So are Yuki's loyalties actually divided? or does she know what she wants?

Jade Benjaminz is actually pretty clever, standing around the cafe, making life difficult for everyone else. That strategy!

I kind of feel sorry for Summer, but mostly she annoys me, too, so I don't feel too sorry for her.

Wow, I had a lot of catching up to do!
Fern is glorious!  If this was a legacy, I would so pick her!
Clever usage of Jade's presence at the café to fill the enemy requirement even if she did ruin the 5-star rating for the day.  Making lemonade when handed lemons?  I think yes!

Poor unappreciated Summer.

So between Yuki's secret divided loyalties and Jade not-so-secretly undermining Dem Butlers, the Benjaminzes (is that the plural?) seem to have themselves a nice advantage :D Nice of Jade to provide Murasaki with an enemy, though.

Somewhat random question, but is the pretty purple planty thing on the outdoor table (in screenshot 18) from Dine Out?

Ooh! I did miss Travis's makeover last time, but I definitely see it today! Looking good, buddy!

Loving Yuki's attempts to cover up her fraternizing with the enemy! Knights of the Hedge. Sure, Yuki! Suuuuuure.

Oh, and yes, don't forget to get Tamari that butler's outfit, yeah? *drums fingers impatiently* Poor Tamari. Doomed to be ever-confident. Who wouldn't be overpowered by that awesomeness?

Jade is so devious! Good work showing her who's boss, Murasaki!

@wfgodot
You will perhaps feel even stronger sympathy for Summer after getting through this chapter.
As for Moss & Yuki, I'm not sure who's chasing who. You may remember that Moss as a little boy met teen Yuki at Desert Bloom Park and fell in crush.
I'm glad you enjoyed the wall plaque. When I'd finished decorating the helpers' room, they insisted on the commemorative plaque dedicated to you. :D
And I did include a shot of Summer in her athletic wear this time, hehe. By the way, I'm curious why the Benjaminz are your favorites...

@Whirligig
Why settle for the life of a helper, when Yuki could be a boss lady?
Obviously, it would be awkward, seeing that Shota Mori is her brother-in-law.
It's Yuki Behr--she could get anyone she wants, in my opinion. Plus she now has maxed Logic, Handiness, and Rocket Science.
The only real problem with Summer in my game (besides her perky walk, ugh) is that she's surrounded by sims who are much more talented and hence useful than she is.
Plus, those random sit-ups and push-ups at the worst moments! Lol
Moss hasn't really decided on who he wants to marry. Since he needs three Good Friends, though, he wanted one of them to be Yuki.

@PeregrineTook
Thanks so much for taking the time to catch up! And yes, I love Fern and wish she could be heir. But I will save her to MyLibrary for something else.
At the point when Murasaki fought with Jade, Dem Butlers had yet to earn a five-star rating.
But when someone does like Jade and chats with the clientele, they can stay forever, forcing Shota to close without them paying. Grrrr.
I do so enjoy the Dine Out GP--it must be the foodie in me!

@Alex
Yes, poor Summer. Somehow, I've ended up with a kind of scapegoat in each of the households.
Though Yumiko in the Benjaminz household came through with a U.F.O. plant!
The Benjaminz is already a plural noun--slang for $100 bills because of Benjamin Franklin, right?  (Yeah, corny, but it's me!)
And yes, the table centerpieces with the purple flowers are from the Dine Out game pack.

@FrancescaFiori
Yuki wishes to remind you that Moss invited her over and asked her to be BFFs, not vice versa.
I'm still undecided about spouse candidates for the Gen2 heirs and for Fern and Tamari. And then, here's Laszlo…
I went a little overboard this chapter with shots of Tamari as butler. I hope you don't mind.
I might be sick. Some days, I feel like I'm dying of silliness.

Week 3 chez Shota Mori, Part II

Wednesday

Shota: Now, Summer, what did I tell you about stalking Tamari?

Shota: We're sure that the kids will earn an A grade today, so we open for lunch again.
It concerns me to see Bjorn Bjergsen run off for a jog--our service isn't that slow.
And besides, I recently bought the Patient Patrons perk!

Shota: What a relief to see him jog back to the restaurant, change back to his formal wear, and return to his seat.
I wonder what that was about?

Shota: Our two outdoor tables are always occupied, which surprises me.
I would have preferred to run an outdoor garden restaurant, but I thought our clientele would prefer a more British tea room style.
Here, you see me offering these patrons complimentary drinks.
And note that we have yet another loser hanger-on today.

