Painter's Masterpiece Bingo

Painter's Masterpiece Bingo

Goal
Put together as many horizontal and vertical masterpiece bingos (see the score sheet) as you can by the time your artist turns Elder. You'll have lots of fun seeing the various paintings from styles you may have never even tried out.

If you paint one of the 18 types of paintings in the bingo grid, then it must be noted immediately in a box with either an X (non masterpiece) or an M (masterpiece). Landscapes, emotional paintings and painting by reference are not scored.

General Challenge Rules
The General Challenge Rules always apply. If applicable, exceptions will be noted below.

Specific Challenge Rules
  • In CAS, create a single Young Adult, Human or Alien. IMPORTANT: Remember to play your file on Short life span.
  • You are allowed to use the Buydebug cheat for the sole purpose of purchasing a satellite to prevent abductions.
  • No adding to the household.
  • No Connections reward.
  • No Club content allowed.
  • Each bingo box gets only one mark - an X or an M.
  • You acquire a bingo when one of the 10 cards has 3 M's down in the same column or 6 M's across in the same row.
  • You must complete each painting you start.
  • Only original paintings may be entered on the bingo card. Copies of masterpieces do not count.
  • This challenge ends when your Sim turns Elder or when you run out of boxes to denote paintings completed - whichever comes first.

Scoring

The only paintings you can sell are landscapes, emotional paintings, and paintings by reference. The others must be entered in your grids.

Print out one Bingo sheet at the start of your file. When all 10 cards on the sheet are completely full, or your Sim reaches Elder stage - you are done.

You may only count any given grid box for one bingo. So, a small abstract box could not count for both a small, medium, and large Abstract column bingo, as well as a small Abstract, Classic, Impressionist, Pop-Art, Realist, and Surrealist row bingo. You would have to choose which bingo to score.

•• Each Column Masterpiece Bingo (1 small, medium and large Abstract, Classic, Impressionist, Pop-Art, Realist, or Surrealist painting) is worth 5 points.

•• Each Row Masterpiece Bingo (1 each of Abstract, Classic, Impressionist, Pop-Art, Realist, and Surrealist) is worth 10 points.

Example: At the time that he fills up all 10 of his cards, Monet has 5 different Column masterpiece Bingos and 10 different Row masterpiece Bingos.
5 X (5 points each) = 25 pts
10 X (10 points each) = 100 pts

Total = 25 + 100 = 125

Ch-Ch-Changes
The team does not want to edit and make changes to the ruleset once this event goes live, but we may have to. If an exploit is brought to our attention or we discover something else we reserve the right to ask affected players to redo their effort.

Have Questions?
Please think hard before you ask in the challenge thread because it may be strategy. What you may consider an innocent question could cause another player to go — “oh, I did not think of doing that.” It’s always safer to PM everyone on the team (Metro, ratchie, Nutella, LenaLJ, Trip, and MarianT) for clarifications. Thanks.

And the Winner is...
After this event has closed everyone is encouraged to discuss how they approached the event, but the winner especially is expected to do so in detail.

Someone had a question on whether the grid boxes could be "stored up" and marked later. No. So, just to be clear I clarified...

If you paint one of the 18 types of paintings in the bingo grid, then it must be noted immediately in a box with either an X (non masterpiece) or an M (masterpiece). Landscapes, emotional paintings and painting by reference are not scored.

Actually, the team as a whole put a lot of work into this. Credit (and blame :))) should be shared equally.

I just want to make sure I understand it right. After entered the grids, can we sell the paintings to make money?

No. You can only sell non-grid paintings. The team may ask to see a player's file and all the paintings that were scored would need to be available for verification.

LOL, I just sat here and reread the scoring part like 8 times one line at a time with the spread sheet up on the other monitor. I finally got it. And to believe, I used to play Bingo. LOL

Lol I'm glad I'm not the only one having difficulties... lots of fun, but very difficult to score. My husband finds my frustration amusing. ::)

Claudia Monet filled up all 10 of her cards, and she had 2 different column masterpiece bingos and 0 different row masterpiece bingos.

Therefore 5 points X 2 columns = 10 points total.

This was a fun challenge :)!
