Game doesn't finish saving, no error message

My game has been saving for hours. Is there any chance it will ever finish or should I just close it out and start over?

I have 12g ram and this is the first time this has happened since I've had my current machine for over a year. I usually get Error 12 or 16, which I can recover from by hibernating and / or Save As, but can't even do that. It seems to be just saving forever - though the program is still responsive.

It sounds like it may have crashed on you.

Something else it might be is that it needs to be saved with a new name. See link below for more details.