The Bjergsens are one of the wealthiest families in Windenburg. I show my appreciation for their patronage (and five-star reviews) by comping their meal.
This morning, I switched up the menu to consist mainly of high-price items, so we really need patrons like the Bjergsens.

I wonder if I need to personally meet a sim before they dine at my café?

Tamari (on the phone): Yes, Papa, I just got home from school. Sure, I'll be at Dem Butlers in five minutes.

Annoying hanger-on: Oooh, you must be new here! Is there any chance you'd share your phone number?
Tamari: My apologies, ma'am. If you want some of this, you'll need to take a seat and order.

Shota: That's my boy, Tamari! Totally the way to lead her on!

Murasaki: You know, I was actually at the café, too, writing novels in the back room. Grrr.
We get home just in time for me to take a Muscle-Relaxing soak and so forth to get Very Energized for work.
When I'm about to change, a little girl walks by. She wears violet so I, of course, must say hello.

Murasaki: Hello, little girl! My name's Murasaki Mori.
Akiko: Hello there! My name's Akiko Faust, daughter of Ulrike Faust and Akira Kibo. I love your lavender hair, miss!
Murasaki: Oh! Yet another member of that Benjaminz house. They're like moths around the Mori flame. Oops, time for work!
*writes note to self: Introduce Tamari to Akiko
I was actually thinking more like Tamari and Fern…

Liberty: Yuki and I both maxed out Rocket Science by Wednesday evening but we've been waiting on some news.
As soon as MarianT, Mother of the Rival Dynasties Challenge, gives us the green light, we begin installing a wormhole generator.

Thursday

Murasaki: So many requirements to keep track of! Yesterday, I earned my first promotion at work!
But I've been so anxious about my lack of bestsellers that I completely forget that I need Level 2 Charisma for the Level 3 promotion!
Can I get it done before school this morning? Hmmm, my Charisma isn't increasing much at all!

Liberty: Yuki and I finally finish installing the wormhole generator.
Sixam, here I come! Actually, I need to wait for a time when both Shota and Murasaki aren't busy with work, school, or the café.

Yuki: I'm visiting Sixam second, yo! Well, maybe third after Murasaki…
Liberty: Meanwhile, you can try out our new hot tub! No one's even used it yet!

Murasaki: There, Level 2 Charisma. I had to move to my bedroom because Tamari's Inspired-boost objects were spoiling my Happy mood.
And just in time for school, too!

Candy: So, Shota dear, I've been thinking.
Shota: Oh yeah? Thinking about what?
Candy: I've been thinking that I deserve some kind of reward for all the hours I've spent chained to first the easel and then the computer.
Also, when the mail arrives this morning, I'll complete Bestselling Author.
Shota: That's awesome, especially since you've already completed Painter Extraordinaire! You deserve a wall plaque really…

Candy: Meh, wfgodot already got one of those. What I have in mind is…um, a little privacy, please?

I remember a reader commenting that they enjoyed members of one lineage showing up in the another lineage's neighborhood.
So, here's a shot of Yumiko Watanabe from the Benjaminz lineage, fishing at the pond behind the Mori residence. Look for the yellow arrow! *giggles

Hello there, this is Tamari Mori. I just wanted to inform you that I won't be at school today.
My father's business enterprise is on the verge of bankruptcy, you see, and he needs me to help out.
Yes, yes, I understand the labor laws governing the employment of minors. It's not like I'll be making Ip*ones or sneakers, you know!

Travis: I don't mind mentoring you, Tamari. But here's a tip! If you'd spend less time basking in your awesomeness, you'd probably level up faster.
Tamari: Oh please, Uncle Travis! That's like telling the sun not to shine!

Tamari loves to put his hands on his hips and look proud of himself.
I have no idea why, since his traits are Creative and Cheerful, but his attitude goes well with the Fabio hair.

Summer: Yowza, look what I see jogging through our neighborhood! Hubba-hubba!
Candy: Um, just a wild guess, Summer, but I'm pretty sure he's not for you, either!

Caleb (internally): Yes, ignorant creature. I would never have anything to do with you and your ridiculous pink sportswear. *hisses

Shota: Our lunch business seems to have picked up since Tamari joined us.
Oh look, Clara Bjergsen came back without her husband. She must have a thing for you, Tamari!

Tamari: But Dad, she's acting all flirty? What do I do?
Shota: You charm her into boosting her review to 5 stars! Oh, and our cuisine is great, too!

Tamari: And this is why we can't take Auntie Summer anywhere. Today, our lunch session ends at 4.5 stars, again.

