Wow! I can't believe I won. Sorry guys, I would have posted earlier but for some reason I thought this still had another week. Congrats
@LenaLJ on your score too - we were literally just a couple of interactions apart. That's super close!!
Anyway, here is my strategy. Sorry again for the long-windedness. I never know how much to include/exclude...
So I'll start with the matchmaking. Essentially, I had levels of priority for my matches.
- Sims who had a prior relationship
- By far the easiest to match
- #1 Sergio Romeo and Sioban Fyres
- #2 Joaquin Le Chien and Candy Behr
- Sims who lived in the same household
- Have some relationship (easier to ask on a date)
- Easy to solve needs (higher success rate if the person you are proposing to has a green plumbob)
- Less time required to find/befriend/get the date started
- Also, after clearing this by the team (thanks @ratchie for putting up with my many messages), you can marry during the date if target is within your household, because the moving in pop-up doesn’t appear and interrupt the date.
- #3 Ulrike Faust and Maaike Haas
- #4 Eva Capricciosa and Pablo Rocca
- #5 Marcus Flex and Jade Rosa
- #6 Vivian Lewis and Dennis Kim
- #7 Liberty Lee and Travis Scott
- #9 Zoe Patel and Mitchell Kalani
- #10 J Huntington III and Gavin Richards
- #11 Akira Kibo and Miko Ojo
- #12 Don Lothario and Katrina Caliente
- Other couples I had pretested for compatibility (I tell you, Johnny Zest is determined to be a loner. Despite what I thought were compatible traits, I had NO luck with him in my practice runs)
- #8 Summer Holiday and Salim Benali
- #13 Nina Caliente and Caleb Vatore
- #14 Mila Munch and Penny Pizzazz
My key to a successful date (aka the Sims Playbook
)
- Get just enough friendship to have a pleasant conversation
- Alternate flirt and compliment x2 or 3 to get a suggestive conversation
- Ask on date
- Perform “safe” romantic actions up through first kiss and ask to be bf/gf - at this point romance is usually around 50
- Focus on friendship. Ask to cloudgaze is a good one for fast relationship boost - just make sure to cancel the action after it stops adding friendship points
- After friendship is at about 50 (I didn’t see much difference in proposal success rate after that - not enough to justify the time it takes to get there, anyway), return to romantic actions
- Get romance to nearly 100. Sims should have lots of good moodlets by now. Make sure opposing sim has a green plumbob (if in same household). Propose!
- If proposal fails (this happened only 2x for me - far less than in my practice run, so I was pretty lucky), immediately apologize/smooth recovery/self-deprecating joke/whatever you can do to salvage the moment. Then go give yourself a pep talk or hide from everyone to get rid of the embarrassment moodlet.
- Re-start a conversation with target, get as romantic as possible and then try again. 2nd time was the charm in both cases for me (even though it had only been a couple of hours since the 1st failed proposal)
- Get married!! (during the date if the sims are in the same household - if not, use the “elope” action right before the date ends and the “exchange vows” action right after it ends). In almost all cases, my sims were married during or immediately after the date.
One last misc. strategy: If a non-committal sim was involved, I made sure they were the one proposing. Their fail rate didn’t seem any worse than the average sim, unless they were the ones being proposed to.
Thanks for another awesome challenge, team! It was lots of fun!
