Browsing in the gallery, can you help me to identify how to make these?

I am confused on how they make the upper level and whether it is functional. sweetxpenguin's Apartment and pololotrololo's 'Apartment "Bright Colors"'. It seems like an enlarged desk/table to me on sweetxpenguin's creation, with the pool stair thrown in, while I am completely confused on pololotrololo's creation.

any insight?

sweetxpenguin's Apartment does look like enlarged desks. The sims probably can morph into those beds to sleep but that's just a guess. The other build looks like a standard open plan build where you just remove part of the upper floor and place a stair up to the rest like normal.

Hmm... I didn't consider that. So, either two floor apartment room or just common house/penthouse, huh...