Candy: In the evening, we leave for the café a little early so that Murasaki can get ready for her job while we prepare the café for the dinner crowd.
It's really been a while since Dem Butlers Cafe has been open for dinner!
Shota: Looks like Tamari has made the acquaintance of Morgan Fyre and her mother. They seem to really love the food here!

Fern: Oh my! He is every bit as gorgeous as all the girls at school say he is!
My family would kill me if they knew I'd snuck out here all alone, but I just had to see him!

Tamari: Good evening, my little emerald princess. I'm stopping by to welcome you to Dem Butlers Café.
I hope you enjoy your meal. I will be sure to stop by and check how you're doing later.
(internally): I hope to run into this precious little girl after her birthday!

What a surprise that Fern shows up by herself!

Shota: Tamari has really taken to his work at Dem Butlers Café, like a fish to water. And he looks great in that butler outfit!

Murasaki? She's in the back room, writing novels. Still not a single bestseller, poor thing!

Shota: On Thursday evening of Week 3, Dem Butlers Café earns its first five-star rating!
According to our Finances Overview, we served only four tables during nine hours, but I know that can't be right!
And if you're wondering why we didn't make a profit, it's because I offered every table complimentary drinks.

We'll be closed evenings for the rest of the week, because Murasaki and I need to focus on maxing our careers.
Still, we'll be opening for lunch every day and will hopefully earn more five-star ratings!

If only Murasaki could produce those three bestsellers, our lineage would be sailing!

Shota: When we get home from Dem Butlers, I try to move something into family inventory.
Instead, I get a message that a vampire is trying to break in! Who? Where?

Selene: I heard from Caleb about that blond floozie who tried to chat him up this morning.
So this is where she lives. I guess it's no surprise that she lives with a rival lineage.
If only Shota hadn't returned when he did. I would have taught that hoochie mama to make eyes at mah beloved! *hisses

Hmm, I'm not sure why they're my favorites.  I think I have just found their parts of the story to be the most interesting to read.  Strange, isn't it.  I think the other families have a lot more going on lol.  I just like them *shrugs*.  I mean it has nothing to do with Salim.

Bjorn is a Bjergsen, Shota, no questions needed.
Aw, man!  Akiko shafted to the side once more in favor of Fern!  Poor child.  Tamari and Fern would be interesting though.
So glad you included the picture of Yumiko fishing lol.  What a great angle!

That's like telling the sun not to shine!  I like that.
... lol is this the picture of Summer in her athletic wear?  Well thank you for being so gracious, Watchette.  Too bad Caleb got in the way, eh?
Oh, I love Selene trying to get in and get back at Summer!!!

Looks like your cafe is doing wonderfully, despite the Benjaminz' attempts at sabotage. Also, Bjergsens are just weird, I've decided...

Darn those stupidly elusive bestsellers. I feel your pain.

Oh, what a hilarious chapter! I'm crying!
I love your Watcher matchmaking! Tamari and Fern do make a lot of sense. Somehow the second-borns in your dynasties are winning the lotto in the looks department, so pairing them up would make a great deal of sense.
Thanks so much for the bright yellow arrow pointing out the focus of that picture of Yumiko fishing. I can't explain it, but somehow my eyes kept sliding over to the other side of the picture even though Yumiko was clearly the main subject. I had to stare at it for a long time to really take it all in. ;) Same thing happened with the shot of Summer in her activewear. Where is my head at these days?
By the way, love your hot tub room with the arbor over the top! Gorgeous!
Tamari really shines in his sapphire-blue butler outfit. The tips have got to be insane! It's a good thing Moss is leaning towards Yuki, because I think Morgan Fyre's head is officially turned.
Loved Selene seeking revenge on Summer. She can be really scary when she wants to!

Jade and Tamari?  Spares could marry, just not the heirs.  That's allowed.
I'm loving how the bloodlines keep crossing into each other's storylines.  Of course, the angry jealous vampire wife appearance took the cake  :=)

Ooh, Fern and Tamari. I agree with everybody else - that makes sense.

Looks like Dem Butlers is doing well. Although Summer doing sit-ups in the same clothes she serves food in probably breaks a few food hygiene rules :-\ ;D

Good luck getting the bestsellers!

