she was sat upstairs trying to read when Vita walked in with a rare smile.

“Holly? Meet your little brother, Jesse.”

-----

I lost some of my screenshots for prom, so I wasn't able to include everything I was going to, so included the birth scene here instead of next chapter.

I know Vita's stomach wouldn't be that big at four months but I couldn't find a good way to get that screenshot in at a later time and I wanted at least one screenshot of pregnant Vita.

The next chapter definitely won't be until after Tuesday.

Loving this! The realistic depiction of time passing is something I haven't really seen in a sims story before. Definitely keeping an eye on this one

Prom was a fun update! I don't blame Michael for being frustrated about his little sister's sleepover.

Congrats to the Altos on the new addition to their family!