@wfgodot  I'm quite happy that you favor the Benjaminz! The Mansion Baron bloodline is closest to regular gameplay, whereas restaurant management and vampires (especially vampires) haven't appeared much in forum stories so far. For that reason, I've worried that the Benjaminz would be boring, despite their unusual skintone.
No worries about Akiko! She's going to land on her feet! You notice how she's taken the initiative to meet Murasaki? In fact, why are the Benjaminz and Sciarris all over the Mori's? I'm glad you enjoyed shots of Yumiko fishing and Summer's sportswear.
I was really surprised to see that Selene was attempting a break-in!

@Whirligig   I laughed at how you and wfgodot have the same opinion about the Bjergsens, haha.
Bestsellers--I remember you waiting impatiently for Norman to produce his! Will Murasaki pull through this week!?

@FrancescaFiori  I spoke thoughtlessly about shipping Tamari and Fern, even though she was so cute at Dem Butlers Café. Since they're both siblings to heirs, pairing them would make my gameplay and genetic pool too complicated. Visually speaking, though, they'd make a killer pair. Maybe in another story someday, lol.
I'm glad you got a laugh out of Yumiko fishing and Summer's sportswear. Shota's been letting Tamari steal the spotlight lately, but Shota is really such a gorgeous sim, even when he's being upstaged by Yumiko at the pond.
Clueless Summer, thinking she could make eyes at Caleb and get away with it!

@PeregrineTook   I was incredibly lucky in this update with little Fern dining alone at Dem Butlers Café, Caleb jogging by, and Selene attempting a break-in. I'm not sure why the other families are so drawn to the Mori's. Shota jogs, Caleb jogs, but the Benjaminz sims only fish. Maybe I need to create a Benjaminz jogger as well…
Frankly, the Benjaminz and Mori's are no doubt too scared to hang out anywhere near the Sciarri residence…Also, I've also been wracking my brains over an efficient way to expand and improve the townie gene pool.

@Alex  After more thought, I'm going to try to find other options for Fern and Tamari. Pairing them would leave me with Romeo/Juliet situation which I'd rather avoid.
Actually, I love the spouse hunt!

Week 3 chez Shota Mori, Part III

Thursday

Murasaki: We're all still shaken up about the visit from the vampire lineage founder.
Candy: I told you to stay away, Summer! Now look what you've gone and done!
Summer: How was I supposed to know that his wife was Selene Sciarri? And he wasn't wearing a ring!

Murasaki: While Trevor makes more garlic objects, I decide on priorities for Week3:
   • Write two more bestsellers to complete Bestselling Author (yep, got one!);
   • Make a third Good Friend;
   • and reach Level 3 of the Retail career.

Of course, I also need to submit museum items and make another enemy, but I can leave those requirements for Week 4.

Friday

Tamari: Apparently, I am grubbing for points by switching between different aspirations.
Liberty: Don't think that way, Tamari! You know you'll eventually live with Murasaki in her new home.
If you can be versatile, you'll fit into any household configuration, right? Skills rule, kiddo!

Tamari: Maybe I'll be co-owner of her new venue! We need to brainstorm!
Shota: Don't distract her until she finishes Bestselling Author, son. But there is one thing you could do to help out!
Tamari: Anything but gardening! I'm an artiste, yo! I should be creating!

Tamari: When we open Dem Butlers for lunch then travel there, Morgan's family is already seated.
Shota: Work your magic, son! Transform those 4's into 5's! Wow, even Moira looks entranced!

Summer: I've been put in exclusive charge of Marcus Flex this afternoon.
I welcome him and check on his table, then prioritize his meal after he places his order.
As soon as his meal arrives, I return to offer a complimentary drink.
Now that I've done all I can for Marcus…where's Tamari?

Shota: Summer, stop standing so close to Tamari. Can't you see you're embarrassing him?
Tamari: Papa, can't you send her off fishing or something? She's creeping me out! And in front of Morgan! Everyone at school will be laughing at me!

Summer: Hmmph, so under-appreciated! And I'm not that much older than Tamari!

Shota: All our patrons show 5-star reviews now, except for this table. Time to call in the big guns!

Adelyn (the waitress): No one can argue with how incredibly cute Yuki is, but does singing off-key really work?

Yuki: Though I offer them complimentary drinks and even comp their meal, I fail to get both of them to leave 5-star reviews.
That single 4-star review momentarily pulls us down to a 4.5-star rating. Oh no!

Shota: Thankfully, patrons at two other tables all leave 5-star reviews for our second day with a 5-star rating. Noice!
Our ingredient costs are high because I've bought the Ingredient Quality Option perk to select the most costly ingredients, without buying the two Ingredient Discount perks.

Also, look at our Ambiance rating! Besides three knight statues, I've placed a good number of high-environment paintings.

Murasaki: On the way home from the café, Papa makes a stop to introduce me to someone.

Walking the Chien: I thank all of you for taking the time to travel all the way to my awesome abode.
Unfortunately, there's just two of us here and we don't see any need for domestic servants.
Shota: Look, dude, we aren't here to ask for jobs as hired help!

Joaquin: Oh, so y'all dropped by on the way to some cosplay convention?
Tamari: No, no, no! We work in Dem Butlers Café where we dress as butlers and maids, okay?

Shota: So, where's Sergio?

Liberty: Check out their crib, girlfriend! Look at the big flatscreen TV!
Yuki: I know, right? We need to have a talk with Watchette!  We deserve more of life's little luxuries…big TV, gaming rigs, gaming consoles..
Liberty: I said this!

Summer: I'd just like the household to sit down for meals more often so I can socialize.

Shota: Oh right! The Paragons asked me to join them weeks ago, so I'll go home and start a club gathering.

Murasaki: Papa, what's with that lame outfit?
Shota: No clue! If it's the Paragons' club uniform, why isn't Sergio dressed like me?

Murasaki: Thanks for coming over, Jasmine Holiday. (Took her long enough!)
Jasmine: No problem. Hey, don't you think your family's overdoing the garlic wards?
Travis: Absolutely not! One can never have too many garlic wards! *holds up a cross

Murasaki: Yo, Tamari! I need you to come out here and be my wingman!
Apparently, Sergio considers Siobhan Fyres to be both his sweetheart and girlfriend. Yet Siobhan sees Sergio as her sweetheart but not her boyfriend.
I can work with that! But I need you to ask Siobhan to leave--she keeps butting into my convo with Sergio!

Tamari: So it's like this, Siobhan. You need to leave right now. You're not wanted here.

Murasaki: *spams Sergio with the friendliest of Friendly socials
Sergio: I know, right? You hit the nail on the head! Wow, we have so much in common!

Tamari: Hey, where did everyone go?
Murasaki: Before leaving for work, Papa ended the Paragons gathering to start our family's Club Enak ("delicious" in Indonesian).
Tamari: So how did it go with Sergio?
Murasaki: We're good friends now but, after my birthday, I have my plans…
Tamari: Nice! And does Watchette already know that Sergio has the Active trait?
Hehehe…

Saturday

Tamari: Artistic pursuits become me, I believe.
When I make a face like this while being creative, I seem to be in the throes of a profound conceptual struggle.
When I make a face like this while gardening, for example, I simply look unhappy about being delegated to busy work.

Shota: Since the Mori Museum houses the portraits of the founder and heirs, but not their spouses, I've hung portraits of Candy and I in the living area.
Thanks for painting Candy's portrait, Summer!

Candy: Shota decides to cake up instead of ageing naturally.
He still needs his final career promotion, so can't risk feeling sad on the job.

Shota: We open Dem Butlers Café for lunch and everything runs perfectly! Look! Everyone's ordered the pricey experimental dishes and has 5 stars.

Tamari: Well, except that Moira Fyre arrived her with her husband but has been carrying on with Marcus Flex…
Marcus, back off, dude! Her husband just showed up!

Shota: We thought we'd stop with the screenshots of aspirations and skills completed, because they're boring.
But you persisted with your bestsellers without complaint, so let's commemorate your success!
Candy: Congrats on completing Bestselling Author, Murasaki!

Shota: We've maintained a 5-star rating three days in a row, which satisfies one of my requirements.
I close Dem Butlers Cafe for the last time, check its resale value, then sell it. I'm a restauranteur no more!
It will be fun to take the whole household to visit the cafe under new management!

Murasaki: Today is really my day! I earn my final Retail promotion to Customer Support!
I'm so close to finishing all my move-out requirements now!
My biggest problem, though, is my collection. I've spent so much time writing novels that I have not spent any time on museum items!

Shota: To celebrate all that the Mori House has achieved this week, I suggest we go clubbing in Windenburg.

Candy: Great job, Summer. Keep your eyes forward and pretend you don't see that hawt married vampire shaking his booty!

Yep, I'd say artistic pursuits become Tamari :D That face might not go quite so well with, say, fixing broken plumbing.

Congrats on finishing up Bestselling Author!

The Mori family is doing great! I had to laugh at Shota in the Paragon uniform -- they wear pink, which is why Sergio was okay, as his shirt was pink. And I'll have to remember not to hire Summer Holiday to work in my restaurant.
